I have not heard very much about PVE. Are there going to be a few dungeons?
I like a good dungeon crawl every now and then with friends.
Not sure If any of you can share this info do to the NDA but any info would be cool.
Level required?
Group size?
6mans/raids ?
Thanks
Comments
yes, all kinds of levels, small groups, 6 mans yes, king raids.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
Dungeons will not be instanced as many people as anyone wants can join a dungeon kinda like a public dungeon but the boss is instanced to your group whatever the size limit or lvl limit If any at all. Im sure there may be some type of special 6man dungeons.
No such thing as luck, just believing in it is what makes it real to you and really...thats all you need.
Im on nobodies' side but my own.
There are going to be some dungeons. At last check both of the cities will have 3 dungeon within them and I'm sure there will be more of them throughout the world. No idea about level requirements but as for raids except for the king battles and RvR in general I wouldn't expect to many of them. Mythic isn't really a fan of time sinks.
Games I've Played: WoW, FFXI, SWG, CoH, EVE Online
Games I'm Waiting for: WAR, Stargate Worlds
If you haven't seen it yet, check out the vid of the Bastion Stair on the main site. That's probably a "raid", though the largest "raids" (besides the King fight) will be one group, which is 6 people. It looks like one of the end-game PvE things though (looks impressive no matter what level it is!)

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

There is PvE and quite a bit of it really. Raids, huge bosses, hard bosses, easy bosses, PUBLIC QUESTS (big deal), quests, tome of knowledge. It has everything you could hope for.
I'm hoping Mythic takes a hint and does full end-game raids with a maximum of about 24 players, hopefully less than that.
However, lowering that cap will make those raids seem like instances, which will be then used by pugs, which really isn't the point of end-game PvE (tactics, strategies, countless attempts, bag of chips and bottle of coke set up by your computer, other computer set up with loot from the next boss and your current DKP).
However, it would be nice if they had some sort of in-game DKP system that guilds could atler and tailor to their specifics needs/wants.
No, that's what Mythic is trying to move away from and why it won't kill WoW. Alot of people, for whatever reason, like what you described. Now, I'm not saying there won't be strategy and skill required to kill a boss. It's just it won't take as many people. When you only have 6 (besides the King fight) you don't have to wait for the other 19 people to get on, or come back from the bathroom, or this, or that, and you won't have to go through the trouble of finding replacements if people don't show up or have to leave in the middle.
The sense of accomplishment is still there, except on a smaller, more viable and more realistic scale. Honestly, WoW's raids made me feel like I was a little doll in a doll house. Everything was huge and to think it would take 25 of us little tiny action figures to kill a giant robot 20 stories high made me feel insignificant.

.
I personally would've loved to see a few raids popping up besides the Kings in latter patches, but I understand this isn't the direction Mythic wants to take their game.
PS. Anyone that describes raiding as waiting for 30 mins for everyone to get online doesn't have a clue... Stop using pugs and find a decent guild
All I'll say about this is my NDA Friendly WAR Beta impressions.
I quit wow.
That being said, Mythic's website fills in much of that info you are seeking.
Always change your signature.
Its a public dungeon. There are No Raid (raid universaly means Multiple Groups joined as a 'Raid Group") Dungeons in WAR.
Im personally glad they won't be including real Raids on WAR. Raids always screw up gear balance between raiders & regular players. The only reason it works in WoW is because there is no other End game Progression for PvE players its dungeons or PvP Arena. Its one of the reasons I quit WoW I didn't want to be some cog / slave in someone's raid group and 99% of the time come out feeling like I got Jacked.
WAR's an RvR game...its about community...Raid focus takes away from that and it becomes about "Guild" Community instead which is important but shouldn't be the primary focus to an RvR based game.
Every thing so far sounds great. I wont miss Raids, I usually couldn't raid any way because my guild started at about 7:00 and I usually don't get on till about 9:00. I do like to run dungeons though when I get the chance so if every thing is geared toward 6 mans that should be easy to find a guild group or PUG. I are excited.
Oh and I do love me some PVP but wow's pvp ??? One word STUNLOCK. I hated it.
LOL good one...
People still don't understand it.
it is NOT WAR vs 3 year old WOW
It is WAR vs WOTLK.
Who will leave his WOTLK for WAR is a whole other question than who will leave a game he played for 3 years to try something new.
MMORPG's drive on long term subscriptions, not on initial burst of sales in its first 4 weeks.
So indeed a lot of Wow players will try WAR (just like perhaps 500K did with Conan) and return after the launch of WOTLK. Because who wants to miss the next episode of the game he played for 3 years.
People understand it but fanbois don't.
I won't play WOTLK. I won't buy WOTLK. I will leave WoW which I have played since release to try WAR.
DAOC had the staying power due to it's PvP driven content. I have faith that WAR will as well.
More than 500k people will play wow, the CEs in aus I know for sure are already sold out.
Here are my reasons, feel free to add to them:
THE BOREDOM AND THE ENDLESS GRIND
WoW is old, it got boring for a lot of people. Especially all the old school players who got sick of the endless grind and the fact that gear which you worked for for months gets obsolete in 2 weeks every expansion.
WoW is a grindfest which revolves around gear. You grind for gear/rep, they add better gear/new rep, you grind for more gear/rep. They have replaced content with grinding so they can be lazy and make people repeat the same instances 2309530958 times.
How can people like to grind the same dungeons over and over and over? How can people do the same quests over and over? Well the answer is some people don't and some people are sick to death of it.
PVP IS LACKING
PvP in WOW sucks. It will still suck. Lake Wintergrasp will probably be nothing compared to WAR RvR. If it follows the same pattern as Halaa and other "WOW World PvP objectives" It will probably be tied somehow to PvE, item centric and people will scoot after they get their items.
Only 1 BG added so a total of 5 BGs vs WARs many instances and RvR on release?
1 PvP zone vs WAR's RvR with massive PvP. So far blizz has not had world PvP done right making everything item based and not objective based.
I dare you to try WAR and test it for yourself then come back to these boards and say the PvP sucks. Otherwise, you are just another fanboi who never self-tested anything and thus are just a troll. I realised also you've hardly said a bad thing about wow or a good thing about war lol... the typical definition of a fanboi.
WoW is PvE centric. They balance characters around PvE as well as PvP which leaves a lot of loopholes.
PvE content >>> PvP content
WoW lacks good purposeful massive endgame PvP.
WoW has no purposeful city sieges just some new PvP funzone which is made so that it can compete with WAR.
If you haven't experienced real massive PvP with objectives and the joy of capturing something you may not understand this.
NO OCEANIC BASED SERVERS
Lastly, after so many years they have not added Oceanic based servers and Mythic has done it in release. It will show when the Oceanic playerbase who have been posting tons of threads on the subject abandons them. They will try to fix it but it will be too late. (Forums of all the major oceanic carriers are already abuzz with WAR and switching from WOW threads)
I played WoW from a year before release until AOC came out and I have absolutely no interest in WOTLK. I'm in WAR beta and that will be the next game I play. I almost quit MMORPG completely because of how terrible AOC was but luckily I got into WAR beta and it renewed my faith.
The general popluation has moved away from PvE and towards PvP since EQ days so WAR will do just fine with the focus they have.
For those who like PvE but don't raid I think you'll be happy enough with WAR. The public quest system makes grouping to level more effecient than soloing unlike most games and to be honest at release I probably will completely ignore the solo quests and just level on RvR and PQ's with some dungeon crawls thrown in.
