So I got introduced to MMORPGs via an ad for Last Chaos. (Good game, too long to lvl- my playing quit when my account got stolen) Then I started playing Archlord. (Awesome graphics and fun game, but again too long to lvl and these games always seem to have one right way of doing things and you can't go back and fix it very easily.)
Then I started playing Guild Wars to get away from grinding. Again awesome graphics and whatnot, but idk something missing.
I've downloaded a million mmos and most of the time I can't figure out where I am or what I'm doing so I just quit. lol
Anyhow, I know there are some games not based on lvling at all. (Idk if that's what I want or not) And I saw one the other day (Tales in the Desert?) that wasn't based on combat. Well I was thinking, is there a game where I can have something like crafting as my main job? I think RF online is like that. (I've gotta wait about 8 hours just to finish a patch...)
I guess I wanna do some combat, but not a total grind-fest and some other things. (Common complaint I know, but hey...)
I liked how Last Chaos lets you create your own weapons/armor out of raw materials, you can go cut down herbs and harvest energy waves and whatnot, which is so cool, but you don't get any xp for it.
Archlord has very little of this, but the ransacking/carving/skinning thing to make potions and "food", which I think is flawed, fails way too often... which would be ok if you got exp for it. Archlord is really cool in many ways, but you gotta spend forever swinging a stupid blunt weapon that misses half the time at werewolves in a cave to get your way up to lvl 30 before you can pvp, which you don't get any exp for either, once you can do it.
Catching my drift anyone? Is RF online my best bet? (if it ever gets done patching...) I d/led it awhile ago but I couldn't figure out what I was doing or where I was so I quit. lol Do you get exp for crafting if you're a specialist? Being a driver might be cool.
Oh yeah... that's another thing I like, is classes that are specific like that. Idk a lot about it, but I think Shadowbane is that way, right? On the other hand, versatility is cool too, like in guild wars, you can have a mix of two classes, so you could theoretically have a monk with a bow... (i tried that once )
Idk if anyone has any helpful suggestions, I'd like to hear em.
Yay I'm 1/5 done with the RF patch! LOL At this rate, I'll come back Sunday night and it might be done.

Hm If you dont have a price problem, buy Pirates of the burning sea for 50$, its 15$ a month, and play freetrader, you can craft stuff and sell it to get EXP but still do decent in combat and get xp.
