who in his right mind would join a angry troll demanding his precious pre-cu VIRTUAL world? its funny to see that everyone who doesnt mark the game as epic fail is being flagged as a fanboi instantly, pretty active hater community here yea the game really seems epic fail when i go to a mate where aoc is being played and where most servers are full, u think im making this up go check it out yourself well all the haters post all surveys/patchnotes/news from aoc so i guess they can start aoc up themselves
i have 250k friends who hate what $OE did to swg
i have many more friends upset over funCON conning them out of $50 for a game that isn't done outside looking at boobs
and i have yet more friends demanding more sandbox mmo titles rather then the lame level based stuff.

However the hatebois seem to be producing more crap posts because most of the fanbois are actually playing the game.

The only official subs released were the ones that were for first month participants. Not resubs anyways. I am sure they will fall, and fall hard. None the less it was a bad game and won't be missed.
There is no denying it anymore. AoC is an EPIC fail. While Funcom has raked in a lot of dollar on early sales due to their [useless] mount preorder program and extreme hype and blanket lies, there is no way they can retain people. These and the official forums are filled with people stating the game is getting empty, people leaving in droves, guilds quitting, friends lists are empty. The only question is if they will do server merges soon or just let the servers remain empty for a long time. There is no way people return after such a bad experience, sure some people will take a second look, but too many have been burned. I hope this will teach the mmo industry (incl. makers of WAR, Aion, TCoS, Champions Online, the new bioware mmo etc.) that there is no more free lunches. You can't just release hyped garbage and let people pay for beta. Sure close to 1 million sales is good for getting ROI. But there is no real money coming down the road and I wonder how much longer they can continue with so many developers connected to the game. There is a financial drop off point (just like with Tabula Rasa) where they will figure they will have to run this game with a skeleton crew. Expect it this summer. They won't have enough retentions to keep expanding on the game, so expect small fixes in the future and nothing big that changes the buggy experiences. To repeat myself, just look at how TR is unable to make big additions to the game now. Still no vehicles or anything. My prediction is that we shall see no more clear numbers from Funcom about subscriptions. The only hint we will see is not in the next quarterly report where the large sales are still hiding the problems of retention, but the quarterly report after that. The end of the year quaterly should show the big financial problems clearly. Funcom as a company is defamed like SOE. Sure there are still rabid fanboys (and viral marketeers!) but the world is filled with people who got screwed. Some got screwed over bugs, unable to play or just unstable to play, others get screwed over deleted petitions, lack of communication from Funcom, and yet others about marketing lies. Like lies about DX10, or paying for buddy keys without getting them. And sieges is an exploitable bug fest. I think it is high time to send a message to the industry: Don't treat us like 15$ pr. month sheep any more. The whole "no mmo is ever released finished or perfect" is NOT a valid argument. Sure there were others that screwed their customers too, but people CAN expect a company to actually put things into the game they write on the frigging box. People CAN demand to have main content likes sieges playtested. Stop letting us players pay for beta. Stop abusing your power as multinational gaming companies. Stop lying to our faces. Ok you have your opinion, and it really is nothing more then your opinion. As you did not present any facts to back up your arguement , in fact you didn't even mention if you had even tried the game or are just going with the hater herd mentallity.
Strangly enough everything you've posted here has also been posted about every MMO every released. I certainly remember seeing the same epic fail posts here about LoTRO, EQ2, and hell even a rare one about WoW. So other then trying to show off some presumed Forum Psychic powers do you have any real point here? I'm gonna guess no.
Your arguement is very flawed on many levels. ie "there is no way people will return after such a bad experience" (A) its your opinion that it was a bad experience (at least any worse then any other MMO launch) Many people are still playing and enjoying the game, Yes some also leave thats true of any MMO. (B) Alot of people do return. Just check out the forums for almost any MMO here, Say EvE, or Vanguard etc etc etc. You will find posts of people returning so yes people do give MMO's a second try even if they didn't care for it the first time around.
nice lil war going on here trolls, flames... anyway noone can deny that aoc=fail. Even if funcom made cash with their con, it is still a fail for all the people that play on deserted servs, the guild leaders that swa 98% of their guild's pop run away screaming. AOC got more or less as much flame as swg got with their miracle patched. Swg is a good example of fail now, so is aoc.
We can either go on kiking aoc's dead corpse or move on to another game the troll army can flame.
Kiking a dead corpse is fun when that corpse stole 65$ from you though
I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.
beaverz ... you mentioned deserted servers, yet I can confirm opposite; atleast for Crom EU PVE server. Its far from empty. Deserted would mean only 1 instance and no players. Yet i see atleast 4 instances of an area (yesterday FOtD for example), in Tortage sometimes more.
So when you comment something atleast back up with arguments.
But i agree move on, of u dont like it. I will, always did.

