Because I would not go to all of that trouble unless I am getting paid to do so, even if I did it would be shouted down by the shills that are controling this forum right now. I think the Mods need to take a hard look at what's going on here while the site still has some credibility left.
yes... controlling the forum. every pro-AoC thread is deleted instantly, the poster is hunted down and burned alive and their children have their eyes gouged out.
Other people actually do something and you insult them, but bring no evidence to disprove what they have said. then when prompted for evidence, you simply state you are too lazy to get it. I guess leveling up to 5 in a game that is apparently great is too much work for something to do unless they are getting paid?
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
logical counter view point? I guess no one noticed it between your smarmy personal attacks and baseless accusations of being people being paid to bash AoC.
Bring something useful to the table instead of insults aimed at both posters and MMORPG.com itself and maybe people won't think you're an ass. I have yet to see you bring up anything logical or with a base in reality. You just insult people and claim that the only reason others don't agree with you is because they are being paid not to.
Look around you guy..how many useful constructive AoC threads do you see? Avery has typed his fingers off trying to logically discuss the merits and issues with AoC, and he has been met with a well organized stream of anti marketing...folks don't do that unless they have some incentive, this forum has been reduced to nothing more than a lets bash AoC platform. You can not say with a straight face that it hasn’t. Developers are looking at how MMORPG.com handles this, if they continue to allow this kind of Biased Bullshit it will hurt their credibility.
You can take SWG for example. At peak they had 450k subs and 24 servers limited to 3k players online.
that should be the numbers also for AOC based on the number of units sold. a 45-55% retention rate is the norm for mmmorpg's of this kind over the first 3 to 6 months, unless they are really really bad.
how is NOT removing threads in a forum biased? maybe the real reason the AoC forum is full of complaints is because... there is a lot to complain about!
this thread is useful. We aren't given numbers by funcom, so someone went out and got them and posted them for people. how is that not useful? YOU come and insult the person for doing it, claim they are being paid. aren't you acting like exactly what you are complaining about?
there is no organized anti-AoC group on these forums, there is no reason behind all the hate besides the game deserving it. people don't need to be paid to complain that they got ripped off, that they spent 50$ and didn't get what was on the box.
Until you bring something logical to the table besides claims that all the people who don't like AoC are just being paid to say that, then you will be a part of what you apparently dislike.

the 12% does not apply to europe. that average was made for the US where there is substancial time difference between areas (east and west coast for example). In europe the difference in time zones is rather small (average 1 hour) and as a result, it is more like 20 to 30% on prime time.
But, as he was talking about all Europe that spreads 4 times zones the same as mainland US, the 12% figure may apply.
...folks don't do that unless they have some incentive, this forum has been reduced to nothing more than a lets bash AoC platform. You can not say with a straight face that it hasn’t.
Indeed it has, but there is of course a great incentive.
Not money. (Its a silly accusation which makes you look foolish btw) It is justified hatred.
Perhaps you hadn't considered that many people feel genuinely aggrieved at being misled by Funcom and want to ensure that AoC fails by making sure potential buyers know how poor the product is?
I can see people going to great lengths to get revenge on Funcom.. and in the process doing their fellow gamers a favour.
Makes far more sense than your conspiracy theories.

isn't Europe all Europe , is there an Europe that is smaller than Europe? oh my mind...
while we have 4 time zones, the difference never exceeds 4 hours, and probably most of the euro players is either on GMT or Euro hours (1 hour difference) what i would say means about 70% share the same prime time.

now THERE is an idea, we start a AoC hater contingent! and then we can all make like 50 accounts each and pretend we have TONS of people hatin...oh wait....... that would be.....yea n/m.
Actually i see a LOT of AoC bashing trough ALL forums, including the official ones (where censorship by the moderators is rampant, the thread about this data has been closed on sight this morning as soon as an overzaelous moderator logged in, and labeled as "flamebait" while it was one of the most civil discussions i've seen in days, both from the ones that defended the game and from the ones that criticized it). Todeswulf, If he wasn't a paranoid and rabid fanboy, before going in to spill absolutely laughable theories like organized and paid mud slinging campaigns, would probably just understand that Funcom played the hype machine too much, and failed to live up to such hype for several reasons.
Massive hate and widespread angry posts are exactly what happens when a product plays the hype too far beyond what it can deliver, and that's exactly what it happened with happened with AoC. It's pretty understable that so many are disappointed.
I spent this much time gathering this data exactly because, unless Funcom fails me further, I plan on sticking with the game a while longer, in hope of better times, and as such I want to make sure that people know the situation we have on underpopulated servers, raising the demand for action on Funcom's part, so that we're not left to rot in ghost town.

