War "Casual" Guilds...?

TalinTalin Member UncommonPosts: 923

I know this technically belongs in the 'Guilds' section of this forum, but I was curious if anyone has any recommendations for a casual mature  guild planning to play WAR (on the Order side)? I posted in the other forum but I know it isn't that active just yet, with WAR still months away from release. Thanks for any replies!

Well I have a casual guild that i'm attempting to build.  I actually only have a few members, so it's more like a start up guild (even though we were very active in DAOC at one point)

If your interested my guilds site is www.darkaurora.net.  We are casual.  The only other guilds i'm aware of that is recruiting are pretty hardcore / RP

    The Acolytes:

Nice of you to point us out (Acolytes) but we aren't that hardcore and we are RP-light. I refer you to this thread

The Arcane Order (TAO) is an guild that was started back in Asheron's Call I, and has persisted through the years in many other MMOs.  Over the last couple of years we went separate ways, but I decided to start it up again for WAR, and we'll be playing Order with a semi-casual direction.  I've obtained a copy of the CE so that we can establish what server we'll be on at release (with the headstart), and so that during Open Beta everyone can get info on the game and their classes.

If you are interested come give us a visit at our website, which is under construction as we speak.  :)

If this is the same TAO from Solclaim I would reccomend them. IF its the same from solclaim they where a highly respected guild and most of the members where alot of fun to hang out with.

It is very possible those were some of the long-time members that had branched off to other games.  We've always tried to make it feel more like a family, and fun.  But I haven't gamed online with many of them in a few years, so we're starting fresh this time and those that I can get in contact with will be invited back of course.   As we were established back in 1999, there have been many that have come and gone, but the name has generally stuck with us wherever we were.

Right now I've kept the re-launch of TAO pretty much a secret, as I wanted to get things in place first, but am always open to people looking for a good home.  And getting in on the "ground floor" early with TAO can only help in the long run, as with any guild.

Now if they'd only approve my closed beta app, we could really get the show on the road...

No offense but the represenation by several of your members here especially the AoC bound ones makes you come off very hardcore.  Only a few of course most I find are rather cool.

My friend was removed from The Acolytes because they require you to join their IRC chat.  They will also remove you if you don't post enough on their forums.

This is why i will join a guild on release, not before. I am also on east coast time, there is no way i'm RVRing at 3 am as a scheduled event.

mmhmmm, what we require is people who are on trial to have some activity whether it be on IRC, vent, or the forum, if they are active then it's a good sign that they are actually interested in the guild and will most likely be active in-game. I barely posted on the forum and wasn't on vent much but I was on IRC quite often whether I was AFK or not and I got in, it's really not that hard lol.

Guess I should mention that recruitment is currently closed so it doesn't matter anyway >.>

Just to back up what AlphaColyte said. We have members who have never been on IRC at all, or who tried it and didn't like it so don't use it. Plus we have members who very rarely post on the forums too. As of today we have never kicked out any members after they passed their trial period (of ten days). We have only recently intrduced a attendance policy but it's very loose, and it hasn't been implamented yet and is along the lines of if you disappear for a couple of months without saying why or telling us that you will then you are out. If you tell us beforehand then it doesn't matter. I'm guessing what happened with your friend is that he was just not active enough duing his ten day trial for us to get to know him well enough. Either forums, irc or vent. None matters as the trial is just so we get to know you as a person and see if you fit in, not to see if you're a hardcore player or are active everyday.

On the hardcore note, we are not a hardcore guild. As I said once our attendance policy is in place it will only be a matter of months (without reason) until we kick you, not days or weeks. If any of our members seem hardcore its just because they happened to have applied to our guild instead of another. We'd happily take casual players or hardcore players.
