You don't understand....These 2 cities are made up of what I think is 14 zones each.  It's not just 2 small cites.  They said it will take quite awile to explore everything that is the world on launch day.  There also will be sections that are "locked" until a group of people kill a certain mob or complete a quest and then those zones will be available for everyone.  image

Wow my post above got ninja deleted meh whatever not like its the end of the world or anything *shrugs*. As for the 2 starting cities having what? 14 "zones" what good does this do? Eventually theyll end up mixing into the same zones and some will get overcrowded... Besides they are still cities... they cant be THAT big. And if they are it will take you 2 weeks just to explore the starting city LOL

I think one zone per city could easily hold thousands. Well everyone starts at the same place in SWG and you dont see any proplems, I will be a easter human i think since I did that in EQOA(PS2). Pity that game is a bit borning, but it has really got me into the Everquest Universe! I hear they are going to publish books about the EQ lands, this would be cool and I would diffently be a keen reader. I would say that EQII will be a supped up SWG engine, (which i think in turn was a supped-up EQ engine,(had to be) then it should have no problems handling what the website shows. I hope you can have massive groups and that enemies that respawn as quick ( I know that if you dont loot them they take a while to come back, but there is always a bloody ninja-looter! Thanks hope to see you on EQ II. Sir Tramsalot.

I doubt there will be much of an issue with overcrowding unless they dont open many servers to start.  They have developed the two main cities to hold everyone through the life of their character.  Here are a couple bits of info they have released about the size of the cities and newbie areas.

-The Common lands, which was East and West Commons and some of the noobie areas in the original game, is now around 6 kilometers squared with 4000 monsters.  That makes for very large starter areas (that being only one of them) with lots of creatures to fight.

ya, 17 zones each starter city, and theres other cities that you can live in but cant start in.. :O And no worries with over crowded newbie areas, maybe overcrowded good ones, but rpolly be areas to hunt in like 10 of those 17 zones, and then ya go out past those and hit more hunting.. so no worries.

"zones" does that mean there will be loading time inbetween them ?

If thats the case (I hope not), it could be pretty annoying traversing a city with that many interruptions.

Hm...seems like I heard something about their being no zone-loading...hopefully this is just areas with different names to make it easier to navigate? If theirs a load screen, I'll be a bit dissapointed.

Might be a load time, but you might not see it.. probably first time ya go there theres a dl thing that makes your lag.. or it shows a loading.. then you probably walk through seamlessly or very quickly, zone less games so far all had zones :P

Actually it's 18 zones per city, and the other cities you talk about will never replace your original city as a place to handle buisness. The other cities are dungeons proberly.

You will have to load between zones, but the time it'll take will be much less than in EQ.

18? I have read in a few palces 17, and heard in 2 or 3 of their videos 17.... maybe i'm wrong though..

I know the way they have started this game out to be is quite strange and all but personally I trust this dev. team more than any other dev. team and I trust the likes SOE more than any other. Because they have more experience and have been releasing expansions and what not for the original for who nows how many years. Good choice is this game.

How big are the cities in total?

Sites: Each of the cities are made of eighteen zones, each consisting of the town centre, the villages or neighbourhoods which is where you start out and where each player has his or her own apartment.
