I saved $ on AoC...did you?

Haven't visited the site in awhile, not since right before AoC launched.  Last i remembered was a lot of AoC fanbois boasting about the game and giving arguments like:

"It's only beta!  the lag and glitches and bugs are obv not gonna be in release its a diff client!"

"its only beta!  all this talk about the game not being finished and having no content in the upper levels is just doomsayers"

"funcom isnt doin anything sneaky by capping the public beta, its just marketing lol1!lol"

so since i have common sense, i avoided AoC like the plague and saved myself some $$$ because it was obvious this game was just unoriginal and was nothing but hype from day one.

  basically from what ive read and heard from friends who always buy the newest mmo was that the $50 or whatever would have been better spent if i hired a midget to punch me in the balls all day

oh and with some irony, those same fanbois back then would bash WAR and Darkfall at every chance...of course darkfall verdict is still out but there is definite signs of life (but to be honest any sane person can read the info out there and know its a real game and is comming out, how good it will be is another story).  And WAR would have to fail miserably to be worse than AoC.  And now i am remembering why i stopped checking out this forum...

Yeah I was excited about AoC at first but then I started to hear more and more things that I didnt like.... and friends in beta didnt like it......... Glad it wasn't a game to join my MMORPG graveyard.       Now lets hope WAR isn't going to dissapoint me cuz I really want to start a new game when everyone else is and not be like years behind most people. lol

How can you post such an extensive thread about something you have no first hand experience about?

How can you hate a game you haven't tried?

How do you know that hiring a midget to punch you in the balls all day only cost 50$?

I just knew two months before that AoC was junk. People read web sites and features and believe them. I just hope most of them are 10 years old, because if they there house there gonna get robed.  I told the fanbois a million times in every way a could and nothing.

Now will have to put up with there garbage on the Warhammer forum

Ya but he'd be even more of a sheep than if he listened to the fanboys and tried it.. He took sound advice by saving his money.. Give the game 9-12 months it might be alright but doubtful if this is what they came up with after  5 years..

well honestly for me I had the game pre-ordered the canceled because i wasn't sure if i wanted it.. bought the game about 2 weeks ago and i can safely say I haven't had this much fun playing an MMO since my first MMO( runescape haha) about 6 years ago. You really should just base your decisions on what you think. Forget the nay sayers and the fanbois just do you(umma do me) lol

 I can honestly say i saved money too. I got AoC and have been having a blast. Granted I'm a casual player, not one racing to level 80.

 

  AoC cost me $39.99, and of course the $15.00 monthly after first month. This is for say maybe 20 hours of fun a week. (Like i said fairly casual) In comparison a movie for me and my girlfriend is well over $20.00's for just 2 hours. Saw Hancock this week i would have much rather been playing AoC. I enjoy the graphics, and the combat. but thats my opinion.

  You on the other hand funnily enough came to a board you state you don't frequent to bash a game you haven't played. Funny you should mention sheep as you formed your own opinion off of nothing more then random hate threads/posts from strangers. Yup no herd mentallity there. I might have given your post some credit if you maybe had at least tried the game via the free buddy pass, or beta, or something, but as it is just seems like another sheep posting about something he's never tried.

Hah, this is the lamest thing I have read in a while. Bash a game based off of your "friends" opinions, if you had balls to punch you would not be posting something as idiotic as this without thinking first. I'm glad your not playing, one less 12 year old in-game.

 Typical. Whatever you do don't try the game! Yes it doesn't matter you could try it easily for free with a buddy pass, Don't Do it! Because well then he might form his own opinion instead of just agreeing your opinion is right without any actual first hand knowledge or experience.

Well I bought the game and I subscribed, and I knew it had issues, although I didn't have beta access, I've followed AoC forum since over a year ago.

Since release I've enjoyed the game, and I'm STILL enjoying the game.

how does that make me a sheep..?...

I don't care wether it's Blizzard or Funcom or Adventurine or SOE or a.s.o.

If I'm enjoying the game, then I'm enjoying the game, and if you're not, then perhaps move along?

If people are so dissappointed in this game, then go play a game that is so much better?

I can see there are issues, and lots of things to be fixed, but the client is very playable still with an ok rig.

Only thing I might dislike with AoC might be it's forum moderating, they tend to be a bit triggerhappy without providing info. But I don't have to be active in the forum to play the game.

 

Did I save $ on AoC... well yea I did, if you compare it to paying for an MMO where I wouldn't have as much fun.

Well if you post troll posts, shows your credibility then doesn't it...

I very rarely crash, I might have disconnects, and alot of them are on my side.

But I can count on 1 hand the amounts of times I've crashed in the game since release.

As for lack of content, I've passed lvl 50 and still don't find any  reason to grind. I'm not rushing it like some people are, and taking my time to do other things in life than play MMO's and trollpost in forums...

As for loading screens, get a decent rig.

my loading screen times are almost the same as in WOW, - yes that game has instances too.

I use a farily ok rig, that I actually upgraded to use for high settings in WoW, turns out it worked well in EQ2 and WoW on medium settings as well.

With my 10k RPM hardisc, the loading screens are not a problem, so upgrade your gear.

I wish I could get the 50 bucks back I wasted on AoC.  The game might be decent in 6 months or so, but right now it can barely qualify as a beta.  It has some interesting ideas, but the bugs and the lack of content make it a waste of time in its current state.  And no I didn't rush to 80.  I got to 60 and quit.

"its only beta!  all this talk about the game not being finished and having no content in the upper levels is just doomsayers" For me OB wasn't a great experiance and i really disliked performance, but i had hte game at release (slightly before due to pre-order,) but installed it the normal day of release due to limited time and simply did not have the time to get into the 3 day headstart or 2 day whatever it was made. Anyway for me personaly my performance within the game was no where near to what it was in OB. I did have a few crashes here and there, but they stopped about 3 patches ago, untill i recently visited The Noble District and it seems things are not yet ironed out there as I do crash abit more then when in other places.

Ok so I’ve never posted to a forum before; please excuse any mistakes I make.  But like a long time listener first time caller I have an opinion.  As I read through this thread?  I found many good arguments against the original poster, thanks guys!  I am really enjoying AoC as are many others, does it have issues yes for sure but if any of you recall WoW promised us Hero classes and character balance shortly after launch how long did that take.  Now before I get all the WoW boys up in my face let me say I love that game and they have supported there community in a way no other MMORPG has.  But back to the topic I think an overlooked fact is this game cost $50 if you can’t afford to take a chance on a game don’t, save your money for college(cause if you think $50 is a kick in the balls from a midget, what till you have to buy books for your first semester).   In the end its $50 I spend that without thinking on many things that don’t give me nearly as much entertainment value, if the game cost $650 well then yah id bitch if it was unplayable.  The fact is this game is very very playable so even if you hate it you’re going to get 10-15 hours out of it before you come to that conclusion  $5 an hour worst case scenario for entertainment name a place I can get a deal that good.

 

P.S.  If we want devs to stop making games don’t try shit, don’t spend a dollar!  But don’t ever say someone didn’t tell you so!!

Heh! Thanks to Funcom's screw-up with the Amazon Collector's pre-orders, I never did buy a box. The delay gave me time to see that the released game was just like beta and that the miracle patch the fans were proclaiming did not exist. The game we played in beta was the same as what was release. Funcom lied, pure and simple.

This inspired me to add to the 90 bucks I saved and buy a Lifetime subscription to Lord of the Rings Online. It's not perfect, but at least Turbine didn't lie to sell game boxes and the game was complete when launched.

Cheaters never prosper, Funcom, and Turbine got my money instead of you. Removing your game from my hard drive was cathartic.
