I am a vet player of WoW, SWG, Lotro, EQ2 and I have been looking around recently for a new mmo to play. I just got a new pc that should be able to handle AoC (on paper anyways) and I want somethin new. Got bored with WoW, and lotro just seemed to be WoW repackaged. Still play SWG, and havent played EQ2 in a while.

I downloaded the odd 3 day trial and have been playin, and I am surprised to say I really do enjoy it, more than I have any other MMO i have tried recently. I would like to continue playin, but I don't know if it is worth payin for atm.

What I would like to know is, are there any TR vet players that could tell me some stuff about the higher level stuff, and if I should go ahead with it.

Edit:

Was looking around at prices and found it for $15 at Direct2Drive which includes the first month free.

You can currently get the game from Gamestop for $15, so I decided to snag it.

I seriously doubt I will last past the first free montjh, but it seems like I'll get $15 out of it.  However if the two you are looking at are TR and AoC, AoC is probably the better game overall.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

its 4.98 at amazon probably 3$ shipping. i dont even think it is worth the 15 honestly. the glitches start to wear on you and you...oh wait can you see the whole world chat on a trial? if not it largely consists of people complaining about the game. i had the same reaction though, i played the CB and it was ugly so i stopped, then i saw the 3 day trial and decided to give it a go, used my preorder key (that sat around forever) and by the time i got to level 30 i could take it nomore. not enough there to sustain me, and most likely you since those games you listed are all pretty enthralling.

i think if it makes it another year and they actually have an expansion with mechs (this would happen some time after aion) and fix ALL the issues the game currently has it would be a really tight game. but for now ....

you just made me think of something, AoC and TR have ALOT in common.."unique" combat systems, totally broken crafting @ launch, potential and hype out the keister, horrible launches, big names (conan and garriot), nice early levels then desolation, graphic engines too powerful for their own good, great soundtracks, b/s presell items, and 3 days early acess to the games for presell (though 1 of these games boned alot o people on the last part).

dont know what to tell ya, 7-15 $ for TR is probably the better way to go than 50$ for the barbarian butt rape.

yeah, I have been debatin with myself over buying AoC or not, but I think atm its not worth that $50.

$15 for TR might be the way to go for me. Cheap, and get the month free, enough to go through and see how much potential it has for me.

    Thanks for the advice.

Ha, yeah, hadn't though of that.

My initial impressions based on one hour of play:

"Sweet mother of god does this game run like ass on my PC."

    "Guns and lightning bolts, cool!"

There are some helpful aspects being brought on in the near future for the emmense graphics load. Like 2 months away.

But, ya, if you like the really emmersive games like EQ and SWG (pre-nge) where there is a ton to do after combat, then TR won't fulfill you.

It's very get in, kill shit, get out. It's not very grindy, but on the flip side, there's -zero- sandbox. The combat system and look of the game have to be enough to carry it for someone right now.

A lot is being promiced, and I'm optimistic about the future of the game, but right now it's a shooter w/ some multiplayer elements. It's not a full blown MMO in the sence that most people think.

I think thats what I like about it right now, its different. I am still playin SWG, although its not as indepth or fun as pre-nge, but still enjoyin it. Also, for 15 dollars, it may be worth it.  I have payed more for 360 games that wouldnt last as long as I will play this.,
