ill right WTF has happened i recall when i used to play years ago id get spelling interupted from being hit 1 time of 3 spells and now i cast a spell 10 to 15 time to get it off 1 time what has happend???/????

DAoC was always like that and it will never change. Casters were very fragile close up and rightfully so. You had to play smart and know your range and if you did it all right you were plenty powerful to kill things before they got to you.
If you're looking for WoW style casting where there's a cast bar and spell push back, this is not the game.

Every hit causes an interrupt timer. I don't remember all the mechanics, but I believe it is supposed to be 3 seconds, but due to the mechanics it ends up like 5 or 6 seconds. Anyhow, it has always been this way from day one. It's part of the reason casters are so powerful yet fragile in DAOC.
gusse its just after 2 3 eyars gone im used to other games btw i know its not like WOW think goodness if DAOC was like wow i would have not played it for the 2 3 years i did i quit wow 3 mounths after release and went back to SB
You should also note that high level casters with a lot of Dexterity and spell haste were able to cast between hits coming from people who use slow weapons, like 2handed ones. This meant that if you timed it right you could cast after the enemy hit you and get off your spells without using your quick cast or Mastery of Concentration realm ability.

That nearly never happen, when you are fighting experienced fighters equal to your RR. Always after you get damaged, need some seconds so you can cast again - 2-3 seconds -, thats enough to hit again.

If you anywhere even decent in DAoC on a caster, No melee class should even be able to reach you much less hit you unless it's a stealth class.
In my 8 years of DAoC, No melee class like warrior, paladin, arms, ect. has even made it half way to my location, let alone hit me. I die to other casters.
If you play any of the raw casters like a wizard, heretic, rune, chanter, sorc, warlock so on, if your not killing them long before the reach you, your doing it all wrong....

Either you only run in a zerg or you are window dragging. Det 5 + stoicism tanks and charge light tanks can get to any caster they please. Nearly every mid group is a push group and some tank is going to get to you, unless all you do is play Alb extend groups. I call total bullshit on your "8 years... no melee has made it half way to my location, let alone hit me.." statement. You are basically saying that you have never been mezzed in 8 years with purge down, never had a group AJ you from behind, never taken a keep and been at close range, never gotten caught in a speedwarp, never....
This guy was talking about a hypothetical situation of why his cast get broke when he is being attacked.
In a 1 on 1 scenerio from range (correct range) no melee will reach a caster specced correctly. Purge or no Purge if they know what they are doing it shouldn't happen.
Yes I have been CC, yes I have been in big fights, jumped from behind and died more times in almost a decade than you can fathom.
BUT
In a 1 on 1 vs a melee class I will take the pepsi challenge and say they will never reach me. Maybe fall half way. I have never in 8 years on any of my true caster had a melee "tank" run at me and make it all the way to me.

Granted in the last 5 years or so your not very likely to find any solo fights, it is all mindless dumb ass zergs in labs.
Which is why I no longer play the game. I have a 50 scout and Inf, which was about the extent of the fun a stealther group.
So if you didn't want to run Radar on Mid to win, or zerg with the Albs, game sucked ass.
I didn't include Hibs cause they suck ass anyway, never really have been part of the fight just kinda help mids against the Albs from time to time.
You can call bullshit all you want. However anyone who has played DAoC going to try to come in here and tell me a pure caster can't destroy a tank class either 1 didn't play the game or 2 sucks ass as a caster.

Obviously you play on ToA, and I do too, it is caster haven. If you want a pissing contest, so be it. I still call bullshit. You are saying that you have NEVER had a melee reach you, EVER. I've played Alb Galahad since release, and there is often a melee that reaches me at some point in a fight. I'd probably guess that 50% of the fights I'm in, a melee reaches me. The only way I can take down a fully buffed tank with AoM + resists is to get some good crits off or have DI already burned off earlier in the fight. Most of the good tanks are running where I see my nukes losing over 50% to worn, RA, and spell resists. Yes, I am templated, and yes I know how to play a caster as I have played all the casters, in all 3 realms since release. I just think you have an overzealous recollection of your past exploits in RvR. Telling a newb they suck because someone was able to get in melee range is utter horseshit.

Ah you are one of those "i rock and everyone else are noobs" guys Average RR's cant kill arsman/warrior/hero with all their magic reduction utility. And also its so easy for a light tank with stoicism/determination/charge to come close to you and hit you.
Yes there are ways to always keep a distance, and keep doing your job. But you still didnt get the point of topic.
