well i did take a look around a few spots and couldnt seem to find a good answer to my question. i realized that this game is aimed more towards pvp styles of playing but does that mean you must pvp to gain experience i.e. "level"? personally i favor group styles of playing like quests and etc. to have more fun in the game so i can level and gain experience.

No there are quests all the way to 40.. But in the higher tiers, the quests invovle PvP.. But there are plenty of Public Quests and there are gonna be dungeons that are almost like raid content.

Here is the break down, feel free to correct me if you have a link.
You can pve all the way to the level cap. You can pvp all the way to the level cap. The fastest way to level is to mix the two.
All Tiers have designated PvE and PvP areas. In Tier 1 it is 80% pve and 20% pvp, Tier 2 is 60% pve and 40% pvp, Tier 3 is 40% pve and 60% pvp, and Tier 4 is 20% pve and 80% pve.
All pve instances are 6 man with the exception of the King battle durring city sieges which are 24 man. PvP ranges from 12-72 depending on the instance.

to the OP. Mythic likes to make their games so theirs content for as many different styles of play as possible. RvR is not like most PvP play but if its not your thing there should be plenty of stuff for ya to do. just wait till the open beta and give it a shot.
