Intel GMA X3100 & NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (UMA)

Ok so im looking to buy a new laptop (for school but also for gaming) and little strapped for cash to buy something high end so was wondering if anybody knew if a laptop with either one of those integreted video chipsets would play AoC on a decent lvl.

So im looking at :

Dual Core around 2GHz

Ram around 2gb TO 4gb

I dont care if the graphics are not super cool looking as long as the FPS is still ok with either of these chipsets, but i dont want it to look ugly as well...

Anybody know?

I wouldn't hold my breath on either of them...  Neither are meant for the heavy abuse of a 3d game, they are business oriented video cards.

iv done a hardware check for AoC using this website:

    http://www.srtest.com/referrer/srtest

I did this test using a laptop that use a lesser video chipset ( Intel GM965 ) and the result was weird as under the main video card heading this laptop had a FAIL but when it broke down each individual video requirement everything PASSED... except for the Direct X which was still version 7 lol cuz that hasnt been updated yet.

Maybe i should download version 9 and retry it as that could be why it got a "fail" result. In any case the laptop i would buy would have a quicker procesor, more ram and better video chipset so /shrug

definitely no for the intel one and very likely also a no for the nvidia one.

i looked up benchmarks for the intel X3100 and it only gets around 500 points in 3dmark 2006. while cards that can run aoc just on lowest settings (radeon 2400) get over 2500 in 3dmark 2006.

did not find any reliable benchmarks for the nvidia onboard gfx, but from what i have seen its also very low performance so i also would not recommend it for aoc.

i personally don't think any of the integrated chipset solutions has the power for real gaming, so you will have to look for a product with a dedicated gfx chip.

The only other laptop i found that could be a possibility and doesnt have an integreted chip set uses NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS. Would this work?

Also i found a desktop that uses an ATI Radeon HD 3200 if i have to buy a desktop instead of laptop

Honestly man you cannot expect to run a one of the most hardware-demanding games on stuff that is meant to be use for word editing and mp3 listening. It will simply not work, and even if you will be lucky enough to start the game (only 8400 has a chance for that) you will get like 3-4 fps and crash every 5 minutes.

My nVidia 7150m can run all Guild Wars content just fine, but Age of Conan is a chop-fest at best.
