Why does Tasos / Aventurine always invite unknown people?

Why does Tasos / Aventurine always invite unknown people to look at Darkfall in Greece?

They never invite any people from places like Gamespot or IGN or PC gamer etc. You know REAL industry people.  All anyone would have to do is connect to their client / world remotely. It's not like it's even a big hassle to do.

I could've sworn there was already a thread on this. Regardless, what's most worrying to me is that Asp's (one of the few who has visited their offices and has written about it) change from "I was very pessimistic about Darkfall and believed it to be vaporware." to “Tasos, can I sexually please you, or a live animal of your choice, right here, right now in order to begin beta testing Darkfall promptly?” in the span of a single conversation doesn't strike me as impartial, but I suppose it could happen if you forgo a bit of rationality. Had I been of the same stance as he allegedly was, and I'm not, I would've been far more inquisitive, perhaps to the point of being rude, in order to get more information about everything before I'd started singing praises to the devs for a few niceties here and there. Unfortunately whatever he said about the game (which is ultimately, all that is important) was based on a build that was already old a year ago.

Without discounting the few testimonials we've seen so far, I too express my interest in seeing a review done by a professional publication or an industry peer, basically someone with credentials who can't afford to collude in order to propagate inveracities. It's more than common in other games, of any kind, so it's a valid expectation. I don't see why it's unreasonable or why anyone would disagree with it.

No one would have to go to Greece.  Darkfall has been stable and feature complete for over a year, right?  Just let some folks from reputable gaming media sources download the client and play for a bit.  Not only would it cost nothing, the payback would be tremendous for Aventurine.

Because who are any of you people really? I can't say I know any of you personally. You sure as hell don't know me. Seriously who is going to trek all the way out to Greece at their own expense that anyone actually knows?

How about Gamepro, PCGamer, mmosite, mmorpg.com, hell friggin' Gamespot? Any of them would look at the game if asked, yet ( surprise ) Tasos relies on total "nobodies".

Why invite a huge game site when you can invite some nobody that no one heard before ??

    Thats the darkfall way.

dunno about you guys ....but it seems painfully obviouse that they choose "nobodies" simply because....there is...NOBODY lol...they probably made up some character and said blah blah, i hate the game vapor etc....and have him coming back with nothing but praise.

Seriously? They don't have the money to buy those guys time, or opinions in some cases. If they had the money I doubt the game is complete enough to show it to them. It's not a realistic expectation.

As for giving out the client who the hell does that pre release? No one. People load demos up on their boxes and take it wherever and play on closed servers or play from the office. That's how it's done.

After 7 years and six months before supposed release, I'd say it's a damn fine realistic expectation. And I highly doubt if they were to call up Jon or any of the others at mmorpg.com and say "Would you play our game and let people know it's real?" that mmorpg.com would turn them down.

That was exactly the “event” that compelled me to start posting regularly on this forum around this time last year.

I’m still a doubting Thomas even after Asp’s “preview”

I’d been waiting for the game since 2001, but after ending my involvement with the official community in 2005 I had no further compulsion or interest in interacting anymore until release.

But that Asp article was too much and it compelled me to comment and investigate further, now a year latter I think we are starting to find out the truth they have tried to hide for years with articles about "visits" like those for so long.

    Lool.

Lets just 'cut' to the chase, we all know they drugged them.
