Mount and Blade. Great Game

I would probably still be playing if it was released like this, considering there is so much to explore. Also the fact that much more content would already be implemented.
I tried it first time 6 months ago, and I couldn't play it on my system then. But I always felt there was a good game there. The art design is high fantasy but of a more "realistic" kind than any of the other high fantasy MMOs out at the moment, with a rather unique feel to some of the areas, and that kind of semi-realistic feel was really what I was looking for - and judging by the initial subscription rates, what a lot of other people were looking for too. But alas it was an unplayable, ugly hog for too many people.
Recently I upgraded to a standard modern Core2Duo/8800 setup, and the game is not only playable but actually looks really nice. Not as good as AoC, maybe not even as good looking as LOTRO in some respects, but around about the same standard of looks (though totally different in art design) as EQ2. (Very similar nice bumpmapping on armour close up, especially with Shader 3 enabled in the .ini file.)
There are still some fairly major problems (for me personally, mainly in terms of glitchy/laggy animations), but nothing game-breaking anymore, just a lingering amateurish feel overall
But now that the game is playable, the gameplay really comes through - and frankly, it's great!
And since we have a good year's worth of fulfilled promises from the devs, I think we can be fairly confident that the remaining problems will actually be sorted out within another year, maybe sooner. Then it will be the game it should have been on release - and I honestly think if it had been like this on release it would be a major MMO now.
good news i suppose..

I personally think it's nothing new...pretty graphics but basically the same old same old gameplay. Either quest-grind to level cap (and most quests don't seem all that interesting) or grind till you die. Sure, crafting is a bit more unique but still nothing fantastic and the diplomacy thing seems interesting but get's old after about five minutues. The new fame for the game seems a bit overated to me...
Also of note.....
The Vanguard has just recently hired a few more artists and a few more apprentice devs and an associate dev. The VG team is growing and that means more content and more fixes at a higher rate. If even more people(besides the recent flood of new players) decide to try this game then that would mean adding even more devs to the team.
From what i gather frmo what you say, the game is going nowhere but fowards into development and should come out clean as a pretty smooth mmo in a matter of months. Am i assuming incorrectly?
