LF Game with Fun Factor

I'm looking to spend a month or two with some fun PC gaming. After playing the EQII trial for a couple hours, I realized that the traditional MMO simply cannot hold my attention anymore.

My desired game should have the following traits:

-Free or very inexpensive to play

-More pick-up-and-play fun than traditional MMOs like EQ2 or WoW