Actually american servers have a more costant population around the clock because they're normally considered the truly "international" ones. Even many europeans chose to play there, not to mention all players that hail from countries out of the US and europe. So the population really spreads a lot trough the timezones. Normally, on the contrary, only euros play on euro servers.
Well I think I once heard EU was about equal to US. 32K + 32K = 64K roughly. The general rule of thumb is that 20% of total pop is a good number for simultaneous players. So say 400K total worldwide to be generous. Seems about in the right area considering our own census was showing about a 30% drop over the last few weeks and the fact they said 700K bought the game. Successful for most MMO's but defintantly not anything that matched hyped pre-launch predictions not to mention that means they've lost almost half of their players in a month and a half.
geesh, who cares?! is this what you lose sleep over?
I don't loose sleep over it, but having to play on a server that struggles to get to 600 people online during primetime, definately hinders my enjoyment in the game. I signed up for a MMORPG, not for a Not so massive MORPG.
Todeswulf is either a paranoid deeply motivated by AoC or one of the spin master associated with politics.
While not looking at any data, he attacks the position by attacking the person giving out the data. In theory if the source is corrupt then the data is corrupt. He treats any attack on AoC like it's an attack on him.
This poll doesn't say AoC is going to end, it's just in trouble of not expanding. Games of a smaller size like this, can survive as a nitch game. No one would have ever thought you could hold 1 million plus subscribers to a MMORPG before WoW. Profits can be made if you hold to the 500K level. This poll just wants to alert Funcom that they may need to shore up some things by changing the direction of it advertizing campaign. The OP is actually trying to help.
As for concerted effort to destroy AoC, it's similar to the Ford Edsel. You get a product that doesn't reach its targeted market and all sorts of negative response happens. The Edsel was for its time a reliable car. Unfortunately its design missed the market and people responded by branding it junk. Lots of people. There is plenty of examples of it in car history. These forums are the new word of mouth. What you are seeing is a natural reaction to a product that didn't live up to its promises.
Its a nice experiment and I can appreciate that someone is taking the time to do this, but this whole experiment needs to be repeated in August to have any real credibility on retention rate after release for AoC. I think you will find the numbers will fall dramatically.
The main reason for my statement is that Funcom promised release of a large patch as most initial purchaser's subscriptions were ending and as such many people paid for their first month after the free one hoping this 'miracle' patch would appear - it did not, the patch that appeared in its place was frankly c**p as have been all the succesive ones. A second reason is that many players will have hit the level where content thins out within the second month.
I know of many AoC players that paid for this extra month and quit before I did - they left within a week or two of the patch appearing (I left the game last Friday) - the game is broken, runs out of content too soon and becomes a bland experience to play.
There is also no sight of a true fix for this game coming any time soon - there is no way on this planet that Funcom will be able to produce masses of content in such a short time if they couldn't produce it during 5 years of development.
Lol, wanna laugh? Just look at how the official AoC forums are moderated: http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=64561 Truly hilarious, and the funny thing is that someone complains about the moderators here...
Wow.. thats just totally uncalled for. The guy gives a complaint and reasons why it is a bad thing.. itsa all civil, he asked responses to be civil and even goes as far as to suggest how the situation could be rectified.
...and the thread is locked for flamebaiting..
unbelievable.
Well actually its not if you consider Funcom and it moderators to be desperate to quell any bad press on their forums.

Todeswulf kills me. If anyone here is a paid corporate lackey it's him.
He:
Defends the corporation at all times, without logic.
Attacks anyone who suggests the corporation is anything less than perfect
He accuses others of being what he is to throw off the scent.
He is unwilling to:
Provide a defensible reason for his position because to do so would be counterproducitve
your right MMORPG should clean this forum up, if they removed your personal attacks and left the good discussions from others, it would be fine.

I have 3 weeks of data from my server. Number of people logged on during prime time has gone down by 15-20% over this period.
