Waiting on Data From...?

So I installed VG and can load up to the character selection screen...
at the bottom it says Waiting on Data From...
WTF is this about? Its like I am not connecting with their servers? Anyone know how to fix this? I looked in VG tech forums, but could not find anything with this exact issue -
Any help would be appreciated!

The only thing I can think of atm is doing a complete file scan. I hate to suggest a re-install, but... save that for a last ditch effort.

That's the message I get when the server is down or being restarted.
Unfortunately "All servers are up" message doesn't have to mean they are really "up".
Happens very rarely though.

Running as Admin?

Running as admin? Are you meaning I should or should not be doing this? There is a microsoft shield symbol inside my vanguard launch symbol, this was not there when I originally installed - How do I remove?
What color is the shield? Is it red? If it's red, it's more then likely just the security center's warning that the firewall is off, or something else if off. If this is the case, you should be able to right click and just select exit.
Are you running Vista? If so, try right clicking on the Vanguard Icon and selecting "run as admin". He was saying that you should be running as admin. Another fun Vista security deal.
The shield is the standard 4 color microsoft icon - I thought it may have something to do with VG not working for me, but maybe not...
I am running vista, and I did try running the program as admin -
I still get the same messgae, except this time it says "waiting on data from
Seredon"
- So it looks like it recognizes what server I am trying to get to , but wont let me connect -
Frustrating as hell.
Same problem just installed today. and theres no way im gonna reinstall

We could play "guess why" for days and weeks.
I had this happen too... just wait it out... The server is starting up the chunk. The servers tend to turn off unused chunks
It happens alot if I log out in our Guild hall. Takes well over 10 minutes to get logged in somedays.

I would open a petition, somethings not right with whats happening to the OP. Like I said, we could play "guess why" forever.
It will appear that way if the servers have recently been brought up, but are not quite ready to go yet. I'll also get that if I'm in a chunk that is down.
Perhaps try creating another toon and logging in, see if you can get in on that toon, and then go back and try the one that could not get it.
There's also a tech thread on it in the VGplayers tech forum that adivises something like deleting cache... but I'm not positive.
