Is this a rut? If so, I need help
Ok, I put a ton of thought into this over the weekend. You know my
first MMORPG was WOW. I was like holy cow. All of these people, huge
world etc. Now the PVE portion got a bit old until the 60-70 stuff.
The graphics are a bit outdated. I still actually enjoy the PVP
portion. I have tried Guild Wars - fast to level good pvp but grew
old. I tried Vanguard at release - ick. I tried Eve - too slow and
boring for me. I tried EQ and EQ 2 but having my first MMO be WOW I
liked WOW more especially for the PVP. I tried LotRO and DDO, they
were ok but did not keep my attention. I then got really excited for
AoC. I looked at the graphics and was like wow, this is sweet. The PVE
portion was great but I am now finding myself in the "I sure feel
alone in this world". I don't mind instancing that much but I loved
the MASSIVE feeling WOW gave me. Another thing I don't like about AOC
is the lack of real PVP. My favorite PVP ever was original open world
Taren Mill PVP. AOC is gorgeous but not holding my attention. At least
not yet and not enough to pay $15 a month. Soo much potential but ,
well I don't know.
So here we are today. I love the rogue class. Was my first and still
love it. Have rolled 3 alliance rogues and 1 horde. Picked undead
because of the racial. On to my problem. I only want to pay for one
game a month. So, PVE? AOC wins from the games I have tried. PVP (fun
factor only) WOW wins. Maybe just me but AOC PVP does not sound like
fun with 5 button combos. For some maybe but not me.
I figure my eventual status will be either playing the new WOW
expansion or WAR. Until then I could just plug along with AOC or PVP
in WOW. I could PVP with you but think the undead looks and runs
stupid. I like my NE rogue so the closest I can come is BE Rogue.
Since playing from release with multiple characters I don't think I
could level another one from 1 - 70.
I think I am in a rut. Suggestions?

If you like the faction vs. faction warfare of WoW, then choose the Bane server for AoC. It makes the 3 races (Aquilonian, Cimmerian, Stygian) fight against each other. AoC also has the siege battles.
That's a good point. I don't think it will make or break my decision but I should at least try it while my subscription is active.
You have fallen into a rut.. an interesting rut as well. Why interesting? Well, many players here describe WoW as shallow, easy, mindless gameplay with pointless PvP. Not in a mean, rude, arrogant or ignorant way, but I am one of them. I played WoW on SEVERAL occasions, only to get to level 30 or 40. I got to level 55+ on a private server, though. All to say that you have fallen into a rut for sure.
My first MMO was EQ1. I LOVED it. Many people today would disagree, because its ugly, grindy (in a certain regard), group centric, item centric, pretty pointless (in some cases) PvP and PvP is not balanced.
All that to say this: join the club my friend. Wait for a upcoming title and hope that it fits what you're looking for.
