Ideal temperature for GPU?

So my graphic card (Ati Radeon 3850 HD) is somewhere between 45c ~ 55C when idle and raches around 80C ~  90C when playing a game.

Is this a healthy temperature or should i look for better cooling?

Just don't go over the max temp for your card.  GPUs are designed to take more heat than even procs, so don't equate proc temps with GPU temps. It is on the high side, though.

A good rule of thumb is to keep it no hotter than 30F hotter than your idle temps.  That gives you some time to kill the power if you get an alarm and not destroy the card. Ideally temps shouldn't go higher than 20F on load (and that would require an aftermarket heatsink/cooler/thermal paste solution, as those cute blowers never move as much air as the dedicated hardcore heatsink solutions). If you overclock, there is no other way but to void that warranty and get serious with cooling. And with that card, it's almost a necessity (it runs hot).

You can get it down to 30+c idle/50+c load if you shop around for a heatpipe solution. Cooler it's water or Pelts.
