What we have here is failure to communicate ....

What "Fanbois" need to understand is that most "Haters" are just upset because they can see just how good AoC can be, then they see what kind of "fixes" FC is tossing out.  When the "Haters" hit the forums to voice their opinions the "Fanbois" jump all over them for "hating" instead of approaching them the way they should:

As a fellow gamer that is having issues.

If Age of Conan is to succeed, then quit chasing off those that have problems. Lend an ear, allow them to vent, and be positive.

What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some fanbois you just can't reach, so you get what we had here all week which is the way they wants it. Well, they gets it. And I don't like it any more than you mmo'ers.

What we have here is a company that had an unfinished game and tried to hide the fact as long as they could and took advantage of initial sales. To make a profit and make promises to improve the game in hopes of keeping as many paying customers as long as possible. In short these folks give boiled eggs a bad name.

I forget, how many eggs did Redford eat? 99 or 100? Damn good movie.

    On topic:

Like all games before it, blind pucker-mouthed fanbois will defend to the death the right not to point out flaws with their game. Most of them likely sleep with the disks under the covers, and like teenage girls have posters of the lead dev on their pink painted bedroom wall.

    I applaud your effort though.

I was a fanboi at first and hoped that this was the cure to my mmo fix (which hasnt been satisfied since pre-cu swg) but it wasnt.

To me AoC was pretty fun the first 45 levels or so but as I increased in level the game got worse. Not to mention the horrible patches. As I approached lvl 70, all the 80's in the guild were asking "Now that Im 80 what do I do now?" there just isnt enough content in the game to keep people interested. End game sucks, crafting is an absolute mess, instead of fixing classes they just nerf them. Lag spikes happen all the time.

Its total garbage and I think funcom is goin down in flames in a year or two. They might be able to ride the ship with 1 mmo disaster but not 2.

Actually, the title of this thread is a line from Cool Hand Luke, played by Paul Newman.

Hmmm, what we have here is a thread where yet again, people that dislike the game are somehow classing themselves as inherently superior to those that support it who are classed as idiots for not being able to see the world from the OP's view point.

Excluding the obscure movie references which were actually interesting, the rest just seems to be the usual display of 'Hatebois' patting each other on the back.

Given that the thread is ironically about communication, it says a lot about how representative these threads are that supporters of the game couldn't even be bothered to respond. I support the game purely because I enjoy playing it, but I am certainly not a 'Fanbois' as I grew out of declaring myself a 'big fan' of anything a very long time ago.

If I like something I will play it, otherwise I will just find something else, it's no big deal. I think that probably many other supporters of the game feel the same way, despite the flaws. For the time being they enjoy it so they keep on playing, but it's just a game not a religion.

For some reason many people that hate the game seem to assume that the supporters are idiots that are totally besotted with it, rather just normal people who find it an enjoyable way of passing the time.

If people stopped trying to turn everything into tribal warfare, they might realise that there isn't a huge 'Us Vs Them' divide & that actually, enjoying the game despite it's current flaws was mainly just down to personal taste.

If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"?

Damn it! I like that movie too. Always confuse their names with their faces for some reason. So how many boiled eggs was it?

  • CrazyIvorCrazyIvor Member Posts: 50

I've seen this whole thing happen so many times before, a new game comes out and the two sides gather to do battle over it. What it boils down to is that you either like a game or you don't, it's how you go about expressing your opinion that causes all the arguments and tension.  Personally i played AoC for about two weeks, got to level 40 then made my judgment that the game wasn't for me.  I came here, posted a review on it and left it at that.  I know my opinion differs from those who enjoy the game and see good in it, so be it, why waste time trying to persuade someone otherwise?  If you pass someone in the street who is eating a sandwhich you don't like would you stop to tell them how much you don't like it, and how they too shouldn't like it ?  Sorry to go off on a tangent, but surely you can see the futility of it?   If everyone was the same the world would be a very boring place, just agree to be different and move on

    Playing: Nothing
Retired: Runescape, DAoC, SWG, Planetside, Guild Wars, WoW, EVE, Battleground Europe, LOTRO, AoC, WAR.
    Tried: Pretty much everything!

Actually FC was saved by it's communication with players prior to release, without the hype this might have been rubies of eventide 2.

When I read your topic TITLE i was like YES finaly someone who  understands and might have common sence, yet reading it's content it's AGAIN on of the many one-sided topics unfortunaly.

I was hoping you would say something like both sides that is both hater and fanboy's are bad and ruin this genre.

What I see allot is people unable to understand what constructive means and often they resort because lack of experiance towards calling anyone positive a fanboy, they often only see it one way.

And if you people would actualy understand what it is they read people  would tone down on the use of fanboy's and you will start to focus on the real issue's in this genre, and lets face it the real issue here is people being to damn closeminded and unable to actualy understand what it is people say or write.

Give me tousends of constructive meaningfull topics and you will hear nothing from me other then trying to help in that costructive topic, but .....when i see a one-sided topic that actualy harms this industry more then it help then you will hear my complaint againt it.

Wish we saw more people with open minded way of thinking instead of those narrowminded way of thinking we see mostly from these one-sided topics.

What does the above comment have to do with the topic from a Movie called Cool Hand Luke. Funcom made alot of money on a hyped unfinished product and I along with alot of other folks are tried of paying for beta testing an unfinished product.

Dont play an mmo because its the best out there, play it because you like it. (not aimed directly at the AOC/wow fanboys)

Indeed people should really play what is fun to them and not play something just because it is populair or because all their friends play it. As honostly we see people for example with WOW who say they dislike or hate the game but only are in that game cause friends are playing it. I mean common...........

If players feel a game is already fun but  can become even more fun I welcome good constructive meaningfull topics, but seriously these one-sided complaints we see like topics like this need to end.

  • Time-BanditTime-Bandit Member Posts: 14

Yup.  I'm not a lover or a hater.  I'm a consumer.  And the current state of AoC is a mess.  I could point you to numerous threads on "official" forums that prove that, cite in game specific examples of why the game is in a state of disarray, but that would be considered hating right?

Buyer beware applies to all of life.  I just hope that people see AoC for what it is.  A game that reviewers have largely classed as fun but missed the mark.  Even PC Gamer that got the exclusive item "Totem of Origins" said that it was worth it for about 30-60 days.  After that, there wasn't enough content to satisfy most people and that the lack of polish on the game was clearly evident.

What I want on forums is honest opinions to look and see if something is worth my hard earned dollars and time.

Oh another one of those "why cant we all get along?" threads. How boring and pointless. Everyone says whatever they like and there is nothing wrong with that. Its a big maelstrom of chaos - thats the way it should be and thats the way I like it. Every now and again someone like yourself pops their head up out of the big scrum and says "Now come on everyone lets just be polite shall we" and then you get punched in the face and pulled back into the big old fisty fight......so why bother? Just join in and enjoy the violence!

No-one is gonna get along and be nice. We're human beings......thats not what we do. People fight and squabble and argue because its fun. If we arent waging war in a computer game then we bring the warfare to these forums instead. If someone says something that I disagree with then I'm not gonna just sit there nodding my head like a good little lamb......I'm gonna get my verbal greatsword out and hack their heads off!!! Simple as that.

You think the success of AoC is because fanboys chase haters away? What a load of dumbass crap! No-one chases anyone away. If players are leaving AoC then its because they dont like playing it.
