Well when i started playing i was expecting a crap load of glitches, bugs, and broken missions but after 5 days im hooked, if you a star wars fan (which you kinda have to be) you'll love this game.
Now the game has some animation bugs and yes SOE is messing with the proffesions a bit, but they are just balancing things out and its working. No missions ARE NOT BROKEN! i have not run into one mission that was broken. graphics make me feel like im really on naboo and tatooine. gamplay, leveling system, fighting, everything feels like the real star wars world.
Just 1 posotive opinion, its all about personal prefference, all opinions expressed are mine and mine alone.

The missions are some of the worst I have ever seen in an MMO. The grind in SWG today is unbearably boring and empty. I'm glad you enjoy it, that's your opinion, but the missions are dreadful and the servers are empty.
I appreciate the input, although the servers are only empty in some places, you have to find a hang out spot which there are quite a few on each planet. As for the missions they aren't so boring if you have friends to play with.
It really depends on the mission , Some yes very lame . Others have been quite fun , although I have seen better polish and imagination. The quests in place now are something that really could have helped old school SWG ,That goes for PVE in general in NGE .Although I severely miss the old loot/weapons systems from pre-cu , not to mention the combat and my fencer/pist/doc .
I haven't tried PVP (haven't reached 90 yet ) , Which is my main focus in MMO's , I do expect it to be better executed/balanced than AOC However.

Not from experience but from talking to several level 90's in game i hear the PvP in very fun.

What level are you now ? I'm level 87 due to grinding bits and pieces here and there during various vet trials.I've really only done some of the new 85-90 content , As for the rest I have no clue .
And As I said it depends on the mission some have been horribly long and boring .

currently i have reached the trial maximum level of 25, and im buying a full sub in about 1 or 2 days and continuing my awsome star wars experience
It's that much like AOC?

Get-over-it. I was on here a month ago reading these boards and last month you were reiterating the same old tired crap you and the rest of you mouth breathers are now.
I was there too pooky., from first day to NGE. I manage life fine without saying anything about the game either way.
But I'm going to say something just this once. I tried it a while back and the jabba themepark/Legacy part was down right boring and never friggin ending from open world random spawn to the similiar. However, I decided to give it a whirl with my free month and they re-vamped the jabba quests and they aren't like sitting here listening you you old whiney hags anymore.
:P
Glad you love SWG!!
I wish you all the fun possible!
I still love SWG...I don't care what the NGE or other players say
I would also say that bugs are EXTREMELY minimal in my experience.
What couldn't be better?? A Star Wars MMO!!
You'll find the community is very fun-loving for the very most-part,
And PvP (and) PvE, and everything else is very fun.
It's really one of those games where there's a LOT of endgame and fun leveling
You will ALWAYS have something to do in that game...
Even after 4 years of playing, one day I can feel like I don't want play 10 features of content in SWG, and still have loads of fun. There is no other game that has impressed me like that.
Hope this enourages you and others reading to keep playing!!
My ONLY and only complaint would ever be graphics.
It's not that they're BAD, they just aren't NEW, you know?

