What do you guys think of the release date MMORPG.com has up for Darkfall? I noticed it on the front page, I was kind of curious where they could have gotten it from...
Yeah I'm guessing the only facts to back that assumption would be what Tasos said about it releasing in 2008. I just don't see it happening. We haven't even been given a beta beginning date as of yet. Without beta coming soon it would be impossible to get a decent game out by Decemeber '08.

No, you see, the game was about finished three years ago, and since then there has been some super-secret underground beta being conducted in an abandoned Greek military bunker, where the testers are guarded and monitored at all times so they cannot leak information.
Except the testers are not people, but rather the offspring of the monkeys that were sent into space and came back as geniuses. This MMORPG is now monkey-approved..

P.S. You guys do realize that Tasos does not use base-10, right? He uses base-16, so when he said it releases in 2008, he really meant 8200. Technically it was not a lie!

You are assuming that the closed beta has been of no value and that they won't have ironed a lot of the Issues out already. Most open betas these days are just a free ride for most and in general only add real value with respect to client/server load. The world technology is nothing new, if the code is good a small open beta could suffice.
Better to wait and see what they actually do, I will be dissapointed if they delay this time without real evidence of why backed up with footage but until the end of this year I am not going to worry. And neither should others for a game in development.

The guys at Darkfall are pros..they dont need an open beta..they have hundreds of pro players, testing the game in a closed beta..when the game is out it will have 0 bugs, run really smoth..
Darkfall is going to be out the end of 2008..and its going to be the best mmorpg. and the best release ever..and..all this will be free...a free download of the game, free to play and free weekly updates and expansions...in fact they will pay the customers to play the game..the money you make ingame will be sent directly to your account irl...
In the year 2012..darkfall online will become self aware...and take over the internet, along with everything conected to it...it will start building machines to destroy us humans..and we will have to fight back irl..so no more games for nobody...it will be the real thing , a real life mmo..only problem will be the harcore mode for everyone..no spirit rez...when you die..you die...
Machines will win..humans porpose in the universe was to create darkfall online so that the next phase in the universe would start...only machines are strong enogh so survive anywhere in the universe..and make infinite copyes of themselfes...the objective is:
To restart the universe and time itself...the universe will stop expanding, the stars will stop burning, and only machines can pull the universe together....and from so much mass going to a single point the energy created from that will make the big bang once more..and the universe will restart...
And where is God in the middle of all this?? God doesnt exist..god exists only in the humans mind...

When I see actual footage with a real UI, I just might give them a chance they are getting close to beta, until then this game still resides in the vaporware column.
I would not take anyone's bet no this being a 2008 title, that would be completely unfair to take advantage of someone like that. You could probably bet this won't be out in 2009 and be fairly safe on that one too.
