Comments
HERE IS THE CORRECTED ONE
In a word, Yes, I'll be getting it, preorder, any bonuses and doing my Hall of Monuments too
From what I have read thus far it sounds like they are making it a Free 2 play version of WoW with better graphics... basically adding more grind to GW1, Which I hate. Adding more of a story Which I like. Open world...which I am neutral about, and pvp/pve servers. Which from what i understand you can freely move around. The big downer for me is the level cap raise...Another grind fest is NOT NEEDED look at the list to your left, all but 2 of those games are GRIND FESTS I will not buy GW2 when it comes out. I will wait a month or 2 after to see and ask around about it If its a grind fest in any way then Ill stick to Guild wars 1 I know about 50 players in GW1 who already don't plan to leave for GW2 and im sure there are thousands of them out there, Sure lets say 80% of GW population goes to GW2 then of those 80% 30% come back because they didn't like it...there would be enough players to keep GW1 up for a while. Im just assuming this because its what happened with EQ1
Do a little more reading. ArenaNet have specifically stated that the level cap will be raised, but purely for cosmetic reasons. In other words, your skills and attributes will still be capped at level 20 as they are for example, but you can still gain levels. Those levels will mean nothing. It's a way of "rewarding" those players who put much effort into a single character. The casual and hardcore players will be catered for.
Anyway, I'll be pre-ordering the collector's edition if there is one.
Too just add to what Lydon said... Remember you currently keep gaining levels in GW1 aswell... the difference isyou get a skill point for each successive level rather than a new level... all they intend to do is change thatto show howmany levelsyou actually have... (which wouldcurrently make my Necro lvl 189, but fnuh)
I can't with certainty say whether or not I'm going to buy the the game until more information has been released. As it's now we've seen little of how the game looks or got information about any thing except the very "concept". I will most likely buy the game, but I'm not entirely sure that'll happen; other games may seem better or GW2 may turn out to be bad.
I don't really know if I'm going to buy this game. Hmm...
If its as instanced as the Original GW then no thanks... Im looking for an MMO not a single player game that you CAN play co-op on.
Currently restarting World of Warcraft
No I will not buy GW 2 why?
There just gonna do the same thing anyway!
After like a couple months of Gw2 being out an expansion pack will be released for it. then another one then another one.
At first I understood why..obviously they need to make money..and you get new content everytime like new features new classes new places etc
but it gets really irritating to buy expansion packs over and over
The level cap is going to be what? 30? no much different
Wow, so neither ofthe above two posters know ANYTHING thats already been said about the gamethen?
PERSISTANT WORLD, with Instanced missions for the storyline
Level Cap of 100 or higher, possibly infinate
Expansions may happen, but nothing is decided yet, they haven;t gotten to that point yet, however the Canthan, Factions areas won't be covered, although in the storyline, so they are open as a possiblefuture expansion
One of the most advertised features of GW2 is that it won't be instanced.
No one is forcing you to buy anything. Unlike WoW, new campaigns and expansions don't raise the level cap.
Although I dont consider Guildwars to be a proper MMO, I do get my moneys worth of entertainment out of each expansion. I will definitely be purchasing GW2.
I find GW to be an ideal game to fill in those gaps between 'proper' MMOs and as something a bit different to play when i need a change of pace.
Oh yes i am really looking forward to GW2. No instances hehehe. I am going to pre-order it the moment i get the release date.
Actually thats wrong, there WILL be instances
All the story line missions and dungeons will be instanced aswell as Boss areas
The majority will be persistent though. At least that's the gist I'm getting. Quests usually make up the majority of the game, which won't be instanced. Also, The Mists will be uninstanced too. I can't wait for the latter!
No
MAGA
I most likely will since GW as it is today is a game, you feel like playing a storyline, with multiple variations. So if Areanat manage to maintain that decisive aspect an improve on it with less instancing I'll buy it. I have nothing against buying different campaigns and expansions as an alternative to subscription, which in a way I feel like force me to play since I paid for it just another month. Level cap at 20 I think is an advantage then the focus can be on gameplay and not ranking.
That was my opinion. We don't all agree some like GW some do not. Though I think it is the leading MMO, WoW set aside, when it comes to number of players. Those who disagree in general what do you gain from trying to slaughter the other guy verbaly?
Enjoy diversity.
I'm buying GW 2 cause GW was and still is a good game to play and i never had any major problems with it running on my computers, and it also fit's budget. I spent 9 months playing and paying for WoW cause a brother of mine wanted me to play the game with him, and I got to say WoW is just a bloody mess. I had to come back to GW to where everything makes sense again, dont get me wrong WoW had some cool things in it but GW 2 will have them as well and maybe better, but I cant dish out $15 a month for a game that I might not play in a month or so , but thats why I'm going to buy GW 2 , cant wait to make a charr mesmer...LOL
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb....
I can't wait for this game to come out!!!! Actually this is the only game I am really anticipating at this time, I have been very impressed with Guid wars and know that this will be even better. At the moment I am just killin time with the other games until this one finally gets here. I like the whole idea of the "mist" areas sounds awesome. Though I have not heard much on other activities to do in the game but I really hope it has more things to do that are not all combat related, then I would finally have a game that me and my friends like and can play together. I like pvp combat .. but some of my close friends like to play non combat games with other skills. It really would be awesome if we had one game that we could all enjoy. When we played Guild wars1 together they would all get killed in PVP and I would have to kill everyone on the other team by myself.. that isn't always fun for everyone.
As an x long time DAOC player(who finally quit) I can't wait. Faction warfare 24/7...whats not to like.I think the devs will be a lot smarter and not make the awfull mistakes that drove DAOC into the ground.I wish it were comming out this year.
I will not be buying Guild Wars 2...
I loved Guild Wars until about 3 months after Factions released. When Anet realized that the world was too large for PUGs, and started developing NPCs to take over the job of other players, I forgot why I loved the game.
If a company attempting to make an MMO, failed that horribly...I can't possibly risk spending 50 dollars on another blunder.
I'll be watching it for the first few months after it is released, if things are looking up, I may purchase it. But really, I feel Anet dropped the ball with the first game, it was like playing Gothic 2 (single-player game), without a decent storyline and a hell of a lot more grinding.

