As long as there are no flying mounts, sure, why not. Skipping content via the aerial route is the worse immersion killer.
Quite the speculation. However, they could be nothing more than quest-givers or dragon-mount sales, or something of that nature. We'll just have to see.

Oh really? You've played it? How is it? Didn't realize it was out yet.

I was watching a WAR video where two dragons were up in the sky fighting over a tower. So yeah there'll be flying stuff that fights eachother.

I think using dragons as siege weapons would be a pretty slick mechanic.
Similar to the big summon in Alterac Valley in WoW.
Other than the long timers on the summons in Alterac Valley, I loved a fight when someone summoned a HUGE boss style NPC in PvP. Summoning or paying a dragon to fight for you could be a lot of fun.... as long as they didn't have to stand around for 10 minutes before moving towards the enemy.
"Alright everyone, throw some coin into the wheelbarrow, we're going to go pay the dragon to roast those dwarves!"
i feel nausiated when ever i hear WoW and WAR mentioned in the same sentence......don't come to WAR looking for WoW.
I certainly meant no disrespect to the Warhammer IP, but you have to admit that even if you loathe WoW - there are still some good mechanics in there that can be fun in other games.
I'm coming to WAR for some good RvR. I've never had more fun in PvP than I did in DAoC. Hopefully WAR's RvR will be awesome too. Those dragon pics do have me curious though. Could they be part of a scripted scene for a quest chain maybe?
Its possible...they could just be character art thats not even made it into the game. They could be PQ bosses, Dungeon Mobs, or just NPC's that are in the world.
They don't show you much of how the world really is but the NPC's could be used for alot of interesting things that go on in the game world. including npc mounted combat since there's no player mounted combat (thank god for now atleast).
Good. You should go play it.
Anyway, /shakes head, I think flying combat will be something that may be introduced later on, but for the time being I have no interest in it.
im just curious how WoW has flying mount combat since you can't FLY mounts anywhere but in the TBC areas. The new areas don't support the flying mounts...i guess its like those open world areas where you ride a generic mount that flies on a path...talk about lame. All that hard work & time for a flying mount of your own and its worthless outside of TBC lol
flying mounts work in northrend, dont know why people are so suprised by this idea, why would they make it useless in a expansion where you can get faster flying mounts(310% no extra skill) the videos even show them in northrend. but you cant fly till 77 in northrend. Please look thins up before talking about it . Also on this part im not sure on this one but i think flying combat is only done in certain quests with just a special gyro copter.
ANYWAY back to WAR , i dont think they will have flying mounts honestly, its not very WARish, Now if its was 40k well hell yeah flying vehicals, The most flying i think you will see is Orcs being launched by catapaults. Anyway for quick transportation i hope its different for every race, For dark Evles and chaos i expect portals, orcs, i have no clue, some crazy catapault with with a catch system.

They have stated before that they are treating this more as a Game then a World, cut the boring crap get to the game. not saying your wrong or right or there is flying mounts ect, just sticking that out there as something to think on.

so you spend all this time to get to 70 get your flying mount ... go to the Northrend and you can't use your mount again till 77? That kinda spells epic failure in my view. Either that or says "You can use the Northrend specific mounts until 77" which is still epic failure.
i never claimed i knew everything about WoW i'm going off what I've garnered from statements like "you can't fly until your 77" that says to me "You can't use your old mounts in the new area"
btw they've already announced the player mount types for war...or are you talking about the ships/whatever that take you between capitols?

Blizzard is so smart, instead of thinking about it before they put in flying mounts, they just said you can't fly in Northrend until 77 because they don't want you to just "fly over all the scenery and content they worked hard to create".
--------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

yeah i mean the big transportation of areas, not the players mounts, they actually have a good amount on the player mounts, there is video slideshow of a good chunk of them and their 3 versions.
Im curious just how to would move large distances.
sry about sounding like a Ass just so many people have asked me it before lol nothing personal.
I dont know what they've decided on mass transportation its one of the things they pretty much never talk about other than you can go to other areas.
btw wow flying mounts = failure in my opinion im so glad they won't be in WAR lol
lore wise they can always put them in later. I have some Wood Elf Warhawk riders in my room (unpainted, those models are crazy detailed) and generals on dragons could fly as well. not to mention an empire favorite, gryphons. most races had access to some sort of beast for heroes to fly on. game wise it would be terrible. epic battles are epic because 2 forces meet. once you add flying people start going around each other, we've seen it in WoW, flying mounts killed world PvP.
So lets all hope we see no flying mounts, or very few.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
Battlegrounds & Arenas killed World PvP in WoW long before flying mounts ever came around.
I thought it was when they made a game called world of warcraft based on PvE.
Nah its was the flying mounts that killed World PvP, one of the only mistakes I think Blizzard has made with WoW was flying mounts. BG's and Areans have there place and work well.
But flying mounts in WAR.. nah I hate WAR (played it .. ./yawn) WAr is about PvP and having players fly away like they can in WoW will destory that aspect.
arena's did not kill world PvP long before flying mounts came along, because the real arena wasn't added till after people had flying mounts. you just had unrated matches back then.
and yes, BGs hurt world PvP. but even without attacking Ironforge there was still world PVP. the old days of STV, silithus and winterspring. but the BC zones lack that because of flying mounts. as soon as you ding 70 you fly everywhere (or 68), roads are no longer choke points to get players to fight and the only fighting is sudden ganks. a mage PoM pyros you do death while you are fighting a mob, and you come back only to see the mage way in the air.
BGs hurt world PvP and flying mounts killed it. the arenas didn't hurt world PvP they hurt the BGs.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
Much as there were instances of fun in world PvP it had no purpose and was mostly grief or PvE driven. that alone killed world PvP.
BG's were fun when they came out but 4 bgs in total + arena for pvp? umm that really bites. Flying away does stop griefing to some extent.
World PvE was dead when it had no purpose, no goal, and every one emtyed to arenas/bgs. Halaa was a joke.
People trying to waylay/grief PvErs sometimes undergeared/underlevelled =/= good world PvP
Face it wow is a PvE game with PvP as a remote afterthought.
WoW PvP = fail
Flying mounts work fine in WoW; having someone "drop in" on you on a PvP server is actually kind of cool, especially as your own side can return the favour. (If people don't return the favour for you then you're probably not on a good server, and yes there are good and bad servers, as in any MMO that isn't EVE).
I think a real key to never forget in WAR is the chaos chicken rule. Flying mounts in WAR would work well, provided of course that they are at a level that has content for them, and you can only get them after passing through the content designed to be completed without a flying mount. That strongly infers flying mounts for an expansion, and assuming horse-mounted combat isn't in at launch, then likely #1 mounted combat with new areas and races, #2 or #3 flying mounted combat with new areas and maybe new races. Warhammer has such a rich lore that they should not quickly run out of good options for expansions, particularly as they could add professions to each of the existing armies for an expansion too.
Besides, this is still the Warhammer world. Flying mounts to me mean ... ballistae, archers, and High Magic to keep them in the sky. The mount should have its own hit points too, so if you fly to the wrong place well ... got a parachute?
