For me Aion is the pinnacle of this fantasy MMO's era. Before flaming me, let me develop a bit.
I think they perfected all the components that makes what we would call today, a "classic fantasy MMO". And that could only come from a cross-breed MMO, based on both a western and earstern MMO culture. They are taking the best of each, adding a few new concepts, and mixing everything together. You have Aion. I think NCsoft can pull it off successfuly, heck with a $200m budget and the experience they have on both the western and eastern market, they actually are our best bet for this.
What i was trying to say at the beginning is that I believe we are at the end of an era. At least for the fantasy genre. If you are a regular reader of the MMO community in general, and here in particular, you will see that more and more people are getting bored of the current trend in MMOs. I don't see how we can push the current model further, it has been over-exploited and perfected, to a point I think Aion will be the last of its genre. Something major will happen in the fantasy MMO genre soon ("soon" meaning 3-5 years) that shall take the genre to another step. Maybe it will be Blizzard and its new MMO? Who knows.
Anyway you can expect a finished and polished game at the release, I have no doubt it will be great game.
PS: Forgive me any grammatical error, i'm not english native.
The first thing to catch my eye, of course, is the graphics and style. Aion is (to me) the prettiest looking game coming out. The 2nd and most important thing was the combat, it looks very fluid, and seems similar to WoW since you can move in combat (one of the reasons I loved WoW's combat). The main thing I couldn't stand about past MMOs was the fact you just stood still. The 3rd thing would be that it is a PvP game, which ties into the combat.
Aion would be a very good game if it didnt have terrible bugs and high requirements, and it would be successful if it has very creative and innovative content

Can't pick just one aspect that makes this game so appealing. It's all of the items you listed in your poll.
I had a revelation.

These things:
Eye-catching beautiful art.
demons and angels, Ive always liked that in a game for some reason.
The game looks like it could be lots of fun.
The style of the game, graphics, characters, pvp.
But the most important thing for me is that it's developped by NCsoft. (like lineage 2 )
and Aion belongs to MMORPG's (not CORPG, ACTION MMORPG etc.)
