AoC English forums being run like a police state

I've noticed alot of threads just dissapearing from the forums, so I wrote a small thread asking why? No agression, swearing ect, just a mature honest question.
And what did I get as a reply?
An answer, any explanation anything?
Well yes I got something--A WARNING.
Now what kind of way to run anything is that, I love the game but these idiots moderating the forums are making me think of taking my money elsewhere.

If i were to guess, it would be that you are causing trouble or are trying to defame an excellent finished game that was delivered as promised.

Its simple. There PR have done such a good job of blinding people to the truth they cant have someone smart show up and try to point out something obvious. If that happened the cloud over so many peoples eyes may start to lift and see the truth about FC and the way they run things.
The people doing the mod'ing arent idiots they are verry smart. Delete any posts that say anything bad. Ban anyone saying something bad. Give a warning to to someone starting to smarten up. Its no diffrent than the PR at FC. Spin things the way it best fits them, not the truth.

Maybe if you follow the rule to their forum which you sign when you register it wouldn't be like that.

If you like the game, then Funcom likes you. You are free to spam the forum with all your love.
If you don't like it or if you have questions about content, then Funcom see you as a Troll and will use all power to lock your threads and sometimes make you Banned for months.
Why Funcom act like this? Well it's a normal game company reaction that goes something like this.. "OMFG WE FAILD! HIDE IT ALL! FAST! FAST! DON'T LET THE WORLD SEE HOW BAD IT IS!"
Is it good for the game in the long run? No.

Hint: They own the forums. They can moderate them any way they want. The entire thing is a part of the product they own. The only legal rights here belong to the company.

It all depends on whats it about.
If its regular negativity about the average bugs that are in the game the topic stays and lives on.
If a topic arrises questioning and complaining about promised features not delivered and / or when it can be expected, then the topic moves into mysterious ways of deletion or the clever moderators wait for the fanbois to storm in and use their foul language so they have a reason to lock it. Very clever!
Or a topic arrises questioning when they gonna fix the darn issues that existed since launch and are still not fixed! See previous allinea about the mysterous ways matter that follows.
So as long as its regular whining it's fine with them, but when you open up topic that are sensitive and undermining their false PR and Hyping and thus bad for Funcom's image. You can be sure to expect a nice ban! Even if you know you are right and posted within the forums rules and conduit
All I can say is I am glad I left that game from a horrible incompetent company, that now desperatly tries to cover up their big flop called Age of Conan!

I can't say that I'm with you on this one. I've seen tons of threads complaining about features and problems not being fixed yet. I know mmorpg.com tends to be a big bitch-zone where everyone comes to slam every game but their current favorite, but I can't really say AoC is a flop. Far from it IMO. It's fun, it's more intereactive than most, and it's doing just fine.
I know people complain that it wasn't released with several years already under it's belt as a heavily play-tested, totally bug free MMO, but this hasn't been my first trip to the rodeo. I've have been a part of other launches and can tell you that even the smoothest has issues. Anyone who tells you different is selling something....

Funcom has lost all track and heading with Age of Conan. They are extremely unpredictable and turn their patching (read PR) wind in the direction where most whining goes!
-somewhere in early May: Massive complaints about gaps in content and the grind that kicks in.
Answer from Funcom: Press release that it will be adressed with highest priority and more content will be added (soon(tm) promiss as we never heard anything about since)
-somewhere further in May: People massively complaining about useless Player cities, just hacing cosmetic value and promissed features completely missing!
Answer from Funcom: Newsletter stating this will be adressed somewhere later this year (another soon(tm))

Answer from Funcom: Dev stating that more armor sets/models are in the works and first sets will be added within next week (half may that is). Turned into another soon(tm) debacle, as the only thing they eventually added somewhere end may / early june is a couple dresses for the casters!
- Then we got the Siege PVP, total lack and broken itemisation, broken skills, broken stats, broken feats and Funcom nerfing into the extreme the wrong classes. nerfed > whine > buffed > whine > nerfed again > whine > buffed again > whine > nerfed again > whine ....etc, etc.
So what has been fixed the last month? I seriously don't know. Oh yeah, after 4 weeks of technically fine gametime a patch on the 12th of June killed the game for me and made me crash and freeze constantly ever since. (and NO it's not my computer (getting old stupid trolling) as a hell lot of people got into trouble since that patch!)
Yup. Funcom is a very competent company. At least they know something about marketing, overhyping and cover lies and flaws. Problem is. It only last so long till the covercloud dissolves in front of more and more players

Funcom's policy has always been to ban people to cover up what they don't want you to know. This is and always will be their MO.
Funcom is guilty of the following.
Bans for players from their games to fix pvp balance so people will buy an expansion.

Actualy this topic needs to be either deleted or atleast locked, cause like we already have said in this case OP was the person who did wrong. If this was a legit complaint we could discus it, but you see it aint a legit complaints cause OP simply did not follow the rules, and afcourse we do not have to like the rules but they are there to be followed regardless how we feel about them.
If these rules where not set up then OP had every right to complain, but you see those rules where there.
It's really a shame this topic derailled into things that never happend.

I hardly post on the AoC forums anymore. Twice I got my posts deleted with a personal warning message.
One thing that no one ever mentioned is that the fact that the AoC beta is still under NDA even today! I will never ever be able to talk to someone about what happened during that time. It's crazy! Why would any decent company do that? It's yesterday news about a game released and no longer hyped.
The more I learn about Funcom, the more I hate them. Steak my ass.
