Is how open the developers are with the community. Whenever a MMO developer communicating usually means the game is on track, and if this game is on track it will be a good one.

Huh?
Absolutely! I was at the Baltimore Games Day (Games Workshop convention) and spent time at the Warhammer Online Booth. I spent more time sittin around talking to the staffers/Dev team than doing anything else! Extremely friendly and personable group. As ready to BS with someone about nonsense, or their game history/past as gamers as they are to talk about their own product. I would at the very least check out their game based on THIS, even if I did not already know what I do about it. It is an enjoyable product.
Believe me, these guys will be anything you want them to be, to get rich.
Really?! So if I want them to be a good development team who produces a great game in WAR they will be? That is very reassuring to hear. I am glad to hear another's support of this game. Thanks Al.

No, they will only be nice, open friendly, cool, and will create a game that 80% of the gamers will probably enjoy.

If 80% like it that's not a bad thing so I fail to see what the problem is. 80% of gamers is a load of people.

But... that is not what you said. You said they would be exactly what we wanted them to be. Now you are saying they otherwise? Maybe this would be a better "conversation" if you just create a thread and argue with yourself in it? Or contradict yourself elsewhere? No point in filling up this thread with a one man argument. Hehe.

Hmmm... well I think I'm talking to an educated audience that can understand a meaning beyond the literal words. I meant they will try to appear to be very friendly and cool, if only to attract more people to follow their project.

Wait a minute! OMG! We are an educated audience, and no tmindless trolls who will play whatever crap is put in front of us? I am not sure I like your tone. And then, you claim they... maintain open communication with their target consumers so they can provide them something they enjoy, and we will purchase it to fulfill our personal entertainment wishes, thereby completing the cycle that is commerce? You are overstepping some bounds here, my fellow poster.

Well obviously since they're all actually cold-blooded reptile men from outer space controlling human civilization since time immemorial for their terrible, obscure purposes...
LOL! No man. I am injecting a bit of humor into a thread. It's okay bud. I am not bein seriously over the top. It's called humor, and it is still okay to laugh at it. I promise.
Mythic has always been very open with their community, they are willing to listen. They don't jump the gun in most cases. Sometimes taking months to analyze something before changing it.
They don't always make the decision that makes the most people happy, and often times for major changes they poll the community to get their take on it. (ML changes for DAoC for example)
They are generally one of the most community friendly companies I have ever delt with. They get the community involved as they don't just think it is their game to do as they see fit, they value the communities input.
This is even post EA. EA currently just seems to be a wallet right now, and letting them do as they have done in the past.

What's wrong with that? Do you realize what the alternative is?
And by the way you are directly insinuating in your posts that you reason to believe they are not as they appear and are covering something up by appearances. No two ways to read what you said, that is what you are implying, cut and dry. Care to give us the reasons you have to make those assumptions about their motives and "true personas" under this so called public front?
Make sure you give examples based on personal experience, but in the case that you don't have any, you can use second hand information. If you can't turn over to us any of that, then I shall continue to take them at face value as nothing they have put forth seems out of the ordinary as far as game devs/warhammer fanatics go.
If you can't turn up any concrete evidence that they are being false with us and concealing some kind of hidden agenda while distracting us with their positive attitudes and enthusiastic communication about their product, I'm gonna have to say that you either need to put down the pipe as it's making you paranoid delusional or turn off your internet for a little while because it's making you lose your rationality.
All I was saying is when an MMO is off track the developers usually close up and tighten what gets said and what doesn't. They start to release less and you don't any communication, its all one sided. I don't see that happening so I was just saying that it is a good sign. I am not saying "this proves the game is going to be everything we dreamed" I am just saying it's a clue that the game is on track and everything is running smoothly within the organization. Hope that clears things up on what I said at least.

oh yes. they are very active and release allot of info
yes...at least they are not like darkfall

I think what hes saying is basically even a used car salesman can be friendly and talk about anything you want to talk about (be it sports, movies, etc) just to ease you into the sale. Not that hes saying the devs are trying to pursuade you into becoming a fan using such tactics, just more of a general dont always associate open and friendly as being honest and trust worthy.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Who would have thunk it. People being nice to sell things. What is this world, nuts? That's never happened. Ever. Am I right? I mean, why would devs communicate with the community. Just to make money right? If you don't like to make money, well, I'll take some of it off your hands.
To the OP, yeah, I like that about Mythic too. They seem really in-tune with the community beceause, frankly, alot of them played DAoC and felt the same way as the players (ToA being a flop but we all make mistakes).

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Well...to be honest ...all game companies are businesses, and most business owners I know...are in it for the cash that can be made, and also to make back money that was invested to create the product in the first place.
Games cost millions these days to make.......so if they want to get rich ..I can't blame them one bit.
