How about this

A massive amount of correspondenc e sent Bio's way to let them know what the customers, the die hard customers who would support the right game, are looking for. SOE turned their backs on us and have paid the price so lets give them an idea of what worked/could have worked with SWG before the dark days....before the Smedster.

Links to fan sites and forums etc. I mean hopefully they have done this already but logic doesnt seem to be the flavor of the day in MMO development

From my experience, Blizzard is the only company that has ever listened to its player base. I don't expect Bioware to be any different. I'm just hoping they'll make a game I find somewhat interesting. (But if all they do is copy WOW, I'll save my money.)

With LA's hand in it i doubt they will do what the fans want and will follow the direction LA dictates. As in follow WoWs lead.

    right up until Kalgan's e-sport.

I really hope its like pre-cu swg but I know in my mind it won't be, it's going to be just like WoW...

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

I HOPE you are wrong, but tend to think you are right :(

Well, I will keep hoping anyway.

Of course, y'know the saying hope in one hand crap in the other --- see which gets full first. But in this case I really do hope you are wrong.

Well obviously LA is going to have its hand in the cookie jar.  Star Wars is one of the most protected IP's in the world.

The other problem is BioWare is no longer a privately owned company.. its owned by EA and answers to share holders.

(remember the flippant responses on forums.. if you were a share holder I might have to respond but we don't have share holders.. well they do now)

After the 860+ million spent.. you think the share holders will be happy with 200k or 300k subs?

I really hope they think outside the box. In what is arguably an already flooded market of WoW clones, who pull in respectable, but nowhere near close numbers, WoW is a beast...and it will not so easily be slain by copycats.

You are probably right Antarious but here is what has always bugged me about SOE. They are for-profit also right? Smed struck me as the guy who would pimp out his grandmother Geriatric Booty magazine if he could make a buck.

So here is my question that still nags at me. Why is there no SWG Classic server? How much does it actually take to maintain a server? And wouldn't a consistent subscription base of say 80-100k be profitable enough?

Somewhere I read that some people thought that maybe LA would not allow two versions using the IP, but I cannot see why this would be the case....

I mean c'mon Smed would pimp his grandma... but Lucas would dig her up and put her in an ewok outfit for a nickel.

This is kind of what I was shooting for. I wasn't suggesting that people try to convince them to reproduce a KOTOR copy of Pre cu but rather that they add some of the general features. Things that you might enjoy like a sandbox environment, numerous classes, iconic  charac.......oops alomost said it, lol.

For the love of God I hope thye think a little outside of the box and try to polish the game so they don't pull a Funcom. This time around the customers will have much less patience than the last time.
