I am completely conviced... I am coming to VG!! Been reading various websites and such for the last couple of days, and i really wanna play! NOW, the question is... do i wait for the free trial later on this summer or jump head long now?
I just quit EQ2 (financial reasons)... buuuut... i think i can swing it. Is there a free month? Also, when i do get it downloaded and patched up... what should i roll... a little about me... I have (from Wow-i know i know :P) 2 70 Shaman, 2 70 warriors, a 70 rogue... and other assorted toons any hints as to what i might like?
I am VERY interested in the necro, shaman, or dreadknight (that what thats called?)

If you are having trouble with $15 a month for subscription fee, then I'd say you need to put games on the backburner and get your finiancial situation on track.
But of course you wont listen to that, so yeah, the game can be found for $4 or so on Ebay usually, 30 days of play time is included, and make sure to budget for cigarettes and beer...
As far as classes go, I have no idea what you will like. I played a Shadowpriest and a Hunter in WoW, and I really enjoy the Sorcerer class in VG. Just play a class up to lvl 6 or something, and see if you like it.
Perception is Reality.
Don't drink, don't smoke (what do you do) LOL anyway, it was a little financial a little frankly boredom with EQ2 ... ya i figure i'm pretty much an altaholic so ya i will try a bunch of classes.
Also, i havent been able to find anything on the races (saw the classes thing) just nothing on races.
Melanie
For a class just try them all....they are really fun and there are ALOT of classes so its pretty hard to choose one... i made ALOT of alts to finally realize Blood Mage is the one I like
Went thru quite a few alts myself until I found what is fun and exciting. Paladin for me.
When i leveled my most recent toon to 50, tanks were by far the 'in demand' archetype through the levels. It might be a different situation when it comes to raiding, but for 1-50 I think you'll find it easy to get groups as a DK.
All 3 classes you mentioned are very good solo'ers too, if you enjoy that style of play.
as far as tanks go
Paladin = 1h+Shield
Dread Knights = 2hd specialty
Warrior= dual wield speciality
Shaman, Sorcerer have class revamps coming up, so if these interest you Id wait until AFTER the revamps.
wow, thanks for all the comments guys! I am headed to ebay right now to order my copy...:) hopefully i will see you all on line soon

The druid class has the ability to put some real hurt on mobs with their spells, and their healing spells aren't too shabby either. That may be (possibly could be dunno) similar to your experience on the shaman.
I got bored pretty quickly playing a DK, but whatever floats your boat.
I haven't tried the rogue yet. Maybe I should do that.

i have spent a little time reading on the druid and i definately wanna give that one a try as well... i'm much a fan of "magical melee-ers" lol

Druid does not melee.

As Zsari has said, I do not melee while on my druid. I only do that when I'm feeling cocky because the mob has a sliver of life left and couldn't possibly take me out.
However, some of our weapons have a small ranged attack on them in the form of a wand-like attack. You do have to click the hot key each time that you want to "shoot", but it certainly adds to the DPS if you're desperate. IIRC, the weapon that I have now hits for somewhere in the 80's.

If you are an alt-aholic, VG is perfect for you ! I myself have never been one, but in Vanguard i can't stop making alts !
There are two reasons for this:
1. Content - The amount of content from level 10-40 is impossible to describe in words. For example, 20-30 there are no less than 4 areas i can quest to get very good rewards, and several dungeons as well. In fact from 10-20 there are probably 10-15 dungeon areas you can explore and quest in. Its just incredible how much content there is in Vanguard, more than any MMO i have played eq2 / wow / swg / lotro / aoc.
2. Classes - Phenomenal I play Bard / Bloodmage / Disciple ( so far ) and there are many more i wish to try out, great thing is you can make an alt and not only see a new class but see new parts of the world as well....
I am on Seradon ( allegria / Mirela / Josephine ) look me up !
-Allegria
I guess i looked t it incorrectly, or i've been reading so much that classes are starting to mix togeather in my mind LOL
Allegria, i will do just that... try a bunch, AND i will look you up
Melanie
I just made a new character on Seradon.
Running around as a lvl 6 Cleric called Oswer Reva, haven't met anyone yet.
Thought I'd start off fresh from a few months back and see the changes for myself too.

My main toon is a rogue and to get the full rogue package you must group. I have soloed this rogue to level 26 and there are a lot of things that I have missed along the way because I could not group. I was able to finally go on a group last week and I had fun backstabbing and picking pockets. I have also tried a dread knight and they are kind of boring but try eache one.
If you want to heal and melee, difinetly give the Disciple a try. Probably the single coolest class I've played in an MMO.
** nice Adamant ref
if you are looking for some company I have a paladin near yuor level on Seradon. Next time Im on Ill look for Oswer
Well you could try necro..I have a necro alt, not too hard to get into. Nice to see you are giving Vanguard a try.

I too have altitis, have a full 8 characters..my favorite being the disciple. Close second would be druid and then Psionicist.

I've been curious to try VG as well and I have a couple of questions about it. My first is how solo-friendly the game is. I solo about 70% of the time. Is soloing pretty viable in VG? Next, how are the server populations and which is the most populated? Obviously this is for the other 30% of the time I like to group up.
Thanks in advance!
I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.
The game is very solo friendly. You can solo all the way to 50 if you choose. Lots of quests and lots of areas. Although I think some of the dungeons are the best experiences in the game so don't solo past them if you can help it.
Seradon has the best population. Don't be put off however by your first impression when you log in. VG has a huge number of starting areas that take you through the first 10 levels or so. Because of this there are hardly any people in these areas. However once you get to the second tier areas you will start to see a lot more people and it will increase as you move into the mid levels. From lvl 9 till 19 I've grouped almost all the time in pickup groups and had some great times. I've had great success getting groups.

I have to agree with you..VG is a huge game, population is dispersed over the 3 continents. Just want to add that if you have questions...try the general chat. MOST times...you will have an answer or several within the space of a few minutes.

That's good to hear that it's a solo-able game.. i don't always have time to gather a group... granted i'm a social person and love helpful friendly people/groups/guilds.... but it's good to know i can jump on and do things alone for a little bit.
DANGIT!!!! I just wish my game would get here! LOL
Melanie
yaaa.. i quoted myself LOL :P
Well, it's here!!! I installed and tried to use the station launcher to update it and it kept erroring out... so i decided to try the actual game launcher and it is going good so far! Soon.. so very soon...
