Maybe instead of working on expansions they should finish making the game first.
Maybe before posting you should get your shit strait. The isle of the dawn is a individually downloadable trial area that they're working on that also functions as an additional newbie zone.
Gloomie does have a sorta point there, though. If they make the isle misrepresentative of the rest of the game, it could make things worse, not better. If they have a polished trial, the game should have at least the same amount of polish, if not more.

The game is fine now, there its as polished as you can get, and im sure the Trial island will be just the same.
This isnt just for a trial, its also to help optimize characters and do many other long term things with the game.
Its the best thing they can do right now for Vanguard.
I hope the dev team get this trial Island out the door soon so it can free members of the dev team up to start work on fleshing out the main game with content.

Alright, well that sounds good. I wasn't flaming the game ( sorry if it sounded that way ). Just don't figure seeing "There should be a trial!!" turn into "Don't believe the trial!!", as we've seen happen with a few other games in the past, being much better for the game.
Yes they are 'bringin sexy back' (words from the developers) last time, like month ago they finished the male models and were doing female bodies. They should be done next month, hopefully before Trial Island.
Also....don't believe the haters...the game is fine, its addictive, fun, best thing out there right now.
Maybe instead of working on expansions they should finish making the game first.
lol haters...talking non-sense
I don't get it why ppl hate this game so much
Quite simply, first impressions last.
This is why it's essential for MMO developers to launch quality games, they really only get one chance.
For example, people don't hate on LotRO very much, it had a nice smooth launch... People don't really rave about it either, because it's quite an average game.
Vanguard will always have it's haters, they messed up bigtime with the launch and whereas it will survive, it will never be that huge success it should / could have been due to the image it has and that image will stick.
Funcom are in a similar position, they rushed Age of Conan out of the door. They still have a chance to save it's reputation though if they can fix everything up and introduce a lot of the promised features in the next month (two at most).
but seriously....the best MMORPG ever was launched in a bad state and still its highest subscribers number came like 5 years later all because of word of mouth...I think VG can do this(DOING IT), depends on the competition also but i'm just hoping.
I find Vanguard to be very enjoyable, all I'm saying is that once an idea is firmly lodged in someone's mind it's quite hard to convince them otherwise.
I was as let down as the next person when Vanguard released in the state it did, I still remember the disbeleif in /ooc in beta when the release date was announced.
I just hate when ppl say first impressions last, if everyone had this view no one would be playing a lot of games, for example eve, on average 26,000 people are playing that game at any one time, I played the closed beta and the game was riddled with bugs, like getting stuck in planets etc, there are even bugs now.
First impressions go away, like someone said to me, it was fasionable to hate this game, and that sounds true, i doubt half the haters haven't even played the game, just hate it because someone they respect hate it too.
Back to the subject at hand, Isle of Dawn is a great idea, it gets ppl to see a little taster of the game, it stops the annoying gold sellers from disterbing the real game, and also a great way to test new things out. I'm sure when ppl play the game they will realise its the best mmorpg out there by a long way, and will sub up and the money will be used to add more content for the lvl 50's and fix those little bugs that are left.

I play Vanguard and I like the game, but I call it like I see it. First impressions do last and it's the bane of the MMO community.
Sweet! I'm looking forward for the trial to bring new players into the game. I think they'll be impressed with the ways things are and have changed and how they keep improving. They only thing lacking about this game is the population (besides the animaitons/char customization which is coming), especially Sartok. Tho, I have no problem finding players on Xeth and Seradon. You can solo this to 50, but it's only half the fun when your with a group. I have such a blast when I'm in a group and running groups quests or dungeon running. My big wish come true is somewhere down the future they give Sartok (pvp server) some love, to get more ppl to play there.
I am willing to give VG another shot, when player models and some other stuff is done. On the other hand, there is so much to do in terms of atmoshere... I dunno if they really can do it, the speed of their work does not look too promising.

I hated the game on the first install. My first impressions of the game were really poor. I'm actually re-installing it right now. We shall see how this goes.

I'm not convinced by the trial isle idea still, but I guess it's better than nothing...

Sounds interesting. I would be willing to give Vanguard another look, but I heard they are reworking the avatars. Any word on when that will happen?

The game really has come together since then.
any idea when the trial will be out at all?
Soon (tm)

I concure with sbanting. Using "First impressions last" with VG is getting pretty old pretty fast.
VG is shaping up to be the best tradtional MMO out, so put that in your hat and chew on it!
I wish they had leaked screenshots of the new character models instead. Meh.
Right click and view picture. (I'm using FF)
