<Artemis> I'm stuck on choosing a platform to buy
<Artemis> i could either buy a quad core, 500gb HD, 4gb ram, 9800 GX2 pc, or a ps3 and HDTV
<Artemis> Not alot of great games on pc that warrant such a powerful setup though.
<Artemis> Plus I'm moving to england in a year.
<Artemis> so I don't think I can carry the PC there..
<Artemis> but I'm looking forward to tons of games on PS3, released and to be released.
<Artemis> and i can carry the ps3 there imo.
<Artemis> So I'm wondering if Ps3 is the right choice.
This is basically my dilemma. Could use some help.

I don't think you can play UK games on a US Ps3
That's false actually. PS3 games aren't region coded, this only applies to movies.
I would go with the pc

I don't think either is a wise choice. It will cost you around $100 to bring either to the UK. Also the PS3 HDTV would probably break in transit.
While having a PS3 and an HDTV has its very, very good pros, it also has very nasty cons.
The computer is unlimited, the PS3 is limited. The computer can be upgraded, and be fixed very easily. The PS3 can't.
I am a fan of them both, and I own them both. I actually have them all except a Wii. BUT!!! Here's where it goes south. My PS3 (One of the originals) has failed, after the warranty is void. My warranty is gone, the time is up. It is now over heating and I cannot play for more than 3 minutes. To fix it, I have to send it to Sony and pay them $160. To fix my computer, I take it apart and fix it lol.
Now, while not having a PS3 but having a 52' HDTV (yes only 52 lol) watching football is nice now .
But yea, its nice to have the PS3, but unfortunately for me, mine won't work until I send it in to sony...and I really don't want to. But I do want to play T_T.
You must be doing some uber pwnage hard-core gaming if your PS3 is having overheating issues. Unless it is in a very anti air flow environment or tight cabinet under your tv. I have had my Ps3 for Ooo about 1 and a half years now and i havent had any overheating issues at all. But this is totally off topic to his question.
So, i would still agree with the guy above me because a PC is much more flexible for moving , though the moniters are equally as hard, the only difference being size. The only super sweet game you can buy on a Ps3 is COD4 and you can buy that for your computer too.
Get the PC with sick awesomeness specs.

I have had my PS3 since they came out. Was one of the first to have one. They were prone to disaster. Mine just lasted a while before it struct. I think sony plants bugs in them to blow them up after they are out of warranty lol.
Worked flawlessly up until then. Have had it since they came out and only recently (when GTA4 was released) did it start doing it. Sucks, I know. But, I supposed $160 is better than $500 eh?
