Just bought and installed. 2.4 gig athalon, 2 gig ram, nvid 7600 card. For the 1st 8 hrs or so, a few random crashes, but over all looked and ran good. Then tried crafting, made it thru the tutorial, with many crashes to desktop, all causaed by r clicking the crafting station. now anytime i try to use crafting station game stops my character from doing anything including leaving the crafting room, then crashes to desktop. Tried petion, it locked up as well. so for me game is unplayable, and petion system is unusable as well. this mach is flawlessy playing eq, eq2, wow, potbs and swg, as well as many other free mmorpg's

Might want to hit the Vg forums for tech help. Lots of knowledgeable folks on there that like to help.
One of the first things they always suggest is latest drivers so might want to check that. Other suggestion I see alot is to try disabling your sound. Not sure if that is germane in your case but it's easy enought to try. Only other one I recall is deleting bin files and letting launcher reinstall them. Again not positive if that is relevent but also easy to try.
I feel for you, nothing more annoying than a game crashing, but maybe it actually is your system? You say you have flawlessly played those games, but apart from 'potbs' which I don't know what it is, they're all relatively low performance games.
I don't know though. Try playing after GU6 maybe?

Hello!
You might try updating your video drivers.... I'm not sure about the 7600 vid card that might be the issue.
I played on my wifes computer yesterday with a winxp 2g ram athalon 7900gt and didn't have any issues for around 2-3 hours of play. Normally I play on an vista 64 system, intel, 4g ram, 8800gtx and I have played for 5+ hours with no crashes or problems.
You might also try turning off sound in the game and playing to see if that makes a difference. If that works you might need to update your sound drivers.

My issue is. I cant seem to run the game in full screen mode on any resolution. I can play windowed (o
Any ideas?
I have some tech issues as well. I have contacted SOE about them, we will see if they are any help lol.
I am running
nvidia 8800gt 512 ( With the drivers recommended by Vanguard Tech support)
Pentium duel core 3.2ghz
4gbram
Vista 32
Direct X9
I am able to play windowed (but of course it makes the game slower) But as soon as I alt tab the screen goes black. I have set Fullscreeen as default, with the same results.

1) Set in-game VG resolution the same as you have in your desktop. Most of the CTD's are caused by the weird game resolution set in game.
2) Try switch to classic appearance instead of aero. (right click-> personalise -> windows color&appearance -> Color Scheme: Windows Classic.
REALITY CHECK
Thank you. Still no fullscreen, but your suggestions did speed the game up while windowed.

I think there is a new crafting crash bug.. I read something about a mini-patch early this week. The petition system usually works very well, but this weekend it was heavily loaded down with all the new players. Open the petition window and grab a beverage... it'll come up after a couple minutes.
I think another contributing factor this weekend where that some chunks were absolutely jammed full of people and that latency can bork a number of things. Khal for example must have had 100-150 people in it on Sunday... that can make crafting, broker, banking all quirky.
Unfortunetely the 7600 is a very shitty gfx card, it was the budget card for the 7000 series and it failed miserably i think that it will the issue.
my 7600gs has run perfectly for a couple years, I dunno what you are talking about...it outperforms the 8600gt....just no dx10
edit: When I played Vanguard I could play on med/high settings at about 30fps. The only issues I had were the same ones everyone else has with the buggy coding.
Since my restart I haven't had one crash. I can run the game on the highest settings with only a little hitch when transitioning around the World. At the 2nd highest settings I have no hitches. Crafting works great for me, and the only bug i've come across is one quest that I can't finish.
Just letting you know it's not this way for everyone. Actually most people can run the game great now. I even had it up and running all day, over night, and all day the next day with no crash or memory errors.
Try the VG technical forums and they will help you figure out what is wrong.
