Quoted for truth. Sadly.  However, I will not be buying the 360 version because I already got ripped off once.

Fact is, computers are a pain in the ass to develop for. What works fine for Intel might have problems with AMD, or Nvidia might have a problem while ATI sails through fine. And then of course are all of the chipsets out there, combined with every concievable mixup between all of the different vendors and basically it becomes a nightmare, with it being inconcievable that a developer can test for every possible PC makeup out there.

Ya its amazing how microsoft can write an os for all these various types of hardware companies producing one of the fastest and most stable Os's with xp.. Yet when another company writing a simple 3d game client can't..

You need to realize other gaming companies code good games that run on all kinds of hardware.. They may not necessarily be mmo's but some are with wow, and eq2 which run fine on all the latest hardware just fine.

The problem with AoC is it was coded for hardware that isn't out yet or is considered high end right now. Eq2 did the same thing, it took a few years for hardware to catch up to eq2 and allow users to run it like it was intended to run and look..

All AoC really had to do was have low texture version with modified shader 1.0-2x system that allowed people on mid to low end machines to run the game at 30 fps with lesser quality graphics. Eq2's engine allows people to crank complex shaders up or keep them off for improved performance with slightly less quality. I always ran eq2 with shaders off, high character textures and low world textures.. Its looked fine and ran fine.. AoC has no option for this.. Turning the graphics down in aoc means you're getting horrible frames and ugly looking textures and models. Turning the settings up means things look nicer and you still just loose a bit of fps..

All I really wanted was the option to run the game with 30 steady fps on my hardware without having to pay 300 for a new card.. I've also played the game on my brothers pc which has a really niec card in it.. Its got that 768 mb 8800 384 bit nvidia card which I can't seem to even find anywhere for sale.. He was getting 40-60 fps on high settings with shadows off.. It looked nice, ran nice but still the models and textures and weapon designs sucked ass... Thats what made my decision to not buy a new video card..

Curious. I myself just installed a new computer, Intel 6850 with 4 gigs RAM, 8800GTS 512 (G92 core) and Windows Vista 64 and am getting frames of 50-90 consistently at high, with shader 3.0.

Just proving my point that it's not always the fault of game. You're trying to show that a high end video card can't even run the game well, whereas my card runs it just fine. Also only cost me $160, so I'm not sure why you would need a $300 card.

keep in mind you have a fresh install of everything too, all programs seem to run wonderfully on a brand new system.

Over on the AOC tech forums there are plenty of people with high spec rigs who say, yeah the game was running great for me.  Then stuff starts happening.  So if you are one of the lucky ones for whom the game runs great, keep your fingers crossed.  That could change anytime, especially with so many patches coming so fast together.

Age of Conan is not build for the Xbox, it's build for the PC and dumbed down for the Xbox360 later on in the form of a port. If Age of Conan was build with the 360 in mind it would
    - Be released prior or simultaneously with the PC version
    - The client would be much, much smaller.Age of Conan is 30gb, the vast majority of Xbox360 owners have a 20gb hard drive.

Look at the valve document and read the developers notes.  I think that will answer your statements.

Umm, Valve released the Orange Box simulataneously with the console version, and on top of that it doesn't have space issues, like AoC does.

I have a lowly geforce 6200 with 128 mbs 1.7 gigs of ram and a 2.6 intel processor lol my machine is shit and technically I'm not supposed to be able to run the game at all but I run it at medium setting and get about 15-20 FPS. I spent so much time waiting to see if conan was good or not especially when I started seeing all kinds of people putting it down. I went to the store and bought the game hoping I could run it somehow, so far I've been playing for 3 days and have myself a lvl 35 conqueror the game is great and all the people I've seen bashing it are people who want to bitch about any little thing like I had figured. Yes the game has bugs, but the development team constantly update. You must somehow feel good about yourself for stating the obvious that this game was meant to be tailored for the 360, but the point is it runs fine even on a piece of crap machine like mine, and I have yet to see any major bugs. I'm tired of having to explain it all so I'll be leaving with this. Look at tabula rasa's release and how horribly bugged that was then be thankful age of conan is atleast playable.

(edit) haha oh btw I just checked your info neya, and as it seems all you do is talk shit about this game. You may have your opinions, but really I don't understand why you've decided to talk so much garbage about it....yes what you say about the age of conan being tailored to the 360 may be true, but it runs fine and at the moment I haven't seen any major bugs so theres no reason people shouldn't try it. the point of this edit is to try and convince you away from your shit talking ways, but I doubt it will make a difference.

Wow to the OP neya, you sure have a extensive detailed bunch of anti AOC in your post history. One might think you have some sort of specific agenda to trash the game for a alterier purpose.

I agree with one thing, the devs need to polish this game quickly. AOC did need more time to release however Funcom was close to bankruptcy. It was mostly out of dire need to get the game released. That in no way excuses it, just not the reasons you are claiming.

Funcom is out of the hole, now the ball is in their court.

AOC is a decent game and 2 facts invalidate your claim on you saying PC is running a xbox port. Both already stated, #1 the huge file size. No way can a 360 support that much for 1 game. #2 Instances were NOT designed for xbox they were designed so the world around you don't stream in and pop up unatural looking. It's designed for view distance and detail of the world. It workd very well for that because it's the ONLY MMO that I don't see things pop up with the streaming rendering of the zonless MMO's

The instances do only pop up when enough people are on, which is usually. It is because of the hog on rescources the stunning character models are.

City of Heroes/Villians is designed THIS EXACT WAY. Zones that instance when more then 200 are in the zone. It's not the same amount, but COH is much less eyecandy. You saying COH was designed for XBOX too?

Zones are a way to handle reality of the limits of computers. EVEN EVE HAS ZONES. Everytime you jump systems you switch zones. EVE is just smart to work the zones into the games theme.

Ideally we are looking for a seamless way to acomplish this but no designer has solved this issue to date.

However your posts reek of alterier motives other then just spending so much time with all your super detailed past posts just to help some people "see the light" on mmorpg.com about the evil of AOC.

If you don't like the game, HEY I got an idea, PLAY SOMETHING ELSE.

Imagine that. But again, is this the fault of the game or the operating system? So many people want to blame the game without an understanding of just what the OS is responsible for and what a mess it truly is.

Rofl, Neya, what game do you play?

Checking your post history makes for some interesting reading, you warn people not to buy EQ2, WoW to mention but a few.

How can Aoc stand a chance in your eyes if WoW, all singing and dancing doesnt make the grade for you.

Do you enjoy coming on MMORPG forums and warning people not to play games for one silly reason or another?

Your current post is fundamentally floored btw since the PC and the xbox architecture are the same, as pointed out by someone else.

Get a life or at least get a game lol!

Also stop telling people to read a cross system article that pertains to a different game and a different company for back up. If it's not about AoC, and /or Funcom then it doesn't matter.

If the past actions of their character determine them to be idiotic then by all means it certainly pertains to the argument. oh and dont tell people what to do....*steals your dirtbike*
