Sub

So i bought the game , subscribed for 14.99 1 month and realized i love it. I thought what the hell i ll get the lifetime. Now the wording seems odd on the main site but before my free month is up if i change my account to lifetime before first payment is due will i get dinged that 14.99 or will it just kick into life after free month is up ?

I think it will start after the last month of your sub. YOu might want to post this on the official forums to see. Or you could call tech support and they might be able to help you.

Ya i m still in the free month period, just seems odd if i change my sub to life it would go into effect after the first month of 14.99 since i haven t been billed for that yet. Not sure if that is the case but who knows :)

If your month isn't up yet and you switch to lifetime, you'll just get charged for the lifetime not both.

You should take more things into consideration before you sub to life-time, I'm glad I didn't at least. Also, it all depends on if you'll miss the money; if it's not a problem, then you shouldn't mind putting down 200 dollars for something you may end up quitting in a couple of months.

At any rate, subs apply after the 14 days/7 day/whatever period

Lifetime subs are great because even if you do take a break for a while you can always come back knowing it didn't cost you anything to do so. Take as many breaks as you want.

The problem with that is you might not ever come back, for me, WOW is a good example of this. Also, 200 bucks isn't anything to scoff at if you're a poor college kid like myself

Thanks for the replys. The money isn t an issue and as a poster mentioned i can take a break and come back from time to time. To me i find the game enjoyable and i appreciate the concern post :) but ya if i don t get dinged i ll be getting the lifetime.

This is the best deal in gaming right now.  The rate at which they are adding free content and the fact they plan on releasing a new expansion every year or so makes it incredible value. Especially when you consider that this game is just in its infancy.

Yea getting the lifetime sub was the best deal ever! Ive already "payed-off" my sub so now it feels like Im ripping turbine off ;D

Well Ill give them money when the expansion comes atleast!

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

Ok hope someone can answer this i ve sent turbine billing an e mail but no response yet. it says

     ?

    Subscription Plan

    Monthly - $14.99

Next Billing Date: August 13, 2008

Next Billing Plan*: Special! Lifetime - $199.00

    * Takes effect on your Next Billing Date

as i read it it says *takes effect next billing date lifetime but why is the monthly still on there ?

    Anyone? :)

  • PapadamPapadam Member Posts: 2,102

Well I guess the lifetime doesnt kick in untill your current sub runs out! But I think only Turibine can give you a good answer... (if you haven tpaid for monthly sub yet then they wont bill  you for it)

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

So my current sub would mean my free month ? I m sure thats what it s saying but theres still 14.99 up there lol.

You wouldn't be charged your initial 15 bucks if you haven't been billed yet.  If you have any doubt, just cancel your account before you get billed then resub with the lifetime.

The next time that your card would be charged, if you have clicked "lifetime" you will get charged for a lifetime sub instead of 14.99.  So if you have not yet been billed 14.99, you won't get billed that +200 / 300  for the lifetime on your next renewal date.   At least that was how it worked when I switched over after subbing for a few months.

But really, see what billing says.  I'm just some guy on a message board :-P

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

lifetime for this game is the best decision. Turbine has already promised a new expansion every month.. this game has long years to go...

New content every month, new expansion every year ;)

But yeah if I had the cash I know for sure i'd get the lifetime option. Sadly I dont have that kind of money - especially with at least 10 games coming out over a 3 month period on the 360 which I want at the end of this year........

More games should have lifetime options.
