Need help losing weight?

I am a 6'3" man.  Christmas 2007 I was 245lbs, fat and lazy.

7 months today, I am 185lbs.  60lbs gone in 7 months!  I went from being able to squat 135lbs to 225lbs for 10.  Bench went from 95lbs to 205lbs.

I know this sounds like spam, but if you take a look at my name and my profile, I enjoy getting myself into the best shape I can.  I still play MMORPGs, still game, still eat a lot of the foods I did last year... but I am a lot stronger then I've ever been.

So I have another personal best... it's actually really good.

I started a timer to see how long it would take me to jog my 2 mile course.  I turned it on, walked to my starting point and stretched for a few minutes, took off and came back... ran really well.

I looked at my timer, 17 minutes!!!  I was shocked.  This is with it going while I walked to the bottom of my road and did a couple minutes of stretching.

So if anyone wants any tips or hints of any advice, please feel free to ask.  I'll be more then willing to help.

    LMAO, win!

On a serious note, good for you on making your life better for yourself.  Even more so because you actually want to help others.

I am fortunate. at 6ft i have never been over 170lbs and that was when i layed around for 2 weeks with a cold just eating. for 99% of my adult life i have been 155lbs, fast metabolism, I work outside constantly moving, i burn it off fast.

I would say walking, jogging, bicycling and limiting your fat intake/ avoid cheese, butter, fatty meats would be a great start.

5'6", 127ish pounds. I'm short, but rather well toned. I can carry around my dog who also weighs 125 pounds.

I have work to thank, where we move 100 pound boxes by hand all day.

    Now with 57.3% more flames!

Why does it bother you so much?  How does this negatively affect your life?

If you don't want that little jig to give you a massive heart attack, see the OP for tips!  Other than that, who gives a toss what the bloody yanks or anyone else uses?  Most Aussie men I know have trouble counting past 2 if there are nipples in the room!

Have you tried any type of casein protein?  It's slower to digest and still packs a lot of protein.  Or perhaps Mega Mass XXX from GNC.  It's a weight gainer with "good" fats and high protein.

It can help you gain mass, not fat.

I never did.  I was just saying how I am... I know A LOT of people who play game that are overweight.  I am here to help, not argue.

In today's society that people live in, (wanted things done the day before yesterday attitude) and the express line in the fast food and the ease of meals, it saddens me to see what the world is turning into.

It's not just America, but a lot of the major countries that are becoming overweight.

Just the other day I seen this girl (She couldn't have been no more then 10) TRYING her hardest to ride one of those push-scooters.  She was probably over 200lbs.

For ones parents to feed their kid like that is a form of child abuse...  she had just a sad look on her face watching this other kid wizz around on their scooter and she couldn't even balance on it.  I really wanted to say something to the parent, but in the world we live in, I would of been sued.

I lived my whole life as an overweight child, which followed me to my teens and then in to my late 20s.  Just as I stated before, at Christmas I was 245lbs and wasn't stopping!  ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH!

I took a hammer, smashed my monitor and destoryed my computer!!! THAT WAS MY DRUG.  It was being stuck behind a computer and low will power to actual want to go out and do anything...  it was extreme, but I had to break this cycle or I would probably be 300lbs today.  Both my mother and father are extremely overweight and I didn't want to be another TYPE II diabetic in the family.

So as I stated before.  I will help anyone who's willing or wanting.

If you are truly serious...  I have suggestions and tips.

Eating a lot of junk does nothing but increase your gloucose (sugar) and spikes your insulin.  Then when that crashes you get hungry again, eat more carbs and crap food, spikes, crashes... next thing you know you're still at the same weight, but now have TYPE II diabeties.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh?

Keep running daily and you can get that 2-mile time down pretty fast.

Ever since summer started I too have been getting in shape, I work out 4-5 times a week and run almost daily (occasionally I skip a day or two due to being busy).

I have no incentive to lose weight, I'm not really over weight but I think I'm going to start being.  The last thing I would want is to extend my lifespan,  with any luck I'll shave off a  good 30 years.

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

OP, if you really want to help folks on here, might I suggest that you make a blog here detailing the steps you took to get where you are today (workout program, diet, etc).

    Congrats on all your success.

This guy used to work for SOE, so it is possible to loose weight and gain muscle mass despite your age!

I have over 1,200 post on www.bodybuilding.com.  I have a log that's been going 47 days and what I do, what I eat and how I feel.

I've also been sponsored by Controlled Labs.  I don't want to tell people my name here.

Here are some tips to loosing weight safely:

    1) Stay away from "white foods" since most are usually heavily processed ( Mayo, Butter, Margarine, White Bread, etc.).

    2) Eat breakfast....the word breakfast itself literally means taking a break from fasting.

    3) liquid calories (Beer, Soda, etc.) are harder to work off than calories from solid food.

    4) Do not eat after 8:00 p.m.

    5) Dinner / Supper should be your smallest meal of the day.

    6) Try eating 5-6 smaller meals rather than the typical three meals.  If this is not possible have your largest meal should be breakfast.

    7) Exercise daily even a walk around the neighborhood will help.  Also it is best to exercise in the morning.

    8) I would also stay away from milk and cheese ....the dairy union is very strong in the USA, and most people do not realize that there are a lot of health hazards.
