Did you do the tutorial and the tutorial mission line? I know it's not the most fantastic work, but it'll get you enough isk to get by for a while.
You could try mining. It's a little slow if all you have is the 'noobship' and one mining laser, but it'll get you some ore which you can sell (better to sell then to refine, until you get skills and standings up).
Or, you could try 'ratting' or hunting NPC pirates in high-sec. It's low-paying, but almost zero-risk job above 0.5 security rating (no rats appear in systems above 0.8). Just fly to an asteroid belt and look for red crosses.

Unfortunately, your best choices for making cash at low levels is mining, ratting asteroid belts or mission running. Heck, even at higher levels many folks continue to do them to make cash.

Trading is a great way to build a nest egg of cash and learn how the market works. Do enough missions to buy you a basic industrial ship. Fit some cheap cargo expanders on it. Look at trade goods and consumer goods on the market for your region. You will see some goods in your region that you can make a profit margin on hauling from low sell order stations to high buy order stations. Make sure you stay in space with security of .5 or better.
When I first started, I bought me a Bestower (Amarr low tier industrial ship). In one Saturday, I went from 300k isk on hand to 20 mil isk on hand just hauling trade goods.
Eve rocks! If you don't like it your a a 12 year old, or have the mental age of one, with the attention span of a goldfish! We are so glad your not screwing up the greatest MMORPG to date! Or of course you just might not like this kind of game ;D ...weirdos!
Maybe i should try that buying/selling stuff. Could be worth it and take a small break from going postal mining the ore im at, sure.. It gives me like several millions in a full 11k m3 >>; but still.
