Lineage 2 going casual
I've just recently tried the new Public Test Server for the new Lineage 2 expansion; Gracia. This expansion is targeted at new players coming into the game. Before now the game was targeted at a hardcore audience, but now that is being reworked. What's so great about this new expansion? A couple things, lets start off with the most important four!
Vitality System
Similar to WoW's relaxed experience system, this allows players to increase the experience they gain by up to 300%. While you kill mobs it will reduce to 250%, 200%, 150% and finally back to 100%. There are 4 levels and you simply need to spend 9 hours in a peace zone to gain your Vitality level back. This is a change that will help new players and those who like to play multiple characters on the same account! From my first 20 levels on the PTS, it took only 2 hours to hit class change.
Newbie Buffs Extended to Level 60
Newbie buffs were first implemented for levels 1-20, later they were increased to allow players of levels 1-40, and now in Gracia it will be those players from levels 1-60. These buffs greatly allow players to play casual and solo content up to level 60 at their leisure.
Quests Easier and more Rewarding + Class Change Quests made simple
Some quests in the beginner zones give 1-2 levels worth of experience! Following the path and doing all the quests to level 20 will get you on your way quicker and with more adena in your pocket. Second Class Change quest used to take HOURS to accomplish, now all of them can be finished within minutes.
Affordability
You don't need to pay an ADENA for anything until level 20. Pickup your Wooden Armor set from the Kamael quest. Pick up your shadow weapon from the Newbie Guide. Get free teleporting up to level 40! When you hit level 20 with 300k adena in your pocket, no need to worry. You don't need to buy that 2 million adena weapon from the store anymore! Now comes Standard Weapons which have the same properties and ability as a normal weapon, but it costs only 10% of the price! The downsides are they can't be enchanted, gain special abilities or be augmented. They can however be crystalized. Not to worry after D grade, because you can afford the exact same Standard gear in C grade. You can also buy ALL of C grade in normal shops and low B grade in Luxury Shop! You see that Kris now selling for 40million? Well now you can buy it directly from shop for 13million!
And many more...
Other changes help new players and veterans alike. Jewelry can be augmented, chance of both rare item crafts and "double" item crafts from dwarves. Archers now do less damage the closer they are to their target and dagger classes get boosts all across the board.
