Can't get into Character screen after reinstalling....:(

ok here it is in a nutshell....so for any of you problem solvers outthere that might be able to help me withthis one...i'll love you longtime. 

i played VG on my system since it's release with one adjustment i had to make...i upgraded my graphics card to the ge force 7600 GS.  mobo is a A7N8X deluxe....so a bit old.  at any rate it worked fine is my point so i wont go on about the specs of my gear unless someone feels it necessary.  the big and small is i played the game fine since throwing in the new graphics card.  about a month ago the graphics card went.....took me a bit of time to confirm it was the video card cause i'm not very computer savy....last week i figured ok i'll buy a new apg card and throw it in so i went with the ge force 7600 GT...went to gt as i read it was a noticable stepup from the Gs....ineed AGP for my system can't use pci express....

now...i then reinstalled the game and waited the 4 hours for everything to patch up....but after all this now for some reason i get a "unrecoverable error" when i hit play.....to be specific i go through the launchpad...hit play and get the vanguard screen i always used to get on my way to picking my character...butthen after a fewseconds i get an unrecoverable error....happens everytime and i can't get in. 

here's a bit more info that might help.....i did notice this problem when i fooled around with some drivers for my mobo at an earlier date.  i was having trouble getting my camera to work in the usb port...after no luck with the camera i went to play vanguard and had the problem i justdescribed......bummer....only thing i could think of was that it had something to do with my "fiddling around" with drivers and what not while trying to get my camerato work...so i did a system restore and it worked fine...until now.  now as i described after installing my new card im getting the same problem.  

also know that i did try to get intot the game before loading up drivers taht may have given me problems the first time......with no luck.  anyone have any suggestions?