It's honestly like everyone logs onto WoW, and games like WoW, just to masturbate. Everyone plays by themselves, and when they don't, they get what they want and get off.

Can't wait for GW2 to come out. Haven't been bored with GW1 as yet - and ArenaNet (or ArenaNuts as I like to call then - since they are a tad zany when it comes to fun events) have made such a solid and untarnished game so far - that I hail them for bringing another free, and this time "traditional" style MMO (since people crib about GW1 not being a "proper" MMO) to the world.
Where do I preorder?!!
I never had a problem with the style of the game, until PUGs died out...I'm glad some people like Guild Wars as it is, I can't stand it.

Wrong
Henchman were added to the game just a few weeks before release... Of Prophecies a year before
The intention of ArenaNet was NEVER to create an MMO, but PvP game with FPS and RTS stylings, which they did, with fanominal success!
Guild Wars 2 however will be making a departure from that towards the MMO feel... the PvP side will be the same though, plus the added World PvP... However, as an MMO? Fully persistant world? can party with anyone anytime? Can solo when you want? Yep, its an MMO

I have the exact opposite feeling about Guild Wars.
I started playing when Factions came out and I think the game only got BETTER from there, exactly because of the changes the developers made which reduced the need for PUGs. Most of the times when I remember having to PUG in Guild Wars the results were usually disasterous. Half of the people in the group would be members of my guild who I was talking to on our vent server and the other half would be random folks who I couldn't talk to at all, not only because they weren't on the vent server but because they wouldn't listen to the in-game chat either. Situations like these usually ended with the entire team getting wiped because of something stupid one of the non-guild members of the party did and everyone else would rage quit as a result of it.
Later when they added heroes it made things vastly better because we didn't need to PUG. If my guild only had enough people online to form half a team, then everyone brought one hero character and the problem was solved. Some people claim this ruined the grouping aspect of the game. I disagree, I think it made it better. I was still grouping with people on a regular basis, the only difference was that I was only grouping with people I actually WANTED to group with and I wasn't being forced to drag along a bunch of idiots who I didn't know and who wouldn't listen to me. Thats a big improvement in my book.
I've heard the rumors for awhile that GW2 will have more "MMO" style to it and that they probably won't inculde NPC Henchmen or Heroes. If that turns out to be the case I probably won't even play it. If I want to spend all day shouting "LFG" in a room full of morons then there are plenty of other places I can do that without even having to pay for it. I think the Guild Wars developers made the right decision by taking the game in the direction that they did and now it seems to me that they are doing a 180 with GW2 and taking it in the exact opposite direction. I don't know what wack ass logic they used to come up with that plan but it doesn't sound like something I want any part of.
