Just saw the featurette that mmorpg.com listed on the site. I saw a few more things that impressed me, and somewhat dissapointed me.
First off, is it true that most major NPCs will have voiceovers, and actually speak? Thats pretty amazing for an MMOG, I just hope the game files wont be 20gb
Another thing that impressed me was the combat animations, these were pretty good. Some of the best ones ive seen from just the few short videos ive watched.
Something that dissapointed me was the running animations. In the first of the trio of videos(3rd yet to be released) the players are running up to an orc fort and start battling the orcs there. They way they just kinda strolled up and instantly started attacking just looked so fake. They shouldve been dashing up to the enemy, not walking up and attacking when they were aggrod. Another time in the featurette it showed someone playing from the 3rd person view, an elf i think, was running along. Her back was way too straight, her body moved almost not at all and looked pretty stiff. Anyone else notice that?

Yep.
Noticed all those points.
And I think that minotaur is very ugly. The rest of the movies and screenshots looked good though.

Imperium Acranum rapped me
Some of those videos were pretty old. i am sure they have refined the running and body movements or will before release.
Right now they have said a little over 10gb of disk space required.
So we now it will be at least that much

12 CDs?! Good sweet god! Put them on DvDs or something. Thatll drive thr price up about 10-15bucks you just watch.
They really need to find a new way to compress audio and images, thats just pathetic.

SOE has stated that the game will be contained upon 10 CD's or 2 DVD's, not 12 CD's. As well, they have recieved alot of feedback from the community in concerns with structural models of many of the races and have been working upon developing a "better" look to the models. Movement and pathing is being addressed as well.

The two latest videos released from Everquest 2 are simply amazing. Some parts may still be overlooked by game developers. The game is still in beta, so aspects aren't perfect yet. Voices are going to be simple amazing; most players don't realize the intensity in which voiceovers will bring to gamers.
As for the whole 10 CD issue, does the Regular Version contain the 10 CDs and the Collecters Edition contain the 2 DVDs? This game will be simply amazing.

As far as I remember, in eq1 updates were fixes and stuff.. unlike msot games.. only got new areas/quests via expansion, i'd much rather they just add them in updates :O.. but ya, 130 hours of voices for npcs.. not counting critter sounds and winda nd all that.. or the world.. I would say it is going to be somewhere between 10-15 gigs.. at release. I have a 100 gb hard drive, with only 2 games on it atm.. doom 3 and.. um.. nothing else I guess emulators aren't games.. silly me..
As for compression.. I dled a 75 kb file compressed that unzipped to be about 700 megs.. was from a german website.. some game they releasing or something.. so if they wanted to they could make it like 1 cd :O. Probably some bad sides to compressing it that far though..
