I like PVP. But i dont like Ganking/Griefing (Which usually happens on so called 'PVP' servers. I liked DAOC's system of PVP, how they had level-restricted PVP areas, and Frontiers for High level PVP. Will there be some kind of consensual PVP on regular servers? Or will I be forced to endure the imbeciles who inhabit the PVP servers in order to have fun when i actually am ready for it?

As far as I know, the only time that you can be attacked on a PvE server without consent is if you are in opposing territory and you attack first. This means that if you attack a PC or an NPC in a town, An alert will be sent to all the opposing faction members in the area telling them that you are open for attack. But if you are just there walking around and fighting NPC creeps, they cannot touch you.
I would like the idea of instanced battle grounds where if you walk through, you are taken to a place where people up to 5 levels higher than a set number or 5 levels lower than a set number can enter. I guess it would be from 1 to 5, 6 to 10, 11 to 15 and so on. Could that work?

Standard Player vs. Environment Server
Players have the ability to attack almost all opposing faction NPCs, including vendors and quest givers. If a player attacks an opposing faction NPC, players of the opposite faction are then able to target and attack that player. Whenever an NPC is attacked, players who share the same faction as that NPC will receive a system message indicating that a specific town is under attack.
Please be aware that some quest NPCs might not always be available. If an NPC has been killed, players should wait for the NPC to respawn.
Actions that will enable PvP on the standard player vs. environment server are:
Players will also have the ability to enable PvP on their own by using the /pvp command. Once PvP has been enabled by a player, no matter what the method, it will remain in effect for five minutes.
In time, all standard servers will include a consensual Player vs. Player system called Battlegrounds. Once Battlegrounds has been implemented, players will have the ability to attack other players to defend their cities and towns from invasion. We expect the Battlegrounds system to be available later during the beta test.
Well it does sound a lot like DaoC, and I sure hope it's very similar to that.

It sounds nothing like DAOC. It pretty much means if you wanna PVP, you need to attack an NPC and wait to get jumped.

As a n00b to the whole PvP thing I am all for optional PvP on the PvE server. I like the idea of the whole call to arms thing that I can choose to take part in or not. At least thats the way I understood it.

Somebody get this freakin duck away from me!
I also heard something about challenging players to duels and the duel would be based soley upon wiether the challenger accepts the duel or not.
Anyone have any further input on this ? I am limited to my insight
I play on the PvE server (named Beta) not the PvP server (named PvP). On the PvE server Duels are not lvl restricted and are purely consensual. I've had players that were so high lvl that all I can see is ?? as there lvl marks, challenge me to duals. It's up to me if I wish to accept them.
As for FvF (Faction vs Faction or Horde vs Alliance) the only thing active at this time on the PvE server, is what is posted above. Someone has to either go /pvp or attack a NPC or aid someone who is attacking a NPC before you can touch them.

My dog barks some. Mentally you picture my dog, but I have not told you the type of dog which I have. Perhaps you even picture Toto, from "The Wizard of Oz." But I warn you, my dog is always with me.
