Frankly I hope not. First of all Gameguard is an utter failure in terms of keeping botters away. The only thing it does is prevent people form using gaming pads like the Nos 52, Ideazon Fang and gaming keyboards like the G15/G11 keyboard from Logitech. Gameguard has done nothing to stop botting in L2. The best course of action is to not put any large emphasis on gold/money drops in the game along with removing the pointless repetitive grinds seen in games like L2 which has fostered the creation of such a large botting/farming community.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
GameGuard is the biggest failure in security i've ever seen, and hey, it even manages to create conflicts with every piece of legitimate software and hardware of your computer!
The Aion client used GG in CBT1 and CBT2. Probably will in CBT3 and release. Although I love Aion, I hate GG and think it's shit too. But it won't stop me from playing the game. NCsoft isn't going to rely on GG to stop botting, they're going to take a much more active role in killing bots in Aion compared to L2 regardless.
With Lineage 2 the source code of the game was stolen before release and it spreaded. Thats why it was so easy to make very complex BOT software for it and we saw all the train botting, private servers and all the bad things.
what's the point of even putting in game guard. That thing is useless. WoW did fine without it, and almost every other non korean game that don't use it does alright. Not like games that use game guard actually have less bots anyway.

Guys, gameguard is not there to "stop bots" per se.
It is just a deterent for certain 3rd party software as well as to make it so that the choices for creating methods of interfacing with the client narrowed.
I do believe wow used a similar type of software though I don't know if it is there own creating or from a another company.
I seem to remember a thread on this site talking about it.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I remember how it protected me from running my hardware monitoring soft and lots of other stuff (Media Player Classic for example, wtf, im not allowed to watch pron while playing or?:P)
its a bloatware fosho, really hope they dont use it
Man please close this thread. This isn't important at all, it's going about the Game. And nobody uses Bots! Otherwise it sucks. Thanks.
Not important? i actually would love to know if the final AION release will have GameGuard or not, Since gameguard Manages to generate blue screens in my computer i must be prepared -.- .
nProtect GameGuard is a game security program that can defend from game hack or hacking attempt at client end. Gameguard also blocks out WPE programs along with the macros in the logitech game keyboards. I can get more in depth on how exactly GameGuard works, but wikipedia and other sources are a great learning experience for others who are curious as to how things work.

in gametime its a worthless piece of junk tho, it just causes lag, chrashes, glitches and worse while it doesnt have a single effect on what it is supposed to effect (macro's, bots etc)
Im not a fan of Gameguard either in all honesty, some previous games I've played have used it and it causes my MERC gaming keyboard software to crash and basically renders the gaming side of it useless. At times its caused the entire keyboard to stop working altogether and I have to reboot to get it to work again.
Im all for companies stopping cheating, hacking and exploiting in games, but they should at least make sure that genuine players can access the game without issues.
The actual versions of gameguard I've tested on certain recently released F2P korean games seemed way more stable than the previous versions, I don't know about this too much, but I'd just say let's wait and see. So far there aren't any report about gameguard's behavior in Aion from the Korean testers that we know of.

This thread is vitally important, because if Gameguard is in Release I will not be buying this game no matter how wonderful the game seems to be. Do the research yourself - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameGuard - GameGuard is considered by most people to be:
a) a rootkit (and as such potentially harmful to the security of your OS)
b) plagued with bugs
c) destructive to legitimate software (see list on previously link)
So, if and when anyone can confirm that Game Guard is going to be in the final release... please let us know.

It doesn't prevent you from using the G15, it prevents you from using macros on the G15 which makes sense if you want to stop people afk playing.
As to L2, never played but this isn't L2 and I'd rather have it than not. I don't plan to cheat and if it helps, even a little, it's a good thing.

Little surprise for you I guess...WoW has it's own version of Gameguard. It's called Warden.

Wikipedia is hardly the best way to backup your argument. And Gameguard stops you from playing, I'm just glad that I won't have to put up with your whining in game.
I've been playing Aion at work and at home, through various firewalls and antivirus programs, without any problems at all. Saying that is is "destructive to legitimate software" is just stupid.
Gameguard will be in the release, and for all of those who have chosen this as their excuse for not playing: Who cares?

Bots wont be much of a problem like in Lineage 2.
With Lineage 2 the source code of the game was stolen before release and it spreaded. Thats why it was so easy to make very complex BOT software for it and we saw all the train botting, private servers and all the bad things.
Im not even worried about Aion.

are you guys sure that gameguard is made to stop bots? One would think no game would ever use it again if it was its sole purpose.
I always thought it was protection from keyloggers TBH.
same
