Hey guys!
I'm looking for a game based on manual stat input, i.e. youget stat points per level up and can distribute them freely. I came from WoW and hate how gear dependant the game is. I've tried Perfect World but I hated the community, which is another important aspect for me. I don't want a game with a bunch of kiddies running round spamming "WTS IMBA SWORD +12 PST" or "OMG NOOB" etc, if you get me. So yeah, it's asking a lot, but any recommendations?
Thanks!

The last game I played based on stat growth was Ragnarok Online.....My first MMO.
Devs are kinda scared to make games with stat growth since you can easily screw up your character and have to roll an alt.
I am playing Guild Wars ATM and it has got some form of stat growth.....and is the best game ATM IMO.
I might sound repetitive in this corner of the forums right now, but a game not available to any right now seems to be what you're looking for: Ryzom.
Closed down atm, but it seems to reopen soon. Best community I encountered in the last decade of playing and total freedom of "stat" or "action" "distribution", it used to have no questing after the starterzone, though (a must say, in case anyone needs just that *g*). You're welcome to browse its forum(s) and still existant fan/guildsites to get to know more.

That's exactly how Anarchy Online works, you get points per level that you distribute yourself and how you design your skillset is essential to how effective your character is.
Plus it's got a pretty good community to boot.
