I have really played most of the mmo out there and i am really bored of them so now i am thinking back about those older mmo and i have narrowed it down to this 2. I like lineage 2 graphic but i also like Eve gameplay and i cant decide which one i wan to play back. Hope the nice community here can give me some feedback from your experience and help me to chose. Thank you all in advance for your help ^^ and some comment from myself on why i quited this 2 games last time. I quited lineage 2 last time because i am really sick of the grinding last time but seem like now the experience rate have increase alot compare to the past with the new patch. As for Eve i quited because there was once when I was doing my lvl 4 mission when i warp into the mission area into the middle of huge group of npc ship and my game freeze up on me and I lost my BS and i was so sad and pissed that I quited in a moment of anger as CCP say they have no problem on their server and wont refund my ship ;p

L2 is good if you have a high enough level to participate in pvp, otherwise, prepare for a grind.
Eve if you like interacting with others, join a coorp and such, personally I would pick Eve.
La2 if you prepare for SLOW progress OR spending allot of money on ebay OR botting. Eve is allright aswell but endgame La2 is best pvp game on market atm. Its stable and offers nice balance, many servers have like 3-12h pvp for epic raids ect. I played most major mmos and most of them haven't even been close to giving the players the freedom to pvp as lineage2 has. Instanced pvp is sucha bs, i can't even understand how people concider it pvp, even rvr as in DAOC is sub compared to open world pvp that goes on every day in la2. There are also those servers who are a bit faster, figure it out yourself
Doesnt it take like a full year or close if you play L2 casually? (not /played, IRL).
Read something similiar in a review when it was completely fresh, its why i dont bother with it :-p
EVE. lineage2 was great to play when it first came out, but joining that type of game later just makes it less fun. most of the world is a ghost town, except for massive numbers of bots.
EVE has a harsh learning curve, but if you can find some good people it can turn into a lot of fun. If you can't find some good people you'll end up pretty lonely.

Now if I could just fix that problem for myself...
I need a nice bunch of regular people ("social drinkers who game :-p") to play with.
EVE with ventrilo+m8's would so hook me up.
Right now im looking at the EVE-client and my trial account, with some booring MP3 in the headphone, didnt get out of the tutorial before I ALT+F4 :-p
I so want a sci-fi/futuristic mmo to play, EVE would fix me (I like enormous complex games aslong as they are online/mmo), just that no IRL-m8's plays it and the ones I knew when I DID play it, have quit
I'd say EVE, but realize, in your example above you broke the cardinal rule, never fly what you can't afford to lose, and that applies not only to players but anomolies such as you experienced.
Also, keep your mission running ships insured and it will take much of the sting out of the loss.

Nice! so many people to help out. Love u all so much ^^
Before you listen to the people talking about a grind in lineage 2 or slow progress check out the changes being made in the entire lineage 2 system. The horrible grind that lineage 2 is famous for is going away.
theres a couple posts here allready about that so I wont go into again, but you can read up on it yourself a litle bit here at mmorpg, or at the lineage 2 gracia preview site or go to l2blah and read the translated patch notes for almost all of the info.
not so fast lol, sure they added vitality system, but you may wanna know that l2 still have a very challenging grind, sure you can go 1-20 in less than 1h, even up to 60+ in couple of days, but still you will have to grind some for 70-80+.
the point with lineage2 is to have fun you need ppl with who you can have fun, like an end game oriented clan/ally, becuz some ppl join crap clans and say they arnt having fun playing l2, thats normal if your clan doesnt play end game competition, all you have left is grind which isnt that fun.
L2 is more fun for me, I never liked Eve so of course my opinion is biased.
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
this is obviously true, as could be said of everyone. but that doesn't make it any less valid when someone asks for other people's opinions. So just say why you liked L2 and why you didn't like EVE and we could care less how biased you are, you're still helping out.

True.
Lineage 2 (after the upcoming patch) will be quite fun imho. You will be able to get to 2nd job class rather quickly. The pvp is pretty fun and balanced. Castle seiges and the manor system are awsome concepts. The raid bosses are very fun to tangle with. The characters and armors are beautiful. Only down side is the bot problem, but after the changes to a lot of the exp system and armor prices, they should not be as rampant, due to easier leveling and cheaper equipment (meaning you dont need to buy money or be powerleveled to be able to get decent equipment)
Eve - The main turn off for me is the lack of a true toon. I like seeing my character and customizing its look, etc. I do not see a VERY indepth flight sim + economics sim as a mmorpg. That is just me, dont flame me, it is just how I feel about mmos. I also dont care for the full loot pvp. Losing everything due to one dumb mistake is not my idea of fun, and to me games are meant to be fun. I'm not saying full loot should be taken out, since most ppl love it. i'm just saying it is not my cup of tea. Eve just seems too much like realife to me due to the time, economics, politics, ability to lose everything, etc. I play games to relax and escape real life drama (I have enough drama in my life without playing a game to add more)
There my opinions elaborated

Just want to comment on this little bit.
You never put all your assets on one ship. You don't lose everything, you just lose a small part of your huge pile of assets. The common ships are roughly the time aquivalent of the xp-penalties in traditional fantasy style mmos, of course depending on size and outfit.
If you really lost everything you had then eve would really suck, i agree.
To the op, if i remember correctly, the two games both have a free trial. Just try them out and decide for yourself.
L2 does nto have free trial now, you have to get a refferal key from someone who has been playing 90 days or more. This was to help combat the bot problem.
True, you only lose a small part if you do it right, and there is insurance. Still not really my cup of tea :P Mainly due to the first point (lack fo toon and overblown flight sim/economics sim). It just felt boring to me. Once again I'm not insulting anyone's game, I'm just saying why I don't like it.
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
I went from lvl 1 to 68 in 5 days, pretty much everything after that is end game material and even then the grind dosnt actually start untill lvl 79. Going 79 - 80 is still a @#$$ but thats to be expected in any game at that lvl.
The point I was making is that ncsoft took away the huge obsticles that prevented new players from catching up to the vets in a resonable amount of time. The new Vitality systems is great for new players to lvl quickly. The extremely low price on gear from No grade to B grade is another boost. Raid Boss mobs being easier for parties to do, dropping more items, and more of those being full drops is a huge boost.
any game will be boring if the person playing it doesn't participate. And yes your right lineage 2 is very clan / alliance oreinted but it is not difficult to join a clan that does the things you want to do, go to clan community and have a look at a clans rep points. the small clans that do nothing wont have all of that many while the active clans will have 100k + rep points.
