me and my room mates are looking for a new game
we used to play SWG then went to VG and would now like to find a new game
my room mates and I all have the toy maker play style save 1 who is combat but tends to go with the same games we do
we prefer a game that has an in depth crafting system
we like one with a good housing system such as swg has
we prefer a well run player driven economy
we do not like games with forced pvp and will avoid at all cost
we like games with an in depth experience (NOT JUST A HACK AND SLASH but a feeling that you are actually part of the world and can make a difference )
we prefer a skill based system ware you dictate who you are in the world and are not stuck to a cookie cutter class such as prenge swg was but we wont hold our breath lol :P as we have never seen anything like it since the dredfull day swg went cookie cutter
and although im probably dreaming hear lol NO GOLD SELLING again wont hold our breath on that one either lol
we prefer scifi but will except fantasy as well
well thats what were looking for if any one knows any game that fits this please do tell us

Silkroad Online International - If you choose the Chinese fraction for a character then you can do what ever you want with it. The Europe fraction...not so much. If you hit level 20 you can choose a job between a theif, a hunter, and a merchant. Merchants sells goods, theifs tryto strip merchants of goods and sell them on the black market, and hunter protects merchants from theifs. You can only PvP if you wear a special scarff. The game has a balance theory, an alchemy window, and I'm not sure on crafting. Usaslly cities are laggy because of the amount of people setting shops.
Perfect World Interantional - Got a great crafting system that includes being a tailor, blacksmith, jeweler, and a pharmacist. You got tons of people selling things. PvP dosen't come until level 30. Amazing character costumanztions. But it is kind off cookie cutterish. And you have territorial wars.

actually we were on silkroad while we were waiting for vanguard
crafting was a little dry and all you could make were these attachments for weapons via there alchemy system
and after level 10 any one who wanted too could force you into pvp
that and if you weren't forced into pvp the player spawned thiefs were a pain in the ass espesuly if you wanted to try some of the other things in the game they got in your way big time
(now im not talking your own spawned thfs but the ones spawned by high level thfs siting in COPs in order to cheat the system and kill off the low level traders that they couldent attack)
other then that it was a decent enough game for a distraction game between swg and vg
and i did like the artwork in the game and got close to max level but it just wasn't the type of game that would hold us long as it offered close to nothing aside from a hack and slash
but i will have to admit it did have its good points and was enjoyable for a short time
as for the other one i haven't tried it and might look at it but with the pvp after 30 being such a turn off i dont know if we would stay long if it is forced
For Perfect World I'm not sure about PvP because I'm not there yet. But you have battle arenas in every city. And really if you don't want to PK you can just run away from the person who attacking you.

Well, with the news that it will be back online soon, I'd say you should give The Saga of Ryzom a try.
* It has a very-indepth crafting system.
* Player housing is present
* The community is very-tight knit and with it comes a player-run economy.
* You really do feel a part of the world. It's a sandbox game, so you aren't forced to quest. Apart from that, mobs run up to you and sniff you if you walk past them for example, and there is no mindless hacking and slashing as you can create your own versions of spells.
* Obviously the above makes it skill-based
* I've never seen a gold-selling advert to be honest, so chat is nice a empty!
* It's a fantasy sci-fi MMO. Basically you play on an alien planet called Atys, which is provides everything you need to survive thanks to it being one giant tree basically. There are fantasy-like races, as well as races that tend more towards sci-fi. Resources and creatures look very alien-like and unique. Of course, one is allowed to use magic too. What this creates is the perfect mix of sci-fi and fantasy.
As mentioned earlier, the servers will be back online soon. The game was shut down due to bankrupcy, but it has since been purchased and revived!
