The devs have already stated that they don't want you to pay any money before playing the game. They're not out to lie and steal like Funcom was. They refuse use pre-orders to get people into beta, and firmly believe you have a right to try the game before you buy it. Therefore, leave the game be, if you don't think it exists, that's fine, you can ignore the mountain of evidence in front of you all you want until it releases. But its not hurting ANYONE. They aren't asking for money, they're not getting stocks, they're not selling pre-orders. They deserve respect for that, not people like you.
They say alot of things. Stop hanging on their every word as if it's gospel. You supporters like to mention that, you doubt we will stick around if DF releases. Let me ask you this. Say Aventurine does start taking Pre-Orders before letting people play it. Will you be man enough to apologize to Zaxtor? Or will you play the part of Tasos and try to spin it into something else?
Thank you for making assumptions about me and my stance on games. I like the idea of Darkfall, its the last true MMO (aside from maybe Warhammer) on the horizon. I have read into it enough to know that its real, as should anyone with half a brain. No one reall knows that, what condition the game is. So obviouslly, I don't harp on every word Tasos says. I know the game industry very well, and can read through the lines most of the time. I saw straight through Age of Conan and stopped following it a few years back.
Sometimes Tasos is very blunt and honsest about cut features and the reasons why, he's told us ahead of time. Backround information on him also goes to his credit. The entire team is self funded and perfectionists. When Women's Gamer went there their impression was the game would never be released, not because it didn't exist, but because the developers would never get it into a state they wanted to release it in, because they were obsessed with making it perfect. So, my general impression is that Tasos is an honest person, to an extent, not some anonymous front to a big corporate company trying to hype his game.
That being said, I take most of what he says with a grain of salt, and try not to get excited about things until I see them.
I very much believe Tasos when he says they won't make you get pre-orders ect ect, it fits with my general impression of how the company is run. By people who actually care about the game, and less so about the money (to an extent.)
If he changes it to allow pre-orders, why wouldn't I admit I'm wrong? I'm not a blind fanboy. Learn the difference, and try doing some research yourself.
You take what he says worth a grain of salt? I find that really hard to believe. Considering just about every reply concerning Darkfall, that you make. Is a quote or comment by Aventurine or Tasos. Just look at the original post of yours I have quoted. Then in your current post you say "I very much believe Tasos", about the pre-orders. Who really believes the word of someone who they say word is "worth a grain of salt"? You mention his name at least 5 or 6 times in your post. I mean honestly how am I not supposed to draw that conclusion about you. When most of what you say is "Tasos said this" or "Aventurine dev's said that".
As for your last sentence you need to relax. Do you see anywhere in my post where I said you wouldn't or even would? I asked you directly if you would. You seem to be under the impression that I was making some personal attack on you. It was just a question.

I'd say there's been at least a good dozen or so times I've seen someone start a thread titled "Why isn't game X listed here?", to which I have to post to tell them to click on the damn game list at the top. People new to this site, and even some not so new, only think the games they see listed to the left are the only ones here.

No they don't. AudioVisual did not sign any kind of legal agreement with Aventurine to do anything.
A Memorandum of Understanding is nothing more than a big fat MAYBE. And Maybe's in business don't mean anything. And maybe's 5 months from a supposed commercial launch are a laugh.
considering Darkfall was first publically announced in 2001 and still has no actual release date or even a date for Beta to begin you can safely say that Darkfall is the poster child for vaporware. Every description on the net of vaporware should just use Darkfall as the subject matter.
If that doesn't happen then you can sit back and watch as their community crumbles over night.
Because that will finally prove without a doubt that they have nothing but a generic empty game with none of the amazing features they constantly brag about but never back up.
Of course I am sure a few jackasses would still linger to carry the flame of stupidity onward for awhile longer but who cares at that point.
Darkfall will fail. That is 100% guranteed. It's only a matter of WHEN it's going to fail at this point.

