I really don't want to sound grumpy or so. But I think mmorpg.com should wait awhile before they re-review it. What have actually changed after they did the review. Can't do review all the time, Sigil had their chance with this. And mmorpg.com actually waited a real long time before they reviewed it.
I would rather see a review when or if SOE actually does another market push trying to sell Vanguard. Which would mean that the team actually think they have accomplished their current goals (not Brads vision). So that we get review with more flesh, and difference, to it then a current re-review would get.
But maybe mmorpg.com already are doing this, what do I know.

Horrible - This game does not function, and should not be for sale on the open market. Avoid at all costs. Bad - There is nothing fun or interesting about this game. Poor - This game has very little to reccommend it, and has a long list of detractors. Probably not the best use of your time or money. Mediocre - There is nothing that stands out about this game, and there is only a short list of detractors. Acceptable - This game has a few stand-out features with few, if any, glaring detractors. Good - This game met or exceeded our expectations in some areas, and is without any major weaknesses. Good times for all. Great - This game is a solid effort, and meets the expectation for what a high-end MMORPG should be. This game is worth your time and money. Fantastic - This game has exceeded the expectations that we have for an MMORPG. Not buying this game could be a colossal mistake. Perfect - This game is the ideal MMORPG. It is virtually flawless, and raises the standards by which MMOs should be judged.

Personally I think they should wait until the Trial Island is set up, the models revamped, and then re-review. That is suppose to be like a relaunch, complete with a downloadable trial.
Perfect reboot, and perfect time to come back and see if SOE did some EQ2 style magic here.

Ye, I would like to have them wait longer. But anyway I don't think they should do a re-review in the purpose of maybe get higher points.

Absolutely not. Keep the original score, and review the Island and model revamp as it's own work.
I would like to see a new review, but it should be after Trial Island and the return of the character features.
What kind of bugs me about mmorpg.com is the amount of orignal content that is written about this game. If you navigate to a game from the game list, you can see all of the articles that have been written about the game.
For Vanguard there was an interview in March of 2008, then before that there is an article from August 2007. The other 4-5 artices are either from release or from Beta. If you look at a game like AoC or Lotro you see many more articles and feature stories about the game. I think there are probably 10 articles about AoC this month. So perhaps not a new review, but at least more coverage please.

Has this game really deserved any coverage? Until recently (1 year and a half after launch) it was hardly playable. I doubt the staff here even thought this game was worth their attention, which it wasn't.

you're clearly here to annoy VG fans. I'm pretty sure you don't play the game, so you don't have any idea what the game is like or where it 'was worth their attention', which again is not your decision to make.

Yes, I agree with waiting until SOE are actually 're-releasing' with new character models and trial island.
As far as coverage goes, as much as I would like VG to get more coverage, if you look at how many hits each game gets, VG is way down the list and MMORPG.com really have to write stuff in line with what their visitors actually want to see.
Massively re-reviewed VG a month or so ago and the writer was really hooked by the game and resubbed. That kind of write-up is great from such a big site as Massively. MMORPG seems to be far more mass market and focused on the big sub games (except WoW strangely).

Agreed, the new models should be complete first and full customization put back into the game.

I happen to think VG is one of the best games out there... now, but the fact is it was hardly playable up until recently. It surely was NOT worthy of any attention up until recently. So step back jack and hop off my fender.

Have to say, unless there's plans to add meaninful risk vs reward PVP to the game (and I know there isn't) I see no reason to re-review the game. Sure, it may be a whole lot more polished, but its core gameplay is exactly the same as it was at launch (albeit more complete of course).
A re-review should really be done if core gameplay changes, such as was done for SWG after the NGE, not just because they finally got around to fixing the defects.

For character-nutsies like myself the game is far from being ready for a re-review.
i hear ya. supposedly, the update next month is going to correct that problem. we'll see i guess.

Hello!
Yeah but.... I think they might re-review it after the re-launch which is probably the next month or September.
That will come with some promotion from what Sil said.

They did it for Matrix, and EQ2 I think...
