Hey all,
For months now I haven't played an mmorpg, I have become so indecisive in choosing a new mmorpg that I've completely boycotted the whole genre and gone back to Starcraft: BroodWars. (lol, which has been pretty damn fun)
At first I had put all my hopes into Age of Conan as I got burnt out from playing World of Warcraft. But I've been waiting to see what the playerbase says about it.
Anyway, here is (so far) the choices that I have laid out on the table.
1. WoW - huge population is always a plus. Familiar with the game. Expansion coming.
2. Vanguard - Nobody seems to care much for this game. Lots of people complain that the combat is boring and the population is low.
3. AoC - Really wanted to give this game a shot until i saw a post about the limited amount of people in each zone, made it instantly unappealing. I guess I want to wait until the patch they are putting out soon to see what people have to say about the game after that.
4. WAR - warhammer sounds good, doesn't seem to be as much hype as there was over AoC but it is definately not out the question to wait for it and see what it yields.
So that's it. I just can't chose. Although I have thrown out the idea of going for hellgate london.
so far im leaning more towards WoW, probably because I'm familiar with the game and I know what to expect.
Why bother to post this here? Because I need your help in deciding which game best fits along the lines of what I want (I don't have the patience to get them all and try them all out then pick one)
What I want! - I want a game where there are guild activities (raids etc) I like to raid as well, PvE is my main focus. Crafting isn't a huge deal for me, and PvP is just a bonus, not something I would focus on.
The population issue is a big one for me because I live in Australia, therefore if there are 10k people playing a game, probably 10% of that number would be in Australia = a population relative to timezone of 1000 people which would make it hard to find a spot in a guild or in a regular raid.
I better stop here before it becomes a TLDR post.
Your opinions please!

Wow is always another option. I never liked it that much, but others, it is the best thing that ever happened.
Grab a buddy key from someone and give VG a try. I'm a PvP guy, so VG did not hold me long. However, for a PvE guy, it might be a VERY fun game.
I won't even look at AoC's videos because of nudity, so I have no opinion.
And, lastly, I don't know much about WAR, so others could give a better explanation.
Blessings,
MMO migrant.
You should try LOTRO. Great PVE and everything else you want especially since it is in the same vein as wow. I have a 10day buddy key with no restrictions if you want to try it.

Apparently Vanguard has improved alot. I'm wanting to give it a try myself...
I agree you should add LotRO to your list too.
I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about Vanguard. I was lucky, and unlucky, enough to play this game in beta and Ill say the visuals were quite stunning, but if I got more then 2 FPS and didnt crash every 15 minutes it would have been nice. So I quit for about a year. Came back post update 4 and right before update 5 and I must say, I am very impressed with the game now. The graphics are still amazing and alot of the bugs are gone and all in all its much smoother. I now run around with 20-30 fps on the highest graphics and it just looks so good.
As for the gameplay now, most people play on one server and although lower pop. now I have seen a lot more people running around day after day. The classes are very unique and there are 15 different classes to chose from which is nice and they seem to be pretty balance for solo and group play. Mounts every ten levels, specific race mounts and flying mounts later down the road. Its definetely worth a try. It does have high end raid content and is mostly PvE(one PVP FFA server).
Warhammer looks like it will be based alot around the constructs of Dark Age. PvE areas for leveling and PVP cities for fighting the opposite faction. The graphics are not quite as good as AoC or Vanguard, but the realm vs realm is fun. Only downside is the wait for the actual release.