PS. It's not a grind fest, don't listen to others. The Legacy Quest (questline that takes you from landing on Tatooine to level 50ish) may seem like a grind to some people who roll thru it in less than a week, and you'll have plenty of content to go around leveling. Even if you want to resort to "Grinding", it's actually really not that bad at all. I had lots of fun with it ( solo RPer here :P )! And it's not like it's not rewarding...at the VERY LEAST!!
actually when im running my graphics on max, which i get no lag from, it looks alot better than any others ive played
What about the other 40 levels following Legacy?
All you have as options are your ten terminal missions daily, a possible theme park, grinding, and Kash quests.
Once your Kash quests are dried up, you are grinding until you can go to Musty.
Once your Musty quests are dried up, you will be grinding until you can do Azure Cabal.
Once Azure Cabal is done you are limited to ten term missions and grinding to finish up whatever is left to hit CL90.
Telling prospective players, or anyone actually, that the game is not a grindfest when it is pretty common knowledge the content after Legacy stagnates and becomes nearly non-existent is a diservice to anyone interested in trying the game or returning.
There wouldn't be threads asking for a continuation of Legacy constantly if it were not needed.
Rock a FailCom avatar now and express your disgust with pride!
The truth hurts...
Funcom RX
It's NOT needed, and there are PLENTY of quests to level. I did it with an alt practically full on, with honestly only "grinding" very few times...but I didn't see it as a chore at all. It was fun, since I spent most of my SWG leveling experience exploring anyway.
By the time you get to the end of legacy, sure, most players don't know what to do, so they resort to either grinding, or having fun. But there's stuff out there!!
On my main I grinded twice; once when I felt like joining a friend from levels 56-59, and once from about 82-90. That was before the content they have now for the NGE
Either way, it's not like the game revolves around combat like most MMOs out there.
The important thing to remember is that in SWG, everything is an adventure unless you treat it like a regular MMO. There's segments of content in SWG that no other game has ever implimented (or care to touch for that matter).
Most of the players you have playing the game now are all Star Wars fans...
And just really great people.
They put in that meatlump themepark and then after kasshyk there is mustafar. When I returned I just did the terminal missions and went from 80-90 in 10 days (i wasn't in a hurry though).
Also note that the heroic encounter "run-up" quests give great xp as well. And the collections system has collections that you can complete with good xp.
For a moment there I thought you were talking about leveling in AoC levels 21-80 until I saw you say SWG.
Although you do have a point, especially on older quests that have not been updated, the game has a ton new quests that are quite enjoyable. The legacy quest chain alone is nice. And I like the fact I have multiple paths to get from 1 to 90 instead of Elwynn to Westfall to Duskwood to Stranglethorn Vale and so on.

As you can see by this chart you are way wrong about the areas most go unused..

Don't worry about anything anyone says, i'm with you. SWG is a great game since day 1. Keep it up, what server are you on?

Meh after 4 level 70s for alliance and 2 for horde plus assorted toons I made that never made it to 70, its the same. Anyone who is Horde will end up in the Barrens, and unless you do some careful planning, you will end up in Stranglethorn Vale on your alliance toon killing those raptors for the 4th time for Nessingway. And once you're 60, you will hit those same zones over and over in your quest to 70. But it makes WOW no better or worse than most MMOs. As you level new toons, you generally do the same areas over and over. Just that SWG (like UO) is more of a sandbox game allowing different areas and paths to level.

swg was sandbox in 2003 till 2005
after it became the nge it became lame
i wouldn't even call the nge a game.

This guy thinks the grind in swg is is unbearable TODAY? Holy crow, he shoulda tried doing master bounty hunter or jedi pre-cu, it almost makes me ill thinking about the endless terminal missions for mbh and the out of the way secret non stop afk macro grind of jedi in the geo caves. I for one am now satisfied with todays swg, i cant believe i played pre-cu in genuflect it was a horrid rugged game, the best analogy i can think of for pre-cu swg is rubbing your hand along a long splintered board and pretendoing to enjoy it because its the only board of its type around.
playing eq2 and two worlds
I actually enjoyed my grinding in Pre-CU. As far as Jedi went, it was a CHOICE.
Players didn't have to become Jedi, they CHOSE to. I liked the grind because I grinded how I wanted to, it wasn't forced on me. I could go do anything I wanted to and advance any skill I chose to.
I had CHOICE. I had FREEDOM. The NGE will never offer that.

This is the biggest whine on any of these boards. There is no bigger whone that the whine about whining.

If you never played SWG before the NGE, you'll love the game.
I played for about 2 years, and had a blast. I did eventually become bored, but considering I was bored with WoW in 3 months, GW in about 6, not too bad.
If they add major content, I'll return (probably will after a few more chapters so I'll have plenty of "new" stuff).

____________________________________________________________________________________
SWG from launch to NGE launch had exactly no quest chains. The only only quests in pre-cu were the factional themeparks (could be done in one gameplay session), the Nyms themepark (done in less than an hour), or the warren (also done in a short play session).
The only way to gather xp in pre-cu was to grind endless pickets, bols or npc's in "spin-groups" .
In the NGE you can still grind npc's and creatures and do your 10 terminal missions a day (gets you about a level a day as bonus xp, takes about 40 min a day to do them), or do quests.
Besides Legacy quest, you have the Azure Cabal, the revamped factional themeparks, all the heroic quest "run ups", kash and musty quests to select from as well as the new mid-level meatlump themepark.
From a "sandbox" prespective you have WAY more choices to level than were available in the pre-cu time period.
