Which server should I go on for -my- liking?

I'm into RP...so is there any servers that the community support that type of thing?

what I -really- want is to make maybe 3-4 friends who we will always group with, like a fellowship. I enjoy the books and thats how the books are like and I wanted to RP something like that if anyone was interested

Well from what people have said, Thelanis is the "unofficial" RP server. That said, if you want to RP you're going to have to post on the DDO forums and inquire about a RP guild.

I play on Thelanis and have never run into anyone RPing. Not saying they are not out there, but maybe they stick to playing with other RPers.

    Goodluck to you!

Open RP is rare on all servers (including Thelanis), and it's best to find a group/guild to play with.

Look into RP guilds on each server (I know at least Thelanis has a list of guilds stickied in the Thelanis server forum on ddo.com). Check also the player quest coordination forum, this is usually where people kick off static groups.

Come on over to Sarlona the other unofficial RP server! Once you log in come check out the Forsworn 'RP'. We are most definately the largest roleplaying guild on Sarlona with more than 50 members. We have a calendar full of events each month which  include, but are not limited to : Low level nights, high level nights, guild Raids ( yes we take it slow and roleplay during raids), and dedicated groups. We recently set up a server wide RP channel for all roleplayers both guilded and unguilded to use.

So if you are looking for a bunch of mature folks that like to take it slow take in the senery and roleplay while questing then the Forsworn maybe for you. Also most of our members are adults with families and such and we understand that life happens. So we are very flexible when it comes to our gaming scheadules.

You can contact me (Dailus) in game, our fearless leader Taurnil, or any of our other officers Salina, Kanai, Dewflower, Rhue, and Janadanu!

Here  is a link to our website : http://www.roleplaynexus.org/forsworn/forum/index.php

No actually we use text to roleplay. Nothing says you can't rp in voice chat most of us just prefer text. Dunno how I could possibly roleplay my female elven ranger having the voice of a 35 year old man ;) . As for the link it is loading a bit slow for me, but is working. Perhaps try again latter. If you have anymore questions I'll be happy to awnser them.

There are some voice changing software apps that work great for that and work with DDO. :)

Dailus, if you're guild does everything you say it does on a regular basis, I may never need to switch MMORPGs again. I love to RP when I find a game that inspires me to. DnD in general inspires me to RP, so it goes without saying that the character creation process, choosing my skills/feats/custom class, and personality is important to me. I spend time doing this, because I actually immerse myself into my character while online doing quests.

I've very rarely, and I mean very rarely found people who are willing to slow down while doing quests and roleplay at the same time. I don't just mean in DDO, but in all games. Like the OP stated, I picture myself in one of these books as a member of a small band of heroes out to complete a huge world/kingdom saving quest.

I'd like to join your band of adventurers, so I will look you up once I create a character. I also like the fact that you all use text to communicate with. This is also a rarity, since people has grown accustomed to voice chat.

We 100% do everything I stated. Feel free to check out our forums, sign up if you wish, check out the events calander. If fact we just finished a .... well a failed dragon raid within the last 30 minutes. Despite the failure a good time was had by all!

I this guild was founded in October 2007 after displeasure with another RP guild. We wanted more than just "light" rp. We did not want to loose imersion because of voice chat, we wanted RP events. Well thanks to our leader Taurnil's inititive we have all those. Many of us have been here since the games release and you'll not find a friendly buch of roleplayers anywhere. I know I've looked ; ) .

I joined The Forsworn guild on Sarlona. If you all are looking for a RPing guild who actually RP's while adventuring and is mature and friendly, you won't need to look for another guild. I give this guild 2 thumbs up. See you all in Sarlona.