No I think you = fail. Since my server was busy as ever yesterday and hardly anyone has left my guild, I really dunno wtf you're talking about. Sure some people don't like it; but you could say that for everything. If you trolls stopped exaggerating so much maybe your posts would get more respect.

I hate you ALL
...Ok, seriously, its not really intelligent to HATE a game. Just don't play it. In the capitalist world we live in...when enough people don't play it, FUNCOM will not make enough money and have to shut down.
There is no hate, no love. You either play it or not.
OFF THE PHILOSOPHY...here's what went wrong so far:
1. The release was too early.
2. Customer Service and customer service policy is understaffed and no well developed.
3. FunCom was not very professional in some of their press releases towards they other MMOs in the industry. This turned some people against FunCom before it even came out with AoC.
On the positive side:
FunCom still has an opportunity to pull off a decent game. (I haven't played it yet, but I plan on it in the future.)
1. Release patches on a regular, but not to frequent, basis keeps the subscribers happy. They feel they are receiving attention.
2. If they build their customer service system and policy, subscribers will also be more open to remaining with the game.
ONCE AGAIN, the market will be "teh win" or "epic phail" of Age of Conan. If people stop playing, the game ends. While the game runs (and subsequently, while the company makes money), it wins.

My prediction is that we shall see no more clear numbers from Funcom about subscriptions.
OK, my prediction is that mmorpgcharts.com will show AoC to have about 300k (+ or - 50k) subscribers this time next year. Not as huge a success as they might have wished, but a heatlhy game nevertheless. (An AoC rep said 100k would be failure.)
These AoC troills have a vastly over-inflated sense of their own importance. Most people who play the game don't read forums, so won't be influenced by these sorts of paranoid, over-the-top manifestations of geek rage.
Average players will leave AoC in droves when the game is crap or unplayable.
AoC is neither crap nor unplayable. For most casuals who play it it's playable, looks great, and is good fun.
It's unfinished, but that unfinishedness is only really apparent in aspects of the game that aren't terribly important to most casual players - and what's more, Funcom are gradually addressing the issues.
In the abstract, yes it would obviously have been nice to have had a "finished" game on realease, but clearly that wasn't possible (otherwise they would have done it). As it is, Funcom managed to finish it to a degree that's enough to make it playable and enjoyable for most who play it, although not enough to satisfy some hardcore gamers.
Had Funcom delayed any more, it's highly likely there would have been no game at all. Frankly, I would rather have had this game as it is, warts and all, than no game at all - which is likely what there would have been if Funcom hadn't rolled it out when they did, in its unfinished state.
I predict within the next 3-6 months we will see AoC slip into obscurity and drop from most charts - I dont care what you think about the game now - good or bad - the simple fact is the game has stuff-all content at the high end and even if fixed I cant see the crafting system being enough to keep someone playing either. The game has simply run out of steam for many players.
As I have said before, and will repeat now, if they could not release enough content after 5 years of development how are they going to make the game interesting for many of us several months down the line ? This game simply needs too much work and every time they stuff up a patch or make a bad change things just get worse.
I agree the game can be fun at first but it is so shallow and lacking in the things we all expected to see that no amount of polishing will make this sugar-coated turd shine - once you get through the first month or two of sugar all thats left is the creamy turd centre... yummy... blech.
I agree the game can be fun at first but it is so shallow and lacking in the things we all expected to see
And what exactly did you expect to see? The game feels like a fresh a breath air from the usual mmorpg's and the Wow clones out there. People are so brainwashed into what a game should be, so of course you will be dissapoined if its different
