AoC players a litlle on edge? /moved

I recently posted something that wasnt even negitive  in the AoC forums and I did not use 's in my post it is now a 60 post thread about grammar look what someone put about it...

WARNING YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ ALL OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm always thrilled when someone says what you just did. Everyone, at some point or another, makes a mistake; whether in writing or elsewhere in daily life or thought. It's inevitable. How one reacts to making a mistake, though, can determine one's mental value. As you noted, you react to a mistake by learning from it. That's wonderful, and I wish more people would do so.

Unfortunately, there are many who will just say, 'But who cares?! It's just a spelling error!' That's such a careless way to go through life. Yes, it's 'just' a spelling error. Yet that same kind of irresponsible thinking can worm its way into more important aspects of living. 'Oh, who cares if I come in to work fifteen minutes late?' 'So what if I missed our anniversary date?' Where does one draw the line in what to care about?

Sure, it's quite possible that one may say, 'Well, I don't care about spelling at all---but I do care about when I come in to work or celebrating my wedding anniversary'. That is well and good; however, someone who consistently shows responsibility in even the smallest things---such as in something as minute as spelling---can be enticing and interesting to others simply because observers do indeed notice when someone is writing smoothly or speaking effectively. Such observers tend to connect responsibility in something small to carefulness in other, more important things. I am sure that nearly everyone would agree that they prefer responsible and reliable types to careless and ignorant ones.

In other words, it really does pay off in the long run to care about 'little things' and learn how to improve in the future. Doing so can make one noticed, liked, respected and admired. Improvement is always worthwhile.

just ignore what a lot of people say in the AoC forums. You got those who are pissed off at the world because they have been following and worshipping the game for the last four years only to find out its not as cracked up as it should  be considering the amount of hype it gets.

Then you have the trolls who never played the game who say negative things just to see the responses the fanbois generate.

Then you have the fanbois who are funcom's volunteer PR people saying how awesome the game is; when they hope they can convince even themselves that AoC is great.

Unfortunately, you also get grammar geeks. These people are the types who cannot say anything constructive due to their limited intelligence. Because they cannot retort your post in a constructive manner they attack your grammar. It's really a sign of desperation on their part and my mom always told me to pray for those types of people because in real life they will have a hard time getting by. So, I just pray for them.

    Those poor people.

    I would just ignore em.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Eh I guess no one likes having their game bashed, they've been getting that alot I imagine.

    Let em vent. ;p

You would be on edge too if your game was going down the crapper!

Dude, don't worry about the official AoC forums. They are swarming with fanbois who will go out of their way to make you feel bad for posting anything negative about AoC.

I just laugh at them. A whole group of people ready to pay $15 to a company who can barely do an Action Script "GoTo" command.

See, i can understand being gramatically correct when your writing a college doc, term paper, work related memo, etc.

But not using capitals, apostrophes and the occasional misspelling (teh, thier) on a forum and being called out on it is retarded. Most forum posts are done quickly so mistakes happen, letters get slightly jumbled and minor punctuation is forgotten. So long as you end a sentence with a period, use comma to break it up, all is good in my eyes.

Also paragraphs are a must (just makes it easier on the reader and prevents wall of text damage :P )

As others have said, F-them and ignore them.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Odd I'm a AoC player and i don't feel on edge. Hell there's always gonna be someone that doesn't like a given MMO. I remember all the Hoohah posted about EQ2, and LoTRO going down the crapper when they were first released and they're still around. Guess some people just need to vent. AoC will be around for years to come just look at AO, and Vanguard which both had much worse starts.

I'm pretty sure when WAR is released there will be at least a few people posting its going down the crapper, unfortunately its just the way of things. So many people have soo many tastes, opinions etc. theres always gonna be at least a few that hate any given game.

And afcourse you have THE GAMERS the ones who look at games in this genre in a more  realistic way. They don't fall for hype due to experiane and they will always when they hit a issue be constructive about it, but will in most cases take the issue to the proper channels (official game forum/email support/devs) And will "TRY" to share fun experiance or be helpfull towards the gaming community. (doesn't always work out that way tho)

I too would be angry at the world if so many people were quitting my game. I was going to give it a try, but all except one of my friends has left already!

It's not only the fans of AoC, but the trolls too call out on spelling errors. Seems when there is no valid arguement one way or the other, there is always bash for the typos.

PS. To OP...spelling error in title "AoC Players a LITTLE on edge?"

    Sorry couldn't resist....

There is a wee little difference between a public forum and a TV studio. Spelling mistakes are tolerated on forums. There a little bit less restrictive.

unless some person decides they are bored and decides to flame you for your spelling mistakes then you have to go out of your way and verbally pwn them

I agree that taking time to add a simple apostrophe shows tact and real life character. It's the little things that add up. And I don't play AOC, I've heard somwehere that it wasn't a very good game  :P

"Unfortunately, you also get grammar geeks. These people are the types who cannot say anything constructive due to their limited intelligence."

So using a ton of Z's and typing like a moron add up to limited intelligence?

Why people would be content with looking like an idiot I will never understand.

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Just as these forums are full of haters who do the same to those who play. Both sides of the issue have their fair share of worthless banter and ad hominem rhetoric. People take the issue of gaming way to seriously, degrading each and every discussion into a playground slugfest  .  What can you do about it other than ignore it ? Not much,  It's a sad but true aspect of human nature.

people who point out that they are spelling things wrong to "lash back" at a poster is just as bad. It's a sign of intellectual desperation when debating a topic.

    /facepalm

this guy cares way too much about the little things b/c he obviously can't tell the huge logical fallacy that he made

Protip: If someone does NOT list at least one positive and one negative about the game they are critiquing, its best to ignore the post.

I think it depends on the situation.

I try to be as grammatically correct as possible on the forums. I think it allows everyone to read my posts quickly and efficiently, as opposed to struggling with thoughts like "What the hell does that mean?"

For example, when someone writes something like this:

I duno who u tink u r. Aoc is a god gaem, and I liek it so u can stfu. It may not be prefekt, but itz still goin 2 be a grate game sumday.

I think it's ok to call a person out for posting like that.

On the other hand, there's the flamers/trolls who go absolutely apeshit over something like this.

Well, I don't think AoC is a bad game, but it certainly hasnt lived up to it's potential.

The folks who are flipping out, and screaming "OMFG, I THINK YOU MUST BE RETARDED, IT'S HASN'T YOU NOOB!" are the ones who aggravate me.

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...