Since you have said you have been waiting / following since 2001 for this game (like myself), don’t you think we should at least wait until the end of the year before any final proclamations are made?
After 7 years, its only 5 more months till we finally know the truth, they are officially committed to starting beta and launching this year, and they have officially committed themselves to releasing a “comprehensive game play video” sometime in August.
Tasos said in June 20th update “There are no serious problems to speak of, and we’re on schedule with our milestones”
In the July 18th update Tasos said “we’re working on the servers, customer and technical support, billing, and distribution solutions along with our partners.”
Tasos has also recently mentioned interviews with mainstream media, magazines, online and visits by the community and press to their offices.
I’m just as skeptical or critical as I you but I’m still willing to give them this one last chance to prove themselves, but of course if non of this happens, especially the comprehensive game play video and beta and launch this year then I personally wont be giving them any more chances.
Yes, I know Tasos has been assuring us beta and release are perpetually coming “soon” for the last 5 years, but this time is different in my opinion, either they are complete charlatans or Darkfall is launching this year.
(The only known publisher for Darkfall so far is Aventurine itself, they only have a MOU with AVE for European distribution. Unfortunately but predictably it appears yet another Darkfall myth has been born)

Were do you get your information? AudioVisual told their shareholder they were creating a game division to publish darkfall.... You DO NOT tell your shareholder something like that if it were not true.

We have videos, but not enough of them, we have screenshots, but not enough of them, we have updates, but not enough of them.
The quantity of released material have nothing to do with the final product! As we just have seen with AoC, released hours of video gameplay dont help the game in any way. And Funcom is a major company, they shouldent be able to make mistakes.
Right, so what make you DF nay-sayers think that everything is working out perfect for Aventurine?? Let them work and we will see when/if DF is relesed.

They absolutely, positively DID NOT tell their shareholders ANYTHING about Darkfall specifically. The word Darkfall has NEVER been mentioned in public by AVE.
The agreement they made with Aventurine was merely this. We will be HAPPY to work with you and publish video games, IF and WHEN there is something to publish. Darkfall is the obvious choice here, I agree, BUT the deal was NOT exclusively for Darkfall.
Let's use some simple reasoning here shall we.
IF... and I do mean IF... Darkfall was READY for release. Don't you think that at least AVE would make an announcement that they are OFFICIALLY publishing Darkfall. You would be reading about it on ALL the gaming sites in their "news" sections. Come on here... We all follow lots of upcoming games.

Listen - with all due respect - I strongly disagree. Why is Mortal Online not on the list yet? Probably because you don't see it is fit yet, right? Because it could be a new Darkfall?
Specifically I feel Darkfall is hurting others. Let me give you two examples:
1. Darkfall is all about useless flames, empty threads. A lot of newcomers to the genre stop by here eventually and get sucked in by Darkfall. Veterans have to sit and write the truth over and over again to let people know.
2. Concerning Age of Conan (a game I am very critical off myself) I feel it is actually unfair to Age of Conan, a real game under development (despite all their own problems and all) that Darkfall use their presence on sites like this one to spread their propaganda. DF gave some really low blows to AoC a couple of months before release. Why should mmorpg.com let DF use their gaming site for a fictive game, that is never going to be released? So I can do a little 3d and photoshopping and make a nice website and get my game added too?
Can you - hand on heart - say you ever believe this game will be released? And if not why does it belong here?
You should rather add a rumour forum for the Bioware game and add DC to the frontpage list. Maybe the Agency and others. How come Darkfall belong on the frontpage but those don't is beyond me.

Sure the ideas sound wonderful, but that is very shallow.

Because after all these years, all we know is what Tasos states to be true, period. There's nothing more to go on than that.

So you think people would fall for that twice? Its not going to happen. You do relize They had a publisher. Darkfall is self publishing major diffrences. (with help distributing.) (and no Aventurine never annunced anything on audiovisual Fans found that info before Aventurine was ready to annunce it)
