I was wondering if there was an official release date yet at amazon.com it says September 30th and EBgames says the 23 and I can't find any information on warhammer's website.

There hasn't been anything official from Mythic yet. The dates from stores are just estimates.
Games I've Played: WoW, FFXI, SWG, CoH, EVE Online
Games I'm Waiting for: WAR, Stargate Worlds
I would say Mythic will release a date by the end of July or the start of August. Everything seems to be running at full swing now what with all of the beta invites and all.

HAving an inside look at the game I would expect more like a late October release. It is true the game is in good shape but several things are missing that need addressed. However I can say this. The game is in better shape now then most games are at release AOC anyone.
So basicaly it is up in the air
Untill you hear it from Mythic it's up in the air.

He meant they would release the release date in july/august.
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
I'm curious as is everyone else but no one knows and won't until they actually tell us. I've heard everything from this Fall to first quarter 2009....
My money is on it being based on WotLK's release date. That's stiff competetion regardless of what fanbois on either side will tell you. WAR is going to have to hit a good bit before or a good bit after to maximize subs, imo of course.
Exactly, if anything I am willing to bet that we will see WAR release perhaps a week before WotLK does.

Soon™!

I dont think a week would be good enough. Not really enough time to invest your self past the point of no return. If WotLK goes for jan/feb like TBC then WAR should hit this fall.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

I believe that WAR will be ready for the X-Mass season. The game should release no later than November 15th so people can buy the game as a X-Mass present for their friends or family. The game should release no sooner either so they can continue to polish it. It will also create hype as it comes out so close to the buying season.
This would be an ideal time to release a game since many video games are sold during the X-Mass buying season which starts on Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving.
EA Mythic knows this would be the best time to release this game and so does Blizzard...
I can't remember when a AAA MMORPG title released during the Xmas season. Usually they are delayed and miss it.
I don't think anything WoW does affects the WAR release. People will either want to keep playing WoW and buy an WoW expansion, or they will want something different and try WAR, regardless of release dates.
The only thing that will make a difference is if the WAR release is solid or not.
Good point. GameStop does own, run and operate Mythic. I'm sure they have the exact release date....

We will see. . .the thing is its very odd for them to be sending out emails regarding pre-orders and free overnight shipping for delivery on the 24th.
Also, your sarcasm is well noted. . .

Though, I will say that this is the first game that I've seen that you can hit all the sites that are offering pre-orders and they all say the 23rd... Well... BestBuy has the 23rd-29th... But everyone else that I checked has 9/23.
Sounds a bit early to me though.
Well it is hard to judge but if you think about it. Look at all of the beta invites, the removal of cities and classes, guild beta invites, whispers of NDA drops, I think we are spiraling down and it could be very soon. The timing couldn't be any closer, give till the middle of August for closed beta with an open beta starting the start of September for a few weeks then a couple weeks downtime to make everything ready.
This post includes heavy speculation all in an "as is" condition with no warranties or representations

Your right, when it gets closer to release things will start moving fast, especially when the NDA is lifted. However I am sticking with my original timeline.
mid august Open beta
Launch beginning of October.

I'm in beta so this answer is biased!
I think august open beta launch in october is pretty realistic. Launch might slip into early Nov if something big goes wrong.
WAR is in the final phase of beta before open beta aka the guild phase. Since the guild phase started they have sent out invites 3 or 4 more times. Almost everything is in the game already that suppose to make launch. Mythic is starting to send out invites more frequently. I think open beta will start early to mid august and mid to late september release.
From everything that we heard the game is mostly already complete and everything is mostly in beta that suppose be in launch if nothing major is broke.
Most release dates are fuild until they go gold and ship to the vendor for burning and packaging, based on pre-orders and requests from retailers they will need about 2 to 3 weeks lead time to get to market. So ship date to the vendors will be mid Sept if they stay on track. Which should have them locking it down by the end of August. My guess open beta will be no longer then a week and the same for headstart.

Don't forget they can starting packaging and "burning" games before open beta or even during. Heck they could start packageing right now if they wanted to.
My point is theywait for open beta till mid september and still have the games shipping beginning of October.

According to Best Buy.. But they are known to be wrong on release dates as well..

If they pressed the game discs now, consumers would not be happy when they installed the game and re-patched the whole game. WAR is still very much in beta and files do change, frequently, from push to push.
So, if they packaged the game now, consumers would be welcomed by, at best, a 6 GB patch. At worst, it could be larger.
An opening day patch is always expected but no company is dumb enough to force consumers at release to download essentially the whole game. Not to mention hundreds of thousands of people downloading massive amounts of data is only going to be trouble.

Um...what?
Every MMO I've ever bought at launch had a hefty patch.
