Hey Guys,
Basically I am wondering if it is worth tying out this game. I have never really played it before and all I hear from guildies from WoW is that if you decide to play it needs to be on a Classic Server.
Why is this?
I tried playing the game today and started the tutorial, I know this game is old, but hell the tutorial is hard enough lol. The map shows zero information other then tiny dots with no map legend whatsoever. I am guessing the only way is to actually read the quests word for word .
(I know that sounds carebear ish)..
Anyway, I love pvp ALOT playing WoW competitively having a rating of 2000+ in 2s / 5s for all 3 seasons, the game has become very boring and having a decent amount of issues balance wise. (wont go into detail, but blizzard is taking this into the wrong direction.)
I decided to play AoC hearing about the great PVP content it would have.. WELL IT BLOWS (I wont go into detail again..)
Anyway, is this game worth spending the time learning how to play? Although this game doesn't offer the cutting edge graphics or the up to date UI needs of the populace, I am wondering how the PVP actually is?
How hard is the leveling in this game? Is it centered around questing or grinding? Am I going to need to raid 24/7 to get the gear needed to pvp without being terribly useless? Are there just outrageously broken classes currently?
I really do appreciate the answers you can give me and all honest opinions on the game. I really am looking for a fun mmo to keep me at bay till WAR Online (even after the massive content cut )
Thanks Guys/Girls!

This game is the best for RvR. (IMO).
Its not too hard to level tbh and with the new origins server coming out soon , there'll be literally thousands of players starting from scratch.
I play Mid Gareth but you should choose any realm now...practice for a few weeks and then roll on origins.
This game does have its issues but I cannot for the life of me understand why more people dont play it. Its not the easiest game in the world in regards to specs and templates and getting rolled in RvR can hurt , but when its good...it's very good.
Look me up if you roll Mid Gareth, and if there's anything I can help you with I will , or I'll ask a guildie too.Cant help you level though cos I'm always out fighting
/salute
After burning on AoC and looking around I was wondering about DaoC too. Isnt it a dieing ga1me though? Is it worth levelling a toon at this stage of the game?
The Classic server cluster is well populated, and I imagine when the Origin Server goes live that will be well populated too.
You won't have problems finding people to play with.
The community is also very helpful and willing to give new players advice and get you started along your way.

I have never had a poblem finding people to play with so I would say it is worth it .
Reason more people dont play it is cos mythic completely borked the class balancing with the catacombs characters for one and also the way it went made it gear dependant and or on a bot (non classic of course)
Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.
How do you play PvP competitively in WOW? It's a friggin GAME.
Anyway, is it worth trying out? Yeah, everything that WOW did they stole from DAoC in my opinion. This was the first game with almost everything that WOW has. THe only real difference is that character development is deeper in WOW.
Leveling is much easier now than ever, but to be honest the best PvP in this game comes around level 20, not 50, but thats just me.
pvp in daoc is nothing like WoW. Don't be surprised if you get smoked a lot.
The real draw of DAOC is the group based rvr and keep takes. I don't know what it is like these days.
Honestly I think mythic broke it with their "new frontiers"
They made it too easy to get around the frontiers and created hours long caster stand offs since everyone could teleport right back to the fight.
It's worth a shot though, especially if you can hook up with a guild.
If you are gonna play solo better roll a stealther or you will get rolled constantly, and play on a classic server like Gareth or Lamorak so that you won't be required to have a buff bot.
