I checked the BBB, and they have an unsatifactory record.
I got sick of the empty promises and am tired of playing a paid beta. People need to open up their eyes...your getting ripped.

Come on mate it says: "The BBB processed a total of 62 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total of 62 complaints closed in 36 months, 53 were closed in the last year."
Nothing there for AoC..
Try Electronic Arts: http://goldengate.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=99&bbb=1116&firm=64196
"The BBB processed a total of 771 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total of 771 complaints closed in 36 months, 476 were closed in the last year."
Mythic: http://www.dc.bbb.org/report.html?national=Y&compid=23005882
Oh look mythic didnt reply to any complaints, no matter how little they received too.
SOE: http://sandiego.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=26&bbb=1186&firm=11000350
"BBB processed a total of 302 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total 302 complaints closed in the last 36 months, 69 were closed in the last 12 months."
good luck in finding a company with a satisfactory record.
here is some more for you:
Turbine: http://reports.bosbbb.org/Boston/Public/Reports/BrandedReport.aspx?firm=81889
"The Bureau processed a total of 29 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period. Of the total 29 complaints closed in the last 36 months, 16 were closed in the last 12 months. "
And some 2800 complaints is Blizzard: http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=13050668
Who actually have a good rating! When your that big you can employee more CSR's.
How many people played WoW and Asherons Call + AC2 + DDO + LoTRO compared to how many people played Anarchy Online. In other words what would be the ratio of customers to complints. Just common sense that the more customers you have the more likley that someone will complain. Anarchy Online had what 60 K customers at it's peak.
Comparing apples to apples FC has a lot more complaints per customer than Blizzard, SOE, Turbine, Mythic and Cryptic all combined.

"90% of all statistics can be made to say anything 50% of the time."
Whoever said that in gest, I say in seriousness. While its true that it seems most everyone has an unsatisfactory record that Avery pointed out (which *might* make the rating itself a bit meaningless), nevertheless, Funcom still has an unsatisfactory rating.
Regardless of who else has an unsatisfactory record, and regardless of how meaningless or meaningfull that record means, there is one fact that can't be ignored, covered up, or made forgotten about by posting other stats: Funcom has an unsatifactory BBB rating.
Interpret that as you will.
One would hope that Funcom would say "To hell with the other ratings of other companies, lets do what we can do to get ours better" rather than saying "Well everyone else is unsatisfactory, to hell with trying to improve ours." From a personal standpoint, I am interpreting Avery's replies as an argument for the latter example. I hope I am interpreting that wrong.

Hehe, I think the OP was a bit pwned. Good job. I dont really like AoC, but to try to find excuses like this is lame...
Oh look, a new and original thread about a topic thats never been discussed before!
/facepalm
PS: The game is far from a failure.
I do like AoC, but agree with you entirely,
Imho if you don't like the game and bought it, just cancel and go on your merry way, searching for excuses to try and berate the existing subscribers into a similar frame of mind is just plain pathetic.
Thing is 53 complaints from 62 of the past 3yrs have been dealt with. Better than some other companies listed there - regardless of how popular a game is // how ever many subs a game has - it still shows they do something with the complaints they receive.
Bottom line is the report has nothing to do with AoC nor paying for beta or whatever excuse people what to bring forward in tying the report to AoC.
I whole heartedly agree with Avery's last post. The BBB report bears no impact on the state of AoC in any fashion whatsoever.
Two completely unrelated topics, a poor attempt for someone to "prove" why their negative thoughts about this game is "right". It doesn't invalidate his feeling about the game however, he doesn't like it plain and simple and there is nothing wrong with that. But to associate that with the BBB report to "justify" that his reasons are the truth is just plain ridiculous in my opinion.

So Avery how long has AO been free to play? They have had 62 complaints over a free game, which maybe had 30 K players in 2005. Thats a pretty bad ratio if you ask me.

Funcom has had other games too other than Anarchy Online. The Longest Journey comes to mind off the top of my head and I know there havebeen others. Do we know that all these complaints are from the subscriber base of Anarchy Online? Not a dig, just that I don't think the report states where these complaints originate from. Some of them could come from other business partners for all we know and not just the end-users of their products.
Thats why I think these stats need to be taken with a grain of salt. Without knowing the context of the complaints, its hard for me personally to get a solid feeling for what they could mean.

Your assuming they are all for AO and all 3 yrs ago - last time I checked AO had been out longer and the report doesnt do a break down of which games? Also do you not have to pay a sub for parts of AO still today? I dunno even if it all was on AO 62 peoplw complained 53 were satisfied out of how many people who played all of FC's games - thats a good ratio is it not?

You were the one that brought up that the complaints were from the last three years. As far as just AO, looking at FC's "stable" of games I would guess AO was their one big success before AoC. Does not matter anyway it is pretty common knowledge that before Dark and Light and Mourning that most of us considered AO the worst launch in MMORPG history.
As far as their CS I filed a tech ticket by email over 3 weeks ago and still have not heard crap from them. I fixed it by reformatting the drive it was on out of pure frustration when I still had received zero help a week later. I guess they figured that when they broke the game with their patch I would just keep on paying them 15 bucks a month to see a MS error screen.
I should file a complaint with the better business myself but it is not worth my time. I got bored with the game anyway less than 4 days after I fixed it and have not logged on since.

It's not that we need to open up our eyes....it is YOU that needs to realize something. Some of us know that most new MMO's will be like a paid beta. I understand this, but I also support Funcom with my money. Do you know why? No, not because I'm an idiot, but because I believe in the idea of this game, and think it could and will be good. Some of us are just supporting them, and playing what's there for now.
That's the job for investors, not players. As players, the general market consumer, we're paying for a product. The problem is this said product is not complete, yet, we're paying full market price.
I'm having fun playing the game.
I just turned 40 and crawled up onto my Mammoth. Its the most amazing Mount I've owned in any MMO i've ever played.
Why am I getting "ripped"?
